The experience started with a quick massage, some aromatherapy, and a freshly made coffee. She did some cutting then a wash of the hair (in a heated massage chair I should add). Some final touch up cuts, a style, and I was done. Not rushed but no lollygagging either. One of the stylists was trying to give away glasses of champagne; which I would have definitely taken her up on, if I didn't have to go back to work! Colorist -- Very experienced colorist who selected the perfect combination for a half head of foils. She also sectioned perfectly to accommodate my hairline. Plus, she made some recommendations which suited my hair type brilliantly. Stylist -- A young stylist who impressed me. He made great choices that suited my hair type and face, but didn't stray outside my comfort zone. Bonus points for not pressuring additional product sales on me and for asking me if I wanted them to call me a taxi (which I did) - way to predict my needs. My hair looked really streaky and I was disappointed. I tried to explain this, but she just said going blonde was a process. So I went home and slept on it, figuring I would feel better in the morning. The next day I still felt unhappy with my hair and considering I paid 290 and I'm just an university student. So getting my hair coloured is a real treat. I decided to ring up and explain the situation. I got a pretty aggressive guy, I dunno if he was just stressed or that's his manner. He wanted to put me in contact with the hairdresser I had the miscommunication with, I explained I wasn't comfortable with that and would rather just use someone else in future. He seemed disgruntled and annoyed and it made me feel anxious. So I decided I would just go somewhere else, I explained this to him, he seemed annoyed. He rang back half an hour later and asked again if I would like to book an appointment to get my hair fixed. This time I agreed as I couldn't really afford to go Somewhere else and he sounded calmer. I explained I needed my hair done by today though, because I had a wedding the next day. He said there were no available appointments and he couldn't help me until next week. I explained that I needed a quick fix, because I had a wedding and I needed to look right for the photos. He seemed to get snappy and annoyed again. So I just said I would have to go somewhere else as I needed it done by tomorrow and I did. After I went to the next place, where they fixed my hair and did an exceptional job. (Brown to blonde super easily and really friendly) I decided that maybe I could Ask for a refund considering they weren't able to fix my hair for me and now In total this hair had cost me 500 dollars. I rang inches hair back to discuss this and the man basically just yelled at me, for even ringing him again and hung up. All in all an awful experience. I completely understand that sometimes hairdressers don't get it right ect ect. But what I don't understand is how Incredibly unhelpful and rude they were making me feel anxious and uncomfortable. Mina herself is lovely. You'll always get a 'hello darling' in her thick Persian accent and she is always accommodating if you don't have an appointment. She is very quick which is great for the painless treatments like waxing. Her prices are really reasonable $15-$20 for eyebrows and $35-$40 for a Brazilian wax. This isn't the flashest salon in town but it is great value and good service.

I'm actually excited to keep going back and having them fixed by her, she's experienced and extremely accommodating!

They are really overpriced and don't provide a good service. They don't offer EMLA cream in the treatments - you have to go out and buy it yourself from a chemist if you want it. For a clinic that charges twice what other places do, you would think they would include it in the price, but they don't because they are rubbish. Same with dressings - they might sticky tape cotton pads to your skin after your treatment (but don't count on it - at times I had to specifically ask for something to cover my skin which was bleeding). If you want proper dressings and medical tape you will need to purchase them yourself from a chemist. They also do not cleanse the area before treating it. You are expected to clean your own skin with the products in the treatment room, or request a practitioner assist you. I now go to True Skin Laser Clinic on Liverpool St. They use the exact same Q-switch laser, and the staff are a lot more qualified (they are nurses). Their treatments are better and the cost is less than 50% of what City Laser clinic will charge you (and True Skin includes numbing cream, cleansing, post-treatment balm and proper dressings.) Oh - and if you try to pay with a card (not cash) City Laser Clinic will charge you a 3% surcharge. Just the cherry on top.

Over the couple of years that Tara has been doing my hair we've taken it from bright orange to blonde to orange with a fade to blonde then orange with a fade to pink then highlighter pink then peach then back to blonde. Admittedly, I'm one of the lucky ones whose hair will give back colour without needing to use really strong, damaging products but Tara was always honest with me. If she didn't think that my hair was healthy enough to do something I wanted then she would tell me and recommend products to use that would get my hair back to good health. You always want a hairstylist that isn't going to compromise the health of your hair to give you what you're asking for but will offer some great alternatives. If you're looking for a hairdresser in the Inner West, whether for a run of the mill cut or a wild alternative look, then definitely give Tara a try. I actually haven't been to another hairdresser since I moved interstate in February because I haven't come to grips with trusting someone else with my hair!

I need to clarify that this was my first time getting my hair done here in Australia, as I have just moved from Chicago, and we all hate moving salons. My appointment was at 1:30 so I arrived promptly at 1:25 and informed the hairdresser I had arrived. They brought me to a chair and asked me if I wanted water (which I accepted) and then left me. No introduction to the salon, or who would be taking care of my hair. I sat, (without a "hello" or "so and so" will be with you soon) for about 20 minutes. After that time someone finally came over and informed me she would go mix my colour. Again, no introduction (Still didn't know her name). I stopped her to explain my situation - that I was looking for change. I have been platinum blonde for too long and needed some depth. So, finally she left which was again, another 10 mins or so and came back. The entire time she was foiling me she seemed really put off that I was there. In fact, I would go as far as to say nervous maybe? No smile. I started trying to make small talk to no avail. After my hair had processed and had been cleaned I was walked over to another young girl (I think around 23) and started with the cut. I have been taking care of my hair for a long time, even told by stylists for many years that my hair takes really well to color/bleach without damage. You can imagine my surprise when this young girl turns to me and chastised me for getting highlights. Told me that my hair was in very poor condition and that I was basically an imbecile. Sister promptly gave it to me saying she wouldn't go back. Sister's experience was somewhat different to mine. Sister said the staff and ambiance was cold and uninviting. The colour and cut she got was good she just didn't feel that 'treat' feeling she gets usually from other hairdressers (said sister by the way gets her hair done every 6 weeks). I on the other hand quite enjoyed my experience. I walked off the street to hopefully book an appointment for that day and though they were busy Serena (head hair designer) worked around the schedule to fit me in with little more than a 10 minute wait. Not only that but she let me use the voucher and gave it back to me when I left. She also cut my hair which I was very happy with - I walked in looking like I'd not cut my hair in a year and walked out looking like it had never look rejected. If you want to let go of the day, without feeling the need to natter Via Spiga is a good hairdressers to visit. The salon uses Jeval Hair Colour, Brocato Hair Car and Nak Hair Care. The good thing about these choices are the paraben free, sulphate free and plant based ingredients. Compared to a lot of salons that use chemical heavy dyes and shampoo at Via Spiga you know you get a hair bath that doesn't just leave your hair feeling soft and beautiful but also natural.
