My mother in law…read morewas there from the summer of 2025 and left before Christmas 2025 because she was paying the highest level of care but not receiving care. My husband would visit daily. She was not getting her weekly showers and received frequent UTI's. She was not changed when wet and her sheets were soiled. She wore a gold cross necklace and her gold chain was replaced with a cheap chain. She lost 10 pounds in 3 months not always taken to the dining room. There were activities planned but they did not always happen because there was no staff available. PT's were not consistent and she was not making progress with walking. It was not uncommon to see employees sitting on their phones throughout the building. Not sure if they were on their breaks or not. Several residents said that things were better last year. We left Brookdale in Brookfield off Bluemound Road and took my mother in law to a different facility. At the new facility, she has always been dressed with her earrings on and eats in the dining room. At the new facility she is getting her baths and is able to walk the length of the PT room now. She eats in the dining room and participated in social activities daily.

Response time from the help button was seconds and minutes, not the horror stories I hear about other nursing homes. Upon entering, there is a large open area and from there you can see into the kitchen and dining room. The halls are wide and each room has a small area that many of the residents use to display items or seasonal decor. Given our visit was in November, there was a lot of fall or harvest type items on or near the doors to several of the units. Because we have a large family, we made use of their common room, which while a bit narrow, is well-appointed and has a large island as well as several tables and sets of chairs, plus a couple sinks. Really my only issue here was the "sign in" process. The front desk person wasn't assisting any residents or on the phone, but could not be bothered to help anyone with their tablet used to sign in and print a name badge. The badges themselves were useless--my husband never wore his and no one batted an eye for the entirety of the visit.

I do volunteer entertainment work so any assisted living-skilled nursing facility I review is going to be good at scheduling social activity and cultural stimulation for patients and residents, but St. Anne's seems extra special in this department. The outside isn't so attractive but the insides are clean and comfortable, the chapel is lovely and there are many friendly gathering rooms. Family and friends seem quite welcome but the most remarkable thing about this place is that the food is good, though they did foist some decaffeinated coffee on me.

The friend was probably just scared and concerned, but she was being pretty insulting, loud and unhelpful. The staff didn't take it personally and handled the whole situation in a way that hardly anyone around even noticed what was really going on. Of course I don't know how typical this is, but if it is typical I would say the residents are in good hands here.
