Over the years there have been numerous barbers shops opening but closing fairly quickly. It has now become a regular occurrence in the area for Turkish barbers to attempt to swamp the area but to no avail which is shame all guys love a hot towel shave. Notwithstanding that there is one Turkish barbers who seems to have got it right and it is used by mostly teenagers for " tribal" haircuts but I'm way far to old for that, however do we really need 12 barbers in less than a mile of each other

However every day, and especially the weekend, the Village Gentry is the busiest. The reason - they're the best. Inside the Gentry has had a bit of a facelift and it's a nice place to be, even if you're not getting your haircut. Long comfy benches, newspapers and magazines to read, Radio 2 or 6 Music on for your listening pleasure, and the owner Michael holding court and conversing and joking with everyone while he cuts hair. As far as haircuts go, the staff are great and happy to do anything you want with your hair and do it to the highest of standards and for one of the cheapest prices in Cumbernauld. The Gentry also does hot towel shaves - by appointment only. These are the most expensive shaves in the area, but they are worth the extra money. Michael took classes from the best to master his technique and it shows. This isn't just a regular shave, this is the most relaxing and pampered hour of your life, and it makes you feel like a million dollars.

As it's recently opened, there are still a few bits and bobs that need done around the shop but its starting to look good so far and Brian mentioned all the little things he's going to do with the place (He's completed a lot of the refurb by himself). Brian was very friendly and easy to chat to. As he's a local he knew most of the customers by name which was nice. He gave me a great haircut (best I've had from a local barbers) and was dirt cheap, which made me tip him as I felt it was a bit of steal! I'd definitely recommend this barbers and will be back when my hair starts to over grow again.
