She put my foils on super quickly also. She walked away and didn't come back. A young girl finally came after awhile to take me to wash my hair. She did an ok job-a quick little head massage. She then took me back to the chair and started blow drying my hair--simply to get most of the dampness out. The stylist finally came over and finished the drying. I was kind of shocked that she didn't even check the cut once done. She threw a bit of some kind of oil on my hair and was done. The color was like mud. I had asked for some chunky lowlights...I ended up with pretty much an all over color. I left it looking limp and flat. The whole service was about an hour and 10 minutes. I guess she rushed it since I was there close to closing. I figured I'd restyle it at home. The next morning, it was so oily, I washed it. I couldn't do anything with it because the cut was horrible. I immediately called and left a message and emailed the salon. I got an email to come in later that day. Another guy did what he could to fix it. It still is horrible. I haven't worn it down since they messed it up. Also, the color was bad. There is a big splotch of dark brown right under the top layer. I didn't see this till I was going to pull it up I went in with a completely blank slate--my hair was pretty much all white. I left with a really bad disaster. For the $200+ dollars I was charged, I'd expect to love my hair and get much better service. This is anything but a luxury/upscale salon. I'm totally disappointed with the botched job. I HATE it. The Curl Doula is located along Stirling Rd. behind Crystal Vision in a big brown gazebo looking building called Treehouse Beauty Suites. Parking is limited. The inside of the building was nicely decorated with antique furniture and had a few rooms where individuals run their independent business. Deanna, who specializes in natural hair and coloring, is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about curly hair and techniques on how to care for your natural curls. Before she began the wash service, she examined my hair and asked about my hair routine. Then she discussed what I was doing wrong and gave me tips on how to embrace my natural curls and how to properly care for my hair to achieve healthy hair & growth. She even showed me before and after pics of her clients. I can honestly say, the experience I had with Deanna, I never had with any other hair stylist. She took her time cleansing my hair with a gentle scalp massage while slowly running her fingers through my hair. She showed me how tightly coiled my natural curls were and how soft my hair was becoming. I was amazed. My hair was left to air dry to lock the curls in place. I have never sported my natural curls before so it will take some getting used to. I will practice Deanna's hair care tips and keep watch on my hair's progress.

I got to the salon and she exceeded every expectation. First of all her salon was clean, smelled lovely and the ambiance was nice. I had a scalp that was aggravated due to stress workload and she knew just what to do and was so nurturing. She styled my hair just like I wanted but more importantly my scalp was so happy and calm!
