I loved all of them. Their personalities can start your day off on a positive note and if you had a bad day, their warm welcome in the evening is a reminder there are good people that make the world a brigher place. Food options - they had nice options for onsite dining. I was able to enjoy a dinner at Knoop on the 8th floor. It was a happening place. The food - excellent! The rooftop deck - lovely. Staff - friendly and they hustled. The room - it was ok. I like the simplicity. There wasn't a dresser with drawers. There was a side table that had drawers. It appears I might have been in a room that was designed to be handicap accessible. Which is great to see they offer accommodations for everyone. The challenge I had was the shower bench that folds down from the wall made the stall more narrow. I love that they provide magnification mirrors for primping...however for this room it was mounted low - just above the counter sink. I wasn't able to use it. The complimentary handsoap - was not appealing. I used it without thinking twice because I have never experience "offensive" smelling hotel products...flowery yes, but never offensive. This had "charcoal" in the name and it seemed appropriate because it smelled like something was burning...yuck. I didn't enjoy it at all. Thankfully I bring my own toiletries. I didn't use theirs. Parking - Love the valet service - not cheap but worth it if you are there for a work trip and work is paying. They also have a garage you can park in behind the building. Surrounding area - there several great restaurants within walking distance. If I return to the area, I will definitely try to stay here again.

My accommodations at The Hampton were extremely spacious (much bigger than my room growing-up, that's for sure) and the walk-in shower was huge! The complimentary breakfast the next morning was ample and delicious - a great start to my next 100 miles of driving. Update to my previous review …read more... My third time staying here to visit sick family and each experience has been easy and wonderful! Thank you. Wonderful experience! From start to finish I had a great experience and it's in large part due to Parker, a front desk employee. He/him is professional and friendly and upbeat, a joy to interact with and very helpful. I have been coming to Grand Rapids from the Cincinnati area for the past three weeks and will be doing so for the unforeseeable future... I am in town to visit a sick family member and it's all very difficult so to walk into a hotel and to be greeted with genuine enthusiasm and kindness is everything in that moment. I went to my room with a smile after spending a day in tears... truly thank you for having such wonderful employees. Okay, as far as the hotel is concerned... loved my room and the shower was amazing! They had shampoo and condition and body soap on the wall full of decent products.... I had forgotten body soap and hate bars so I was very thankful for the body soap! Everything was just easy..... I am an early morning person so I was heading to the hospital early each day and completely forgot they have a free breakfast... family member's that had the breakfast said it was great- cousin grabbed oatmeal and berries I think she said each morning on the way to hospital.... Finally, one of the nights I was in the lobby with a cousin waiting for another family member and when we were all ready to leave for dinner I neglected to grab my purse from the chair.... So after about 30 minutes I realized it and was devastated, assuming it was gone for good...I started thinking about all my losses and the credit cards numbers I'd have to call and then I called Parker. He/him found my purse and we came and got it.... Again, such a wonderful and kind exchange. I had a big bag of Costco chocolates in my car I promised her and on my drive home I saw them in my rear view mirror-- Parker- they are headed your way next week... and genuinely, thank you for your amazing and kind service!

But I would be remiss if I did not share my experience at the Embassy Suites in Grand Rapids, the downtown location. Located across from the Grand River, just barely outside the heart of downtown (that congested, no parking to be found, crazy busy section), yet still only minutes from it. Parking was $25 a night, much less than the $40+ for hotels located in the "heart." A big clean and bright lobby with a fun water feature greets you as you enter. A friendly staff member checked us in, though contactless check-in is an option. There is a Starbucks near the elevators if you need your fix, a nice amenity. Our room was immaculate, with a balcony and view of the river, a random lucky assignment. Nice big flat screen televisions, preloaded with streaming apps (they automatically sign you out upon check-out), so we watched our favs. Beds were very comfy, we both slept well, so that is a high mark in itself. Walk-in shower with cascading ceiling shower head and hand held shower wand to the side (I absolutely loved this shower, my fav of all hotels we've stayed). Massive sliding door separated the bathroom and seating/desk area from the bedroom. Perfect since my hubby wakes up early to work on his laptop, so no bright lights waking me up. Then there was the happy hour. Snacks, like hummus, pretzels, nuts and more, plus two drinks each, gratis. A charge for premium drinks, in case the freebies were not what you wanted. Then there was breakfast. We assumed it would be something we had to pay for, with the custom omelette station and all the options they offered, but it was included. I am not an omelette person, but these omelettes were amazing. I chose the egg white with mushrooms, spinach and cheese, while hubby had the Daily Special, with chorizo and hatch chilies. If you think an egg white omelette cannot be delicious, the ones here will change your mind. And my husband's was also outstanding! The chefs were friendly, even after making omelettes non-stop for well over a couple hours. I just can't say enough good things about those omelettes. Now the other prepared foods were hit and miss. They offered a large selection of hot and cold breakfast foods as well. The old fashioned rolled oats oatmeal was slightly under cooked and the scrambled eggs and diced potatoes were also nothing to write home about. But the sausage, crispy bacon and fluffy French toast were quite yummy. I saw yogurt and fruit, as well as muffins and other items, which looked good, but we didn't try. But coffee was good. We are already planning a Grand Rapids escape now, with a stay at this hotel as the cornerstone of our visit. Did I mention there is also a pool? Im just so happy we discovered this hotel, will be our go to whenever we need to stay over in GR!

