Walked into The Primitive Porch hoping for some cozy fall décor -- maybe a pumpkin, maybe a…read more"gather" sign, maybe just a whiff of cinnamon and sanity. Instead, I was blindsided by what can only be described as a full-scale North Pole invasion... in early November. There were trees. There were lights. There were carols. I swear a ceramic Santa winked at me while I was still trying to process the fact that it was 72 degrees outside and my jack-o'-lantern was still holding on. Don't get me wrong -- I love Christmas as much as the next caffeine-fueled Midwesterner, but I'd at least like to digest my Halloween candy before I'm peer-pressured into buying an elf-themed potholder.

The Primitive Porch was a place my friend knew I'd love to shop and she was correct. The store is…read moretwo levels and filled to the brim with well organized merchandise for those who enjoy primitives, country, rustic, seasonal, and farmhouse decor. Note, candles are burning and the aroma can be a bit much for sensitive noses such as my husband. I had no problems but just be aware. Primitive Porch just moved into this location in February, 2018, which use to be the home of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. They kept the book section and Cafe from the Lighthouse Bookstore. Smoothies and sandwiches are just steps away from the shopping. You can easily spend an hour plus browsing all the unique pieces throughout this large store. Seasonal items are gorgeous, primitive everything (well, almost), all types of candles, beautiful quilts, florals, pottery, shelves, cabinets, furniture and so much more will keep you busy. The second floor has a large women's boutique with a dressing room and even more home decor. Jewelry and scraves can be found downstairs by checkout. Outdoors, by the entrance, is patio furniture and garden decor plus many cement statues. The staff was so helpful and friendly! The prices are reasonable and affordable. Terrific shop for gift giving for any occasion.

Nice curtains. Got here quick. The trouble is they are the wrong size and a complete waste of $60…read morebucks. They sell them as "48 x 63 pair". I assumed I was getting 2 - 48 x 63 panels. Not so. I got 2 - 24 x 63 panels. They could easily explain that in the product description.

I prefer to buy from catalogues that offer free shipping after paying a certain amount. Touch of…read moreClass does not offer free shipping. However, the catalog sent me a 20% off coupon which was a better deal so I took a chance and ordered something I'd been admiring. The box they sent my items in was very tall which was surprising because the items I ordered were small; less than 7 inches in height. The individual items were placed in one long piece of styrofoam. While the styrofoam did help the items arrive safely, it was messy and flakey and got all over my floor which I then had to vacuum right away. Another thing about styrofoam is that it is not biodegradable. I wish they used greener shipping materials. I believe sustainability is an important value to today's consumers. The items I ordered did look like the picture. However, the material was not as expected. I decided these wouldn't work for me so I, sadly, had to return them. I called the company to get a return label. It did not come in the box. The quote seemed high so I went to the post office to see if I could get a lower price. The post office price was exactly the same and even though the weight of the items was only a few pounds, the size of the box made it more costly to ship back which I felt could have been avoided due to the size of the individual items not being very large. It would have been a mess for me to take everything out and repackage it due to the styrofoam. I inquired why they did not have discounted labels. They said that my label was discounted. I told them their discounted label was the same price as the post office. They let me know that it was a discounted FedEx label. In my situation, the FedEx price was originally more than the USPS price. There was no option to get a discounted USPS label. Shipping is also taxed with this company so that adds on to an already high shipping cost. Also, it says on their website if you get free shipping and make a return that you then have to pay for shipping again both ways so I'm glad I had the 20% off coupon instead. There are positive things about this company which I must mention. The order did arrive in a timely manner. They were very responsive to my e-mails and calls. They also were very quick to refund my money (minus the expensive shipping costs). I felt they were honest with what their policies were and they were always polite when I called them. When it comes to catalogs online, I value low cost shipping on items and returns especially since I can't see the items in person first. I'm glad I tried this company and satisfied my curiosity but due to the high cost of returning my item, I don't think I will order from them again.
