As an American in Germany I often found it difficult to find good hamburgers. The Ladies Diner in Esslingen proved to be tasty, but it's far from Stuttgart-Mitte. When The Burger Republic opened I was hopeful but cautious. As it turns out, their food is wonderful! Everything is made fresh and the quality of the ingredients is evident. I'm sorry Daniel below had a bad experience, because I've been here maybe a dozen times and haven't had a single problem with the food when I got it (see below). My German skills were sufficient to order all my food and drinks, but some friends were able to use English just fine with the friendly waitstaff. When they first opened they were closed on Sundays, which is a drag, but they have since changed their hours. One time I was disappointed when they informed us they were completely out of buns... it was more than an hour before closing and they were still open without a fundamental ingredient. That was a silly problem, but it didn't turn me off of the place. I don't like huge, ridiculous burgers, so I was pleased to note their portions aren't enormous. If you want 2000 calories on one plate, I'm sure McDonald's will help you out. read more

We enjoyed the outside seating and our servicer was very nice. They took card which was also a plus! But we were pretty underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the sloppy joe burger and sweet fries. On our business trip to Stuttgart we had to grab some food so my friends bumped into this place last night and it looked really nice, so we came in today The place seems cool, with great music- we went upstairs to the lounge and sat down, the waitress came right away and spoke both English and German, took our order and came not long after with the drinks Then, the food arrived - and it was not good (That's an understatement). The sweet potato chip were thin and crispy, the fries were also average, dry buns (they offer vollkorn buns) and the worst of all - cold patties! My friend ordered the American burger with extra cheese, and she got it without it - when she asked the waitress about the missing cheese - she said she didn't order instead of checking if she made a mistake, only after we insisted about it she took it down, put a piece on it and brought it back, she was really upset about it and it showed - not nice. Overall, not recommended, bad value for money, go somewhere else... I'm sure you'll do better. read more

This place is awesome. I am an American from Portland and this place reminds me of home. Has a real hipster/modern feel to it and is just a cool place. The people working behind the counter every time for myself have been able to speak great English. Also the food tastes excellent. The burgers are I would say, very delicious by an Americans standard. You have the option of ordering wheat/grain buns also for a slight healthier option. The fries and sweet potato chips are simply to die for, and the drink options here make it exciting to come. you can also use a visa/credit card to pay, which is not so common for other restaurants in the area I have discovered. All in all whenever I want a burger this is the place I go. I love this place, go Burger Republic! read more

KH: I owe you more of these. Dinner here. And I'm ashamed that I stooped to comfort food, but I gotta say it was delicious. Germany does Mickey D's WAY better than we do. It's been a difficult week. As you know, the birthday party went pear shaped and here I am, more than a little culpable. Coulda used more company thru the challenges, but I understand. We enjoyed our meal here. The place was packed and we were mostly ignored until we finally grabbed a great table by the window and were joined by a couple of regulars. After that, we had Cadillac service all of the way. The waiter/bus dude was completely overwhelmed, but he got our orders right and quickly. I had the burger with BBQ sauce, my wife had the one with French cheese, and the bacon fries were outstanding. Curiously, cheddar was not an option for a burger joint. Really enjoyed the place! Me and my boyfriend got there as they began opening for lunch and within minutes it was packed! I ordered the Mexican styled burger with jalapeños (forgot the name) and my boyfriend ordered the pulled pork. Both were delicious and the fries and sweet potato chips were amazing as well! They even come with some dipping sauces! I believe mine was a garlic dip and my boyfriend was something curry like. This might be the worst burger i have ever had. Even McDonalds is better with their signature menu. Ordered a burger that had house sauce which apparently is served with curry sauce. Who puts curry on a burger??? My wife ordered a blue cheese and it was soggy and you could not even put it up. We also ordered truffle fries which had not a even a hint of truffle. Not only that but they kept mixing up people's orders. I do not recommend this place at all. This is coming from an self taught cook and one who knows a good burger. read more
