I look forward to Thursdays and the new edition of the Beach Reporter!! While it does have a lot about real estate, it is so much more. If you live in the South Bay, it is the best source of information for what's going on. There are great reviews of restaurants, ads of new places, coupons, etc. And the weekly full page ad for Fry's on the back. (too they will tell you where the DUI checkpoints on the weekends.) They actually redesigned it and moved the Real Estate section to the complete back of the paper. read more

This is the local newspaper you need when searching for real estate in the beach cities: Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo. Just about half the paper is listings.....the latest on what is available to buy, including pictures of the properties & open house dates......even better info than the internet in this category. If there was a minus star rating for what I call the Beach Distorter which is now being used to line my bird cage. They pander so much to the Real Estate advertisers that the "journalists" are not really journalists and it only prints what their advertisers tell them to print. I wrote a letter carefully worded to be accurate and they did everything possible to not print it and the assigned Journalist was rude as well. They do not deserve to the be the official newspaper of Manhattan Beach . I agree with the review that says the letters to the Editor are an "embarrassment " to Manhattan Beach and the Distorter. I'm a fan of the beach reporter- a nice, free, easy read full of the 'goings on' in the beach cities. It was very helpful when looking for a place to rent when my husband and I first came out to LA. read more

I agree with everything Marisa and Joan have written before me about the real estate ads. However, I'm not such a big fan of their editorial content. How many photos can they print of a random government official shaking another random government official's hand while at some ceremony? The stories are a bit better, but sometimes read like a script of a city council meeting that I could not possibly care less about. read more