There are several treadmills, a few ellipticals (my favorite), a whole area dedicated to free weights, and lots of other equipment. The fitness center is a rectangular glass box that faces both the pickleball courts and the pool, so you get an interesting view no matter where you're working out. Yes, this hotel has pickleball courts. It's $35 per hour to book a court. When we were there, there were Pickleball Players with a capital P tearing up the courts, so I'm thinking this isn't a place to bring your toddler to throw balls. These pickleball courts are for people who want to really play. Our hotel room was just fine. It was a little small for a two-queen-bed room, and the window faced the back of another building. But it was clean, and the shower worked, and the beds were comfy. One thing that I love is that housekeeping will automatically refresh your room, and you don't even have to beg. The hotel is huge, and there were a couple of big conferences going on while we were there, so there were lots of people milling about, but it never felt overly crowded. The first floor of the hotel feels like an indoor mall: there's a coffee shop, two restaurants, a wine shop and a gift shop. If you go up to the 27th floor, you'll find MDRD, a modern Spanish restaurant with a rooftop bar that overlooks the Grand River. This is not the place to take kids -- this feels like an adult-only space. They also have a dress code: smart casual. The adults in our party enjoyed a couple of drinks (wine and beer and bourbon) at the bar, and it was cool to just sit and watch the traffic on the Grand River bridge crawl by like ants. Parking is valet or a parking garage that's around the corner. I try to avoid valet when I can, for personal reasons, so we did self-park, which was no big deal.

I booked a room with (what I thought was) 2 queen beds for a stay with my mom. To our surprise, it actually had two bedrooms, one with 2 full beds and another with a single queen or king. Both had en suite bathrooms. Both had TVs. Plus we had our living/dining shared space. I needed to spend a bit of time during our stay working, and WiFi was strong and worked well in our room. Breakfast was better than expected, with a small hot foods bar, breads/bagels, fruit, yogurt, and lots of toppings and sauces (think jams, jellies, salsa, hot sauce, jalapeño slices, pickled red onion, etc). Simple selection of coffee, tea, and juice as well. Definitely did the trick. AC unit was on the louder side, and view out the window was a little odd (directly floor level with what seemed like an interior carpeted court? we were on 3rd level). But the plus side of this was no street noise in our room. Parking's a little on the expensive side, $38 per day in the adjacent public parking garage. It is nice to park directly in front of the hotel entrance though (3rd floor). This hotel was conveniently located, easy to find getting off the freeway and very walkable to shops, restaurants, etc. With the Hilton app, I was able to check in and check out on my phone, and use the app to use the elevators and unlock our room door.

I love the convenience of the parking attached to the hotel, the comfortable and clean room and the friendly staff. The best part was that there is a skyway that connected the hotel to the arena. Inconvenient when there's two people taking an Inconvenient when there's two people taking a shower. Also the showerhead and the position of the door was not in a good position. It would be better if the door was by the showerhead so you could open the door turn on the shower to get warm. I'd actually get sprayed every time because I had to step into the shower to reach the water. Also, in the lobby, most hotels have coffee available for their guests. There was an empty counter near the elevators that would be perfect. Sometimes it's just nice to offer free coffee to your guests that tastes better than the pods in the room. Having said that, I would definitely stay here again

