My mom has been in two other memory care facilities and neither one could hold a candle to the Oaks. The staff is so caring and loving. They treat all the residents like family. The management gets down and dirty with the care staff. Not one of them is hesitant to help care for a resident. I can go on forever in praising the Oaks. I am so thankful that Shelley was persistent in sending me emails inviting me to the upcoming events. That is what led me to choose Oaks when it was time for Mom to move.

My mother is very happy living here and she comments often about how kind everyone is. The food is great, they have Chef Mark to plan and prepare the meals. I wish I could eat so well! The staff really go the extra mile, they let me know if there have been any changes with my mom, even if it's something minor. Mom's room is always clean, her laundry is done several time a week and is folded/put away for her. Her bed linens are changed once a week, the trash in her room is emptied daily. I would love to live here one day. Andrew, the Executive Director, is always out and about. He knows all of the residents by name and knows details about each one. He knew me by name before I had even moved my mom in. The Executive Directors at two other communities where my mom lived prior to the Oaks never left their offices and didn't know my name, even though I visited 4-7 days a week. Lynne, the Horizons activities director, is amazing. She has so many great things planned, my mom loves going for rides on the community bus, even if it's just the "scenic joyride" around Woodstock. My mother has lived at three other AL and memory care communities and the Oaks is by far the best. I visited four communities before selecting the Oaks. I also asked around a lot, talked to many people in the industry, including the caregivers, CNAs, etc. They all said how great the Oaks is and how much they would love to work there if given the chance.

I live in one of the independent buildings and more often then not, we have no hot water. I usually wake up around 2-3am to shower to get some mildly warm, not hot, water. I have complained to management but always get the same answer, "we are working on it". My family is looking to move me as soon as we can find a place. Management should be ashamed, we are all older people living here and pay quite a lot of money, money which includes meals. The food is not good, it is cold and often they don't order enough to give all what we ordered. We have spoken to the chef and the Director, both seem to do nothing. Current but looking to be former resident!

Winnwood Retirement Community is really a community with support and concern expressed in a variety of ways. The campus is beautiful! There are a few things prospective residents need to be aware of. The smell of cigarettes is pervasive throughout the campus--in the dining area, near the entrances of buildings, and sometimes in the parking lot. The smell permeates clothing and affects my breathing. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Dinner is inconsistent in quality and in portion size. Dinners are tasty about 80% of the time; sometimes portions are small. The grand piano is beautiful, and I played it often for several weeks last summer. However, the action of the keys is so stiff that my shoulders could not tolerate the physical challenge of playing that piano as it is right now. If the cigarette issue were resolved, dinners were consistently tasty, and the piano were adjusted so that it's playable, I could give Winnwood an unequivocal 5! I can heartily recommend almost all of the people here. It's a pleasant place to live!

The facility is clean, the staff truly tries. I feel comfortable knowing that my mother is in s good professional environment. There is a schedule that residents seem to like and follow. Breakfast in the morning, lunch at 12, dinner at 5. Also 3 pm coffee hour that is a fun social hour with music playing in the garden area. In terms of activities there is a variety. Mom's favorite is Bingo. Birthday parties which involve relatives planning with the social director are an added plus. Seems my mother has more parties to attend than I do. Plus during holidays, the socials are well planned such as the recent Mother's Day celebration with music and delicious appetizers or Christmas with Secret Santa or Halloween themes. Mass on Fridays is something my mother looks forward to. The residents are nice and well dressed with nice manners. Conservative but friendly and kind. Insignia Caparra in PR is a wonderful place for Seniors with different levels. I know it is a difficult and sad decision when one has to consider placing a parent at a Senior Living place. Glad I found Insignia. It was a hard decision to make but Insignia made us feel that we can trust them with our mother who we love dearly and want the best for her.

I think the other reviewer on here may not be cut out for this line of work. I also noticed she's never reviewed anything in a positive light. 2 stars max. Suzanne and Chuck went out of their way to make the adjustment as smooth as possible. After a few short weeks, she loved it there. All the workers were extremely kind to her. Eventually my mom was placed in their memory care and I was happy with the care she was given. They helped get my mom on hospice and kept me aware of the hospice staff and how they were doing. The biggest gratefulness I have towards Benton House is when my mom fell and fractured her back. We thought for sure she would have to be placed in a nursing home.
