We have 2 Alsation dogs, who the LandLady admitted were well behaved, but she asked us not to bring them with us again. This venue must not be advertised as being "Dog Friendly" anymore. The LandLady claimed our dogs were scaring children. We were sitting outside in the beer garden and one of the two children in the beer garden came over to stroke our dogs. The little boy was only a toddler and he loved them! Our dogs enjoyed him petting them, the only other child in the beer garden was a young girl approx 13 years old, she didn't have any interaction either good or otherwise with our dogs. When asked about which child was scared of them, she said it was herself! We had eaten meals and had 2 rounds of drinks prior to being asked not to bring the dogs ever again. They had done nothing wrong, to warrant being barred other than being big dogs. My partner and I were deeply offended and will never return with or without the dogs.

The interior is friendly and comfortable and the outside (smoking) area is pleasant even for non-smokers in fine weather with a large covered area for those more inclement times. The beers are Hydes and can be recommended to all real ale drinkers, although the pub also caters very well for those who prefer keg and or bottled. Just as a bonus, the prices are typical of a Hydes establishment and far more reasonable than other local pubs.
