When I put my back out so badly I couldn't walk (dancing in high heels, so totally my fault) I went to the Medibank site and found a Members Choice Chiropractor near me. The search engine spat out 'The Ashgrove Spinal Centre' and I'm so glad it did!
This is a family run practice, and it's not uncommon to see Dr Robert Bailey's lovely wife Renee behind the desk with one of their daughters filling in for their receptionist. When I first went there, I discussed my history of spinal problems, and Rob sent me off to have extensive spinal X-rays. I've never had a Chiropractor request this before, and it was really interesting to see exactly what was going wrong with my spine. This helped him set a treatment plan that actually worked as it eliminated all the guess work.
Another thing I really like about this clinic is that Rob is a very conservative Chiro. He doesn't advocate any extreme treatments, and is always careful to ensure there's adequate time between appointments so the spine doesn't get over manipulated. He takes a real interest in his patients and it often feels like I've dropped in for a chat as opposed to visited a medical professional. He has recently invested in an ultrasound machine, which he tells me will help patients identify the muscles they need to be using to help fix their spinal alignment. After all my confusion during Pilates classes (just where the hell is my core muscle and how do I tense it??) I am looking forward to trying that one out.
If you want a really good Chiropractor who takes a genuine interest in fixing your spine and isn't out to fleece you, go to The Ashgrove Spinal Centre. read more
