I was afraid someone was gonna come yell at me for dropping the weights here there was a huge camera in front of me
Elaine K.

I saw the pictures and f platforms and serious weight equipment on Yelp so I decided to drop in while in town for thanksgiving weekend to visit family. I train olympic weightlifting so a commercial gym would not cut it. I called they said $20 for 3 days so I thought that was a deal. The employee went on to let me know to bring a FULL SIZE TOWEL. I was already on my way so I stopped into Walmart on Black Friday for one towel. I get there and they want you to Ly it down on any surface you sit on. I was squatting and snatching, and clean and jerking so I didn't need any bench equipment or sitting/laying down so I did not even use my towel at all. I wish they would've explained what it was for from the get go. The whole place smells like cleaning solution which is good and bad. I'm glad it's clean but inhaling the fumes from cleaning solution while working out is so toxic. I hope they consider going all natural cleaner. The owner walked around and was nice but you can tell she is very strict about all the rules. There are signs on the walls all over this gym. One read "you chalk, you walk." I train oly lifts, I pretty much bathe in chalk (I didn't bring any) but still why I've all the platforms and equipment if you can't actually comfortably train. I always clean up after myself and I understand having that standard but I was afraid of getting yelled at the whole time I was there which made me wanna hurry and leave. I bit the $20 and did not return. They have so many plates and bars and equipment but zero 15kg bars so I had to use a 20kg bar to do oly lifts. The bumper plates were off brand and incorrect color/weight coordination by a lot. The plates on the squat racks were all iron plates. The elliptical machines were old and squeaking. I could go on. I did not enjoy this gym despite all the pictures that drew me in initially. If I lived in town I would not join. I'm sorry to say because I live and breathe in gyms and gym equipment is my favorite. The lighting was so dark and music was old school rock like Motley Crue (I love Motley Crue but for working out?!) ... I wasn't digging the vibe. Im sure a lot of people thrive here, I definitely would not. I can't live in fear while I'm exercising. Im an adult avid gym goer and can be given the benefit of the doubt that I will clean after myself and care for the equipment.

The Backstreet Gym - Serious Fitness Bookmark Checked!! Yes...I'm a Yelper that doesn't immediately bookmark restaurants when I'm out of town. I bookmark gyms. I've had this place bookmarked since February and can't believe it took me this long to head out here to beat up on some weights. IFBB Pro Bodybuilder and Power-Lifter Mary Ellen Jerumbo is the CEO/Owner of the Backstreet Gym. I had the pleasure to meet her and witness her train. She knows what's she's doing and her staff respects that heck out of her. Mary Ellen is a very nice woman and manages to greet her members and non-members when she's on the floor. She left no stone unturned when she had this gym built. This gym has everything and I mean everything. Do the research (www.backstreetgym.com). I've heard that Mary Ellen invested nearly a million dollars on this gym. That's dedication to perfection, a perfect gym that is. Here are a couple of highlights: -A ton of free-weights and benches. They even have 200 lb dumbbells for those that can lift them. -They have a separate room for powerlifting with at least 4 power racks, more benches, a powerlifting platform, and my favorite...steel weights. I love the sound of real weights clanging against each rep. Music to my ears!! -Treadmills, recumbent/stationary bikes, ellipticals, and stair-monsters. Yes, they have a lot of these and with their own TV screens. -The gym is quiet. I've been here at 5 AM, 9 AM, 5 PM, and 10 PM. The gym goers here check in, do what they gotta do, and then get out. -Super Clean: This has to be the most organized and cleanest gym that I've been to. This starts with the staff and ends with its members. You won't find a speck of dust here, every piece of equipment is working, and every one re-racks their weights. -The equipment is all strategically placed by body part. This is a big deal for those that do a lot of Giant Sets and Supersets. Another fact about their equipment is that they're all functional. Yes, that means working. That also means that they got the "right" equipment. You know, the type of equipment that maximizes time under tension, muscle hypertrophy, and at the same time, minimizing mechanical leverage. This gym may be labeled a "Serious Gym", but it's not intimidating at all. The staff and members welcome all people at all levels of fitness at this gym. Unlike the purple gym down the street that discourages big lifts and intense workouts, this gym accepts everyone. By far, this is the best gym that I have worked out at. Great Job, Mary Ellen!! Now, build a gym like this in Vegas. Yeah Buddy!! TIP: -Call for their rates. I got their Week Pass for $40. I think their Monthly Membership is around the same price. -Weekday Hours 4:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Friday through Sunday's vary and closes earlier.

If you drive by, it's your own fault.

