My server whose name was Cynthia whose name tag said Helga (don't ask) served me quickly and with a smile. She came by several times to check on my needs but was never an overpowering presence. If potatoes were combined with peppers and onions and we're nice and crispy of friends just the way they should be). Unfortunately they were out of biscuits (even though they have a biscuits and gravy dish). How you run out of SKU Ott's on a Saturday morning is beyond me. My tea was your standard black tea (they did not have steamed milk) served with honey. Interestingly, they didn't have a decent size cup so I was provided with 2 cups and two teabags. The bottom line: As with all my reviews, my (Customer so what) would I return? This restaurant is not in my top 10 but, if the beach was reopened and I wanted an oceanfront dining experience this could be a pretty good place to visit. The service was excellent. The veggie pasta plate was huge and the pasta cooked to perfection. The shrimp scampi pasta was sooo good. The linguini was perfectly al dente and the shrimp big and plump and yummy. Oh! And let's not forget the mile high key lime pie. Even if you don't care for key lime pie you will absolutely love this one. It's more like a key lime ice cream but better. The outdoor seating is especially nice since it's completely covered on the deck but with all of the bushes and plant surrounding the deck, you're not really getting much of a view. This visit, we opted to sit at the bar and were lucky enough to snag three seats together. Our bartender was awesome and did a fantastic job throughout the meal. They don't serve liquor here, only beer and wine, so I ordered a rosé. The bartender recommended a cute little $16 bottle that came in its own mini bucket. It was adorable and paired perfectly with my meal. For my entrée, I ordered the Ahi tuna with broccoli and a side salad. Everything was fresh and delicious. My husband, however, definitely won the meal competition with the shrimp stuffed with crab meat and mashed potatoes. I stole a bite, and wow--it was incredible. The flavor and texture were outstanding, and I'll absolutely be ordering that next time. One of the funniest parts of the visit was the bartender's T-shirt featuring Anthony Bourdain flipping you off on the back. They were selling them, and I couldn't resist buying one. Literally instead of a hello We had already been told this by the hostess as she seated us and considering they've got it on the menu as well as at the table in big letters, I'm assuming this is a problem for most people. It is for me. I will usually tip even at lunch 25% for good service but when the management is forcing me to pay 18%, whether the service is good or not, then that's what I'm going to pay. Management is not doing their wait staff any favors. I took a star off for that. As far as the food, I was pleasantly surprised. I had fried green tomatoes and the fish and chips. My niece had a smash burger. She says hers was excellent. The fried green tomatoes were literally the best I've ever had. Which is saying a lot because I love this appetizer and will usually order it in any southern restaurant. The fish and chips were also good but not great. The fish was tender, and the breading was crispy and not too soggy, but it was not perfectly crispy. The french fries were lacking in flavor and chewy. But basically the food was good and the service was satisfactory but not great. But I will be back to try other items on the menu -/ if you're setting the bar for an 18% tip then that saves the customers a lot of money when they would usually do 25 to 30%. When I see this in a restaurant, it tells me that the management does not want to dip in their profits to give their employees health insurance, but depends on the customer to do it for them.
