River Valley Health focuses on sports related prevention and injury treatment, repetitive strain disorders and joint and soft tissue injuries. The staff and doctors are always friendly and professional and get to the nitty-gritty of what ails you. A.R.T. hurts like an expletive, but is worth the pain for the outcomes. The technique also works, if you stick with it, and for many, myself included, diligence is the difficult part. They have a series of roughly eight to ten private rooms, which are used in the massage and electro-therapy sessions (not as painful as it sounds), and serve as a nice touch. The biggest grief for me was the restricted working hours - if I work 9 - 5, how am I supposed to get down here on time? Innovation does tend to be over-worked - typically they have only one or two doctors to cover all the patients, so you can wind up waiting for the doctor to come back during your appointment. Not a fan of that, but I understand. If you need a place to recover after an injury, this is definitely a good way to go!

The reason I chose this particular clinic was to use the Biodex machine to increase my range of motion. It did not disappoint even tho I had to live outside of my home community for 2 months. I was told it is the only machine in Canada situated in a physio clinic. The Capilano staff from the front desk right through to other therapists and assistants are warm and welcoming. Arjun, my physio therapist was skilled and engaging while always focused on my recovery and increased range of motion. I highly recommend him. His assistant Ava was so kind and personable. As well as physio I utilized other gym equipment in addition to the Biodex. This included a treadmill developed by NASA that can reduce your weight for walking. Allie, the kinesiologist is helpful and engaging. When I have a second knee replacement in about 12 months, it will also be a complicated procedure. I will relocate to Edmonton once again just because of the gains I was able to achieve at Capilano. Thank you Arjun, Ava and Allie.

I have been going to Propel for over two years for sports related injuries (two different times)…read more I have been to both locations, Heritage Valley on Ellerslie road, within a business building and the other right off Whitemud Exit 99Street also located in business building. Hard to spot but have great location finders online and reception always willing to direct via phone. Heritage Valley located on top floor via stairs and elevator. Whitemud location on the main floor. Both have parking lots with overflow. Ellerslie has street parking as well. Be prepared not to be able to park too close to door for Elerslie location and they don't have a handicap automatic door. Services to both offer wide variety, more in-depth explanation online. Physical Therapy for multiple injuries: mvc, mva, sports related, WBC. Staff are highly educated and trained in PT, Accupuncture, Brace, bike -seat fittings, Yoga classes and Massage Therapy included. If you like one particular PT, each have their own schedules and shifts. They take insurance and give full descriptions of services and costs. Be prepared to go into your first session, knowing what to bring/ expect, what the costs are and how long. They provide complimentary water bottles and suggest to come 5-10 min earlier than your booked apppointment to change. Very clean environment and have additional staff that assist. Ensure you leave messages with the reception, not on the answering machine. Shelly Y at Heritage Valley has been my PT over the years. I have been to many on both sites. I have stuck with her and she has stuck with me :). Highly trained and educated, her dedication and tough love have brought my body back to life many times. There is sanitizer all over the place so this was also reassuring. After my first appointment with Gordon Grant, I knew I'd come to the right place. I I had been feeling run down and depressed and immediately after I noticed an improvement in my energy levels. But the big thing I noticed was my mood was better. It was if I had been in the dark and now the sun was shining again. It was pricey, but worth it to feel so much better. I connected with Gord on a personal level too, as we are both gardeners, a bit eccentric in our views and in favour of alternative wholistic practices.
