It's not all the staff's fault and most are good people (while a few are cunning liars) - this corporate devils that own this place exploit it for profit at human expense. It's literally next to impossible to reach anybody on the phone most of the time (phones ring and ring, few voice mails) and staff prohibits email communication, which leaves no other option for external family members, especially during Covid. I highly suggest everybody read the NY Times front page article dated March 13, 2021 entitled "Maggots, Rape and Yet Five Stars: How U.S. Ratings of Nursing Homes Mislead the Public" for more information on how this system works behind the scenes.

My child really had no reason to be in the NICU other than precautionary measures while waiting 3 days for some test results. So, you can imagine my surprise when I received the phone call that his NICU doctor (who we didn't care for) ordered he start therapy here immediately. The reasoning was that he was preterm (he was a week early by induction) and had muscle weakness (at a month old he is already holding his own head up). Though I was not a happy camper that I even had to come to this appointment, I will be fair and not take it out on them in this review. If we were reviewing my NICU doctor, we'd be here all day long and then some, but I digress. This is a really nice facility, and though I only saw the pediatrics area, there were quite a few different types of therapy areas you could attend here. The admissions department was pretty efficient, albeit very tiny and narrow. These are things you don't notice till you are a mother toting a child in a large stroller. I was in and out, waiting in the pediatrics area in no time. The physical therapist we had was an absolute sweetheart. Very patient with my son who wanted nothing to do with anything she was doing, and who of course needed to eat and be changed as soon as the appointment started. She assured me after everything was said and done that my son is just fine and has no business in physical therapy- which is what we as well as his pediatrician thought all along. She also gave me the option of canceling the remaining years worth of appointments the aforementioned NICU doctor ordered. Good times. This is a great facility should you find yourself in need of physical therapy. However, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad I won't be returning here in the foreseeable future.

Grace Healthcare is a House of Horrors. My father was placed there after a minor medical situation…read moreand after several weeks was transferred to a hospital and then died. The care, or lack thereof, received at Grace was horrendous. Incompetence was the order of the day and even Donni Dubert, the Director, agreed they didn't have adequate staff. I lived out of town and traveled frequently to Memphis while my father was there. On several occasions I brought to their attention that he had bed sores and they went weeks without treatment. For example, we found a bed sore on his heel that wasn't dressed and in direct contact with the sheets on several occasions. The facility uses a wound care specialist that the staff described as "too slow". Too slow as in never showing up. Each time I showed up my father hadn't been shaved (for days) or bathed and on several occasions had been left on the bed pan and had to yell for several minutes to get people's attention. His toenails grew very long and I was told they required a podiatrist to trim. I discussed with the Dr. and head of nursing Julie Atkeison and both said they would schedule. It never happened. I had long conversations about his care with Donni Dubert to no avail. For several days we tried to simply get a catheter replaced because the urine was cloudy and clumpy we were told there could be an infection. I found the urine bag so heavy on several occasions that it couldn't be hung. The office staff who was supposed to assist with medical forms was equally incompetent. Bottom line--do not let your loved ones be subjected to the uncaring and incompetent staff of Grace. Elderly people can go downhill quickly when they could, otherwise, recover. This place may only serve to accelerate the process of death of your loved one.

I understand the staff gets busy, but when I see 4-5 people in the hallway and someone needs to be taken to the restroom, it should not take 8-10 minutes to be taken, when you gotta go, you gotta... go. On a positive note, there were times when they came within 3-5 minutes. The majority of people here were nice, especially the psychologist, occupational and physical therapists. As with any hospital, it is important to visit family members and be sure they are being treated right. You have responsibilities, as well as they do. Be proactive in your health. On 10/14/2024 at 2 PM, I had sharp…read morechest pains and was rushed to Methodist North Hospital from Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Memphis. I left Encompass in just a spaghetti strap shirt, shorts, socks, and a blanket. Methodist did a series of tests and discharged me back to Encompass care. When I got back, I was told I had been discharged because I didn't make it back before midnight. I had been under Encompass care since October 3rd, and even though I rang my therapy bell on October 11th, I was kept there due to my high heart rate. There was no communication about any cut-off time when I was rushed to the hospital. I was given two options: wait to be readmitted in the morning or come get my belongings. So, at 1 AM, in the same clothes I left in, I had to retrieve my belongings. It was so unfair and distressing. I cried, begged, and pleaded for this issue to be resolved immediately as I was under their care. It's really disheartening to write this, especially after speaking so highly of the facility and staff. The ball was definitely dropped, and I hope no one else has to go through this.

They have 24/7 RN coverage, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and an awesome rehab dept that provides OT, PT and Speech. The Administrator is always making rounds on the halls and checking on the residents. One of the neatest things is that they have a program called Resident Voice where a dedicated customer service staff member advocates for great customer service by checking on the new admissions every day and asking what else they can do for them. They have got some really great and professional staff there and work really hard to ensure the residents and families are happy and have their needs met during their stay there.

They'll put her in a wheelchair to take her on a walk then just leave her sitting in it for 5+ hours, just sitting in the hallway. She communicates she wants to go back to her bed but no one listens and she just sits. Most of the time her diaper leaks and drips while she's sitting. She's just stuck in soiled,dripping diapers with nothing being done. And it's causing infections. They only give her a "shower" ONCE A FREAKING MONTH. please. If you love your parent don't send them here. I'm watching my mother's health decline because of this place and there's nothing I can do about it. It's a living hell.

My husband took me to Baptist and the nurses Maddie and Paige were good but the Doctor Rishan Desta had the worse bed side manners. I spoke with Pathway and told the lady that I had had a suicidal thought but I had no plan and that I was a rational person just sleep deprived. Talked to Pathway and counselor told me after about 45 minutes of talking that she wanted me to get in touch with Doctor in morning and start working on a sleep regiment. So you can imagine my shock when they come and tell me I am going to Lakeside by ambulance. I never argued with them. Wanted to know why my husband could not take me and they said Dr Desta worried I would jump out of the car. I am not that messed up and I told them it was all the medicines and I just needed help getting back on what worked for me. Know we are at Lakeside I get that at 2:30 went through 3 assessments and the last guy threatened me to sign an involuntary sheet. I argued bc I had come willing. He told me if I did not sign the form I would have all my rights removed and I would never buy a gun again. So after more discussion I signed the form. Also told them when I got there i needed my hear medicine over and over. They kept telling me I would get in on the unit. Skip forward to 3:00 am in the morning. I have now gone 24 hours with sleep. I get to the west wing and the Nurse there was not helpful and told me I had no medicine waiting on me and that I would have to wait till medicine time. Again no sleep bc at 5 I am listening to a lady yelling profanities and she ended up hitting a tech and it took several to take her down. This went on for about 30 minutes. Finally got my medicine and I finally got to call my husband who I had signed off for him to know everything that was going on with me. Imagine 2 days of no communication He was about to lose his mind. Skip forward a few hours and I finally see my Doctor who after talking to me said I did not belong on that wing and he was transferring me to the Landing. Can I just tell you when I got there my anxiety dropped tremendously. The Nurse Martina, Jennifer, tech Alex, Shawn and Joshua was the best. They would answer and questions and help in any way. But I ended up being there almost 7 full days and never laid eyes on my therapist till right before I was discharged. I asked for help but since being released and seeing a counselor and a Doctor I have been told my situation was handled so wrong on many levels. I feel for the others that are thrown to the wolves. If anxiety or panic is your trigger you should never be thrown in an area where the chaos is already so high. I want to find out to be an advocate for those that have no support when they get out and I think the system need some major updates. I understand staff is probably pretty shorthanded but compassion goes along ways in just starting the healing process.
