History
Established in 1986.
Originally opened as Yurechko's Academy Florist around 1986, it was then bought about ten years later and the name changed to Podjan's Academy Florist. In 2004, the current owners purchased the business and changed the name to Academy Florist's Brandon and became independent in 2008, changing their name to The BloomBox. Recently we became the only florist in Brandon to have an AIFD Certified florist when Trish earned the honor of being invited by her peers to join this elite group of professionals. We are a family run business with 2 full time employees and we make floral arrangements ranging from the traditional to the eccentric. We have our own delivery van and provide service to Brandon MB and Shilo MB. During the holidays we employ the help of local charities such as Lion's and Rotary clubs to help deliver our flowers. We hope to see you in our little corner of Brandon!
Meet the Business Owner: Trish and Shaun F.
We met in 2000 and were married in 2003. Since then we have had 4 beautiful children, including the flower shop of course! Our journey to owning The BloomBox were on two very different paths. Trish has worked in the floral industry since she was 15, briefly interrupted by university and college, but decided she had found her calling. She has been at The BloomBox since 1998 and spent the ten years managing before purchasing the business. In contrast, Shaun moved to Brandon for school and after meeting Trish decided to stick around. After receiving his Red Seal and journeyman status for agricultural technician, he decided to try something completely different and went into real estate sales. Shortly after that the flower shop became available and it seemed the perfect fit for both. The dream of owning our own business and working together came true and we are loving every minute of it....well, mostly, but who said there wouldn't be some bumps?