Many things need to be updated in this hotel; Newer smart TVs (only offers Netflix, Pandora and YouTube for streaming, remotes are cheap impossible to use, needs USB ports, and, toilet paper is cheap and thin, better linens needed, and better upkeep of in-room refrigerators (defrost the iceberg occasionally) so the fridge cools like it's suppose to. Some great perks; the restaurant, otherwise known as the "Bistro" has amazing staff and great food. Limited menu makes it always hot, fresh and enjoyable and then there's a staff nothing can be beat with crew. Deja is their hidden gem. This young lady deserves a promotion and possibly a different position/career path or position where her sparkling attitude, professionalism and strengths can be utilized to make any business shine! The pool is gorgeous and clean. Ensure to contact the hotel directly to ensure amenities are open & functional. As Bonvoy website, app, & other sites may not be updated appropriately The Marriott Courtyard lobby is clean and inviting. The front desk "seems" to attempt their best to accommodate and provide excellent service. I did over hear the front desk young lady call me "crazy". But, I'm okay with that - after all, who isn't? We stayed in the executive king suite on the 7th floor, was spacious & clean. Gorgeous view to the west. Housekeeping did an excellent job - going above & beyond our requests of extra linens, pillows, blankets & setting up our roll-away I can not emphasize enough to confirm with phone calls to the front desk because the Bonvoy website/app is not always accurate of what amenities, parking, promotions, and packages actually include. All can be quite confusing to someone who has not visited this hotel. Previously been in the industry for 20+ years. I see this as an opportunity for them to nickel and dime you to death. The Bonvoy website & app allows you to select 2 adults & 2 children (17 & under) for a room - yet, selecting the breakfast "package" only includes 2 adults & 2 kids (12 & under) .... My number one choice will always be the JW Marriot for a downtown GR hotel! Location is great, price is the same, the service is always above and beyond, and you never have to doubt the quality of the linens lol @Kylene G - it's spelled Melisa , not Melissa ** also, watch pending vs actual charges for your final cost - upon checkin there was a $45 per night (odd amount) deposit required .... There was a scrapbooking convention and a few sports teams, but I found that the accommodations were pretty quiet on the sixth floor. The host was able to change our room to a room that had not had a dog in it for over a month due to severe allergies (anaphylactic). The kickback meals were huge and delicious, and they had allergy friendly options for both of breakfast and the dinner for my big Allergy baby. There was a small fridge in the room that worked so well it froze a lot of our supplemental food we brought for those of us with allergies. The room was clean. We had laundry on our floor, which was incredibly helpful when my baby product exposed to an allergen. The front desk was able to take the cache I had and give me quarters for the machines. They had speed queen machines, which were efficient, but they definitely could've used a little bit of a cleaning. I didn't expect a lot since it was a hotel, laundry room but I was pleasantly surprised. If you don't have any allergies staying at a brewery, can save you so much money with all of the food choices. This is one of the best ones I've ever seen, and all of the staff was kind helpful, and communicated very well. Unfortunately, we didn't do the pool much just because of how packed and insane it was... the weight room could've definitely used a little spruce up. There were only three treadmills a recumbent bike and dumbbells up to 35 pounds. I was still able to get an OK workout in with the dumbbells, but a mat and inflating the ball would really go a long way. This hotel is an excellent area close to a target/Starbucks a Meijer 5 to 10 minutes from Cascades Park, which was perfect for my kids to get a little energy out after our travel day. It had a little living room and then a bathroom separated us to the bedroom with 2 queens. TBH I've been in a deluxe room at a Drury and this was smaller. It fit us. But it was a bit smaller. The room had a desk which was nice, the couch wasn't bad, and the bathroom was ok. I think it could have been a bit larger. The tub is shallow so not a lot of baths going on. I wish they had one of those modern sleek showers instead. Oh and bathroom doesn't have a fan. Thought that was weird. Beds were comfy. I liked that there are a lot of plugs in the room. But they are plugs not direct USB connections. Again older hotel I think. The breakfast was good. Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal, waffles, a definite variety. The happy hour dinner is also decent. We really did not partake. But went to the happy hour 1 night and got our drinks. They were good and the bartender super nice. There were lots of family's eating. It was nice but they were mostly pigs and didn't clean up after themselves and left a giant mess. Not hotels fault. People are just rude and entitled. 1 particular family destroyed their area. Even left swim towels in their area for the staff to clean up. Anyway, not hotels fault. This is easy to find right off the highway. Easy to get in. To get out go between the gas station and McDonalds for the light. Otherwise you'll never go left out of there.
