I like shopping at The Base. There are plenty of stores to choose from, including my requisite baby gear/kids stores - Baby Factory, Baby City and Nurtured. Farmers also has a good supply of baby gear to choose from. It has both indoor and outdoor stores and a separate little outlet mall. The parking is plentiful and free, which is also a good reason to drive out here to shop instead of paying for parking at Centre Place in the CBD. There is a food court with the usual options in the indoor side of the mall and a block of eateries across the way as an outdoor food court. In the end, it's a mall. I do like that there is a fairly large green space and playground, which allows my husband and I to divide and conquer with the kids. This is handy. read more

Fairly standard mall (shopping center) for NZ'ed. Has many basic stores you look for in a mall. parking can be tight, though.

The is a nice airy shopping mall with all the usual suspects trading. It would have been nice to see something different for a change. This could be anywhere. read more

Nothing special about the Base, Just another shopping mall same as you see anywhere. Somewhere for the teenagers to hang out and meet their friends. Pretty boring otherwise. Need to add more variety of stores. As a hunting fishing camping type the Base has not much to offer. But offers plenty in the way of womens fashion stores. As does every mall l have ever been in. read more

I love the base and Te Awa! They have everything you need and more! Parking can be hard to find sometimes but for the most part it isn't a hassle. read more

Trelise Cooper has an outlet store here, I'm not a Trelise type of person but it often seems busy. The NZSale shop sells men's women's and kids fashion. There is a Backdoor Surf shop with good deals and Converse sells shoes and clothes, I picked up some well made socks for the gym. The Make Up Clearance shop looks very budget. I don't wear much make up but would have gone in to snap up a bargain if I did. There is a Cotton On Kids and Pumpkin Patch which I'm told is a fanfic place to score bargains for your little ones. Anyone who dislikes shopping will be happy that the stores are concentrated into a small mall which doesn't take much time at all to cover. Food wise this part of The Base is pretty thin, just a BBs Cafe and Smart Sushi. I grabbed an avo hand roll which was average.
