Good food. Medium priced, not cheap. Conveniently near city center, shops, and sights. A bit too…read moremuch oil in the spaghetti with seared tuna, but tasted very good nonetheless. Steak tartare with raw egg was also very good. (I've read other reviewers saying this place is racist. I and none of my other three friends were white. And we did not experience any racism. However, my non-white friends spoke Dutch fluently. Perhaps this is a factor.)

Racist owner spoiled a lovely evening I was having with friends. Pricey place which should probably…read moreput up a "White Dutch customers only" sign. I, a visibly Asian woman, asked the owner if I could pay up for my drink since I was leaving earlier than my friends. Owner says this is not possible. Not with card, with cash and exact change either. He leaves and I ask the waiter who served us, he also says no. I come back to my table, and ask my 6 Dutch friends (all Caucasian) if this normal. They say they have been there before and it was never a problem. A Dutch friend goes to the owner and he says "of course!". So I go up to the owner and ask him why it wasn't possible when I asked him five minutes ago, but now that we have 6 additional people it is. He says "Normally this is not possible but I feel generous". I ask him what has changed within the last five minutes. And he says again, what has changed between me, a single person asking to pay, and having six MORE people to all pay separately. He repeats, "I am feeling generous. It's your lucky day!". I have been treated in a similar manner at the "Brasserie Kaizer" in the inner city center when I was with my friends, not all of them Caucasian. There too the problem was solved when white Dutch friends went up to owner and "talked to him". And again, friends who had dined there only in company of Caucasian people did not have this issue. Clearly, these two owners are big fans of Geert Wilders! . . , . . . ... "" " / " 1 . . . , (???) . . . .

Well, where do I start? I had my husband bring three associates here for dinner yesterday we had…read morecome here in 2019 and I had remembered how delicious it was. The things on the menu are not the same thing as they used to be so that was disappointing when I ordered some thing assuming it was the same preparation as before, and it was basically a egg quiche with chunks of potatoes in it it wasn't good it was fairly flavorless We also tried the skewers and they were so tough. We didn't even chew them. The calamari was the worst the group had ever had when we ordered a few other things, but none met our expectation let alone being good. It took a while for the server to notice us and we should've been alarmed when there was no one else seated in the restaurant at 6:30 or seven at night most places here are booming. There was one couple sitting outside on the sidewalk. I can only imagine it was their first time the waiter would come and bring things well then trying to remove something off the table to replace it with the thing in his hand, instead of clearing some empty things off the table 1st. The potato Espinola still has the same name, but as I said is made completely different than it was before . There is no real description in the menu so I had no reason to think it was an egg quiche since it says potato pancake, they don't have spring rolls anymore and they don't have the bread platter anymore of all the things that we did try and the group I was with her very open-minded. Nothing was worth heating . I hope they read this and try harder just a real disappointment.

There is an open and energetic kitchen, high-top tables, long community tables/bars, and more intimate tables in the back. The food is small plates though they offer s few larger plates too. It's a perfect spot to sit and catch up with friends while sharing Italian dishes. It seemed like 2 plates per person worked well. The friend calamari was lightly battered and the squid was cut thick so you could really taste it. The vegetables from the oven are s good mix of roasted veggies in olive oil- I loved the onions and fennel. The lamb kebabs were cooked well by a little heavily herbed for me (I think sage?). Tried the chicken with vegetable- the chicken (both dark and white meat) was grilled crisp and served with small, diced veggies. For dessert we shared the lemon and meringue pot- a tart and tangy lemon curd (a little grainy) topped with brûlée meringue. The dessert was a little too sweet for me. The espresso is very good quality. Many options for all eaters- veggies, meat, and gluten-free. A great place to come with a group of for a romantic dinner.
