The premier issue is on newsstands now. From their website: We see a growing number of people tied together not by age, career, background, or circumstance, but by a shared interest. This revolves around a passion for potential mixed with fierce pragmatism and creative engagement. We sum all this up as the sensibility of giving a damn. But to shorten it, let's call it GOOD. We're here to push this movement and cover its realization. For while so much of today's media is taking up our space, dumbing us down, and impeding our productivity, GOOD exists to add value. So here's our first issue. We worked hard to give you something that you'll like.

The Jewish Journal of Los Angeles is one of the largest Jewish newspapers in the USA. It's main…read morefocus is on the Jewish community in the LA area, and it is a very enjoyable read. The writing is not nearly as formal as The Jerusalem Post and not as informal as YNETNEWS. It reminds me a lot of a news magazines such as TIME, since there are many articles about international affairs, US politics, pop culture, food recipes and travel. I love collecting poetry books and every once in a while they will feature some famous Jewish poets such as Hayyim Nahman Bialik, Yehuda Amichai, David Shimoni or Abraham Sutzkever. I am not Jewish, but I must say the writing in this magazine is top notch! I love reading short stories, and you will usually find a few great stories in each issue. Many of the columnists have a very straight forward approach in the Journal. The writing is simple, but interesting. The tone is very light hearted and has an a unique way of keeping you reading page after page. There are many great columns, but I really enjoy reading the Gina Nahai column. Nahai focuses on the immigrant experience and the challenges they face assimilating into American society. There are many themes from being religious or secular, and the struggle to balance traditional vs. modern values while still trying to maintain your heritage. There are many great articles about the ups and downs of life, and you will find many subjects from challenging stereotypes to sustaining cultural values, and forgiveness to acceptance. The writing can be funny, witty, and joyful or sad and full of sorrow. Yet, there is a still hopeful way of looking at life that transcends religious and national boundaries. Regardless of whatever your personal or religious convictions may be, I recommend you read the Jewish Journal. If you love short stories, check out this magazine!
