I live overseas so was unable to view the car in person, but I did speak with Darren the owner and asked a lot of clear direct questions to get a feel for the condition of the car before I flew over to collect it. One of which was the condition of the clutch which I was told was fine and in normal order. I picked up the car at closing time (the owner did wait for me as I had been delayed on the train from the airport). It soon became apparent as I drove the car back to the ferry port the clutch was obviously at the end of it's life, anything more than moderate acceleration resulted in total clutch slippage. The car could barely make its way up the loading ramp for the cross channel ferry. Suffice to say as soon as I got home I had to spend nearly 1000EUR which I had not budgeted for to get a useable car. The owner clearly thought 'overseas buyer, easy money' and to be fair thats a risk I took. Does not say much for his business practices or concern over reputation (perhaps the reason for the business name change). All I can say is, buy elsewhere, this business does not care as long as they get your money.

I called them, parson attended told me can repair any time in 3 months time because of warranty. I couldn't go to them at that day because I'm working full time. But the person attended told me to contact a private insurance company because they only do woks in first month and for next 2 months I have to contact and arrange with insurance company . It isn't clear to see from glance, but they do actually offer a large range of cars, and they say that if you can find the car you are looking for then they will find it for you. In addition, they also buy cars from customers. From the front, the establishment looks crowded and dated, however the service you receive is better than most garages. I did also find that some of the cars didn't have their price displayed on the dashboard which I found a little irritating. The staff at Staple Hill Motor Co. are extremely friendly and welcoming. They in no way pressure you to purchase anything, and don't hassle you while you are browsing which is important to me.

At first, everything seemed to be fine. Then after a couple of days we all started noticing the smell. The smell of death. He completely and thoroughly cleaned the entire car, inside and out. Still the smell of death. The next thing that happened was that whilst driving along, £40 suddenly fell down from the steering column. Very strange. Then the whole car proceeded to fall apart, piece by piece. I think that by now, my unfortunate friend has had to spend more on fixing the thing than it actually cost him in the first place. It all seems a bit dodgy to me, but of course this could be an isolated incident. I'll leave you to make up your own minds.

The downside is the fact that they continually push their service plus option onto me. I almost snapped the last time they told me about it. We have had problems since day 1 with the car and have now reached the point where Harlequin are refusing to authorise warranty work on the vehicle and are now not returning our emails or phone calls.
