My friend who lived in Marble Falls had been raving about this place after her first visit here…read more She claimed this place has the best catfish platter. When we visited her this was the 1st place on our list. The restaurant is right next to convenience store next door. The place is quaint and cozy. I loved the plaid table cloth and decorative coke signage. I ordered the catfish plate and it came with either hush puppies or french fries. The batter was rather bland, which was unusual per my friend's comment. She also found out that the usual chef was not working at that time. Overall, the service was alright, and the place was clean. The food could be better for our visit.

Had a house salad but out fried catfish rather than chicken due to Lenten Friday and they accommodated. Salad just has greens cherry tomatoes and cheese. The catfish was ok but not what I expected. The table next to us all got hamburgers that looked really good. My friends were ok with their dishes too so it is safe to say three stars. Probably would not come here again but because there wasn't a lot of healthy options.

This is one of those places excluding a palpable essence of Texas that is so difficult to describe to those who don't know it. It's a feeling of a place. It's a culture. This shop in the middle of nowhere aka beautiful, Bend, TX is the final convenience store within 20 min of Colorado Bend State Park campgrounds. It was our refuge after near heat exhaustion in 90+ degree heat on the return hike from Gorman Falls. A magical, lively, friendly oasis with COLD BEERS, giant, misting fans, a hodgepodge of seating and tables, pool table, stage for live music, and BBQ food truck. I practically begged my partner to enjoy just one beer and sit and drink in the ambience too! This is a rare treat for this Midwestern, Texas transplant--a gift to be with locals and experience true Texas. We enjoyed our negra modelos with lime, refreshing, desperately-needed shade and fans, and the chance to simple be in this place before heading back to CO Bend SP (with our purchased -**via card!!**-firewood) for a late afternoon swim in its fresh spring swimming holes! Spots like this bring you closer to the heart of Texas!!