Luxury. Tech. Vibes. This is the gym El Paso's been waiting for…read more I found it, y'all -- the it gym. Kinective Fitness in El Paso is where fitness, fun, and a little bit of bougie all collide in the best way possible. This place is more than a gym -- it's a two-story-plus-rooftop experience that somehow manages to feel upscale and welcoming. Think boutique hotel vibes meet high-tech wellness playground. Let's start with the first floor: it's stunning. The aesthetic is modern, spacious, and designed with intention -- every detail feels thought out. The front desk team was so friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in (even when I had a little misunderstanding about my visit -- more on that later). There's a healthy café right by the entrance serving smoothies and food that fits every lifestyle, including vegan options. They even have a secret door that leads to a massage therapist's suite -- yes, an actual hidden door. There's also a retail section stocked with Lululemon and gym swag, so if you forget something, they've got you covered. Parents, take note -- there's also an on-site kids' daycare on the first floor, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. It's clean, bright, and makes it so much easier for members with little ones to actually enjoy their workout time without stress. The first floor also houses the HIIT training room -- dark, moody lighting, TRX straps, and those curved, motorless treadmills that make you feel like a machine. MetCon classes happen here too, and if you're serious about lifting, you'll find top-notch equipment plus unique tools for competitors or physique athletes. You'll also spot the personal training offices, a compression therapy area (available for an extra fee), and super clean locker rooms with everything -- infrared sauna, steam room, zero-gravity massage chairs, tons of vanity space, and more showers than I could count. The second floor keeps the wow factor going with tons of cardio equipment overlooking the first level and massive windows with mountain views. This is also where you'll find The Trip, and honestly, this alone makes the membership worth it. The Trip is a next-level immersive cycle class -- think virtual-reality-meets-spin-studio. You ride through projected worlds on enormous screens, and it's all synced to music and visuals. The bikes are smooth, and the tech setup is seriously impressive. You even check in via small digital screens before class. That said, my only real miss came during The Trip. As a first-time guest, I didn't get any help setting up my bike, and the instructor didn't acknowledge new riders. Thankfully, another member helped me out -- shoutout to friendly gym people everywhere -- but I wish someone had guided me through that first experience. It's a small thing that makes a big difference, especially in a high-end gym like this. After class, I met Jeff, the general manager, who gave me a full tour -- and he was phenomenal. Super professional, friendly, and passionate about the space. He explained how every class syncs to your Connective app, showing your heart rate and stats in real-time on giant projectors (unless you choose to opt out). It's all very tech-forward, which I love. Upstairs you'll also find Pilates Reformer classes (extra fee), yoga and barre studios, and even a meditation-only room -- dark, quiet, with twinkling ceiling lights and soft music. It's honestly a dream. Every floor has its own bathrooms (thank you!), and everything is spotless and thoughtfully designed. And then -- the rooftop. The vibe up here is unreal. There's a track for running or walking, kettlebells, monkey bars, and a full outdoor workout setup with mountain views. At night, it transforms into this elevated hangout space with misters, ambient lighting, and even a bar serving drinks. They host events up here too, and you don't have to be a member to book one. I came in on a free trial day, but you'd never know it from how I was treated -- the staff was wonderful, and I felt like a valued member. They also offer day passes, week passes, and flexible memberships. So, the hits? Pretty much everything. The design, the energy, the tech, the amenities -- this place nails the luxury fitness experience. The misses? Just a couple small service gaps during my first visit. But overall, Kinective Fitness is absolutely the boutique gym of El Paso -- where wellness meets wow. There's a second location coming soon ! (Plano , TX)

This studio offers three different classes: classic pure barre; empower (which is more of a cardio workout); and reform (which is more Pilates based and incorporates resistance tubes). I love all three classes. The regular barre class incorporates small movements where you use your own body weight as resistance and then you stretch intermittently throughout class. I've always loved fitness but Pure Barre is by far my favorite work out! Plus, the people at this studio are amazing! I can honestly say being at the barre is my happy place. If you are even the tiniest bit curious, check it out! Worst case scenario you will get an amazing workout. Best case scenario it will change your life! She was able to get me a free trial while I am visiting here for Memorial Day weekend/to celebrate my nieces' birthdays. We came here three times already! Friday and today we took the classic class, with Erica Friday and Heather today. We took owner Salina's empower class on Saturday. The workout is very challenging but the instructors were motivating and corrected my wonky posture as needed. They seemed to know all clients' names and called out compliments to people by name throughout the class. The studio is spacious and clean. On Friday, we got free wine after the class! I also got free scented epsom salt as a newbie. I definitely was sore after each class! This is a nice community of women and a great addition to the area!

It's a nice looking spacious club (2 stories high) and bigger than it looks on the outside. The 1st floor had weights (machines and free weights. The 2nd floor has cardio machines, and a room for women specifically, which was pretty cool. There were separate classrooms for yoga/Zumba, cycling, HIIT classes with rowing and stair machines, and a class for boxing with equipment.
