This is the worst apartment ever. I planned to keep the apartment throughout my deployment , but the amount of dead bugs I had to clean EVERYDAY changed my mind. I only lasted 4 months living here and 2 of those months I was away on military orders. The exterminator came 3 times throughout my time living here , but still the bugs would get in. I also encountered a mouse running into the apartment. Below I have attached a picture of how my apartment looked after just a month of me being gone. Those spots are all bugs .Also plan on paying almost $100 plus on your rent because of the fees. The complex also locks you out of the portal where you pay the day you move out. Very inconvenient when you're leaving for a deployment that you informed them of 4 months ago when you tried to break the lease initially. It's 2024 why not keep the portal open at least a day to pay the final fees electronically. This is the only apartment I've ever had this happen with. This place is gross , the front desk pretends to care , and just not worth it. Take your money and run.

ROACH INFESTATION NOTICE sent to the leasing office April 4, 2023: "Prior contact has been made at least twice about roaches, but I believe no more than 3 times since August 2021. After seeing roaches here and there (maybe 3 per month if I hadn't sprayed the insect killer that I bought), I felt like I was beginning to see them way too frequently so I started documenting when I saw them by taking pictures or videos starting on March 10, 2023. At that point, I had killed AT LEAST one every single day for about a week. Some of them got documented and others just got killed and flushed down the toilet immediately out of frustration. In response to this went to the leasing office on Monday March 20, 2023 as soon as I could on the same day notified the property management group of this infestation speaking to Mr. Lavoe and I was placed on a list of apartments to be sprayed by a pest control technician contracted BY BONAVENTURE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT the following day On March 21 1:39 a.m. I walked in my apartment and go in my bedroom and I felt something crawl across my foot....you guessed it, a roach....obviously I kicked it off, but before I could kill it, I looked up and saw ANOTHER ONE crawling ON MY BED. The second one got killed and documented at 1:57 a.m. after I finally found it. 2:15 a.m. I go into the kitchen and there's another crawling on the ceiling that I chased and killed. 2:27 a.m. there's another crawling on the wall in the kitchen that I had to chase and kill. 8:54 p.m. I walked in my apartment and there's on crawling on the frame of my bedroom door. I turn to go grab a shoe and there's another crawling in the cutout space over the dryer that I wasn't able to kill. March 22 9:32 a.m. AS SOON AS I WAKE UP.....before I can even open my bedroom door to use the bathroom, I almost stepped on one and to kill that one. 10:22 a.m. I go in the living room and find two more dead and pick those up. 10:24 a.m. I looked behind the blinds on the sliding glass door and counted NINE MORE. Now incase you weren't keeping count, thats 18 in less than 48 hours....EIGHTEEN...9+9...6x3 in LESS THAN FORTY EIGHT HOURS I placed every single one (THAT I COULD FIND and hadn't flushed already) in a jar and went to leasing office. Later I had my meeting in which I brought the jar filled with roaches back in and sat it on the desk so the property manager could see for herself exactly how serious the circumstances were and proceeded with my formal in-person complaint. They asked me for a 14 day grace period seeing how I had just brought this to their attention which I assume would have been requested based on VIRGINIA CODE SECTION 55.1-1244.1 as referenced in my lease and was told the same company would be scheduled to spray around my apartment for the following two weeks. Everything I've stated here was said directly to the face of management in our face-to-face and since this conversation, I have continued to be frustrated and forced to scan my apartment upon entering or waking up for roaches. These ARE NOT the living conditions that I agreed to in my lease while being asked to pay $1700+ per month and no employee under Bonaventure Property Management would find them to be suitable for themselves and if I'm wrong about that, send me the address so we can switch places. Since the start of me documenting these issues, I have compiled an entire photo album of photos as evidence (again, not including the ones that got flushed immediately). Nothing about this is acceptable and I will not stand for it. With all of this being said the city of Chesapeake will be notified of my living conditions at my earliest convenience today, April 4, 2023. Also the common public will be notified how I see fit and any other parties that can fix the problem Bonaventure has refused to will be contacted." Currently April 10, 2023 and since this email literally nothing has changed. I literally just killed two more before I could even press send on this review. You've been warned...

Probably the worst Experience I have had with an apartment complex. The only saving grace has been their maintenance department who has always been super friendly, helpful and professional & the new hire Jasmine who helped us with our move out process instead of giving us the run around. 1.It took them an extra 2 weeks for them to process our application. We were proactive in contacting them about what was needed. Gave them all the information we had. On the offices side they kept inputting the wrong email even though we gave them the correct one. This lead to the stall in work and income verification. Then unprofessionally tried to blame us for their mistakes. This lead us to having to stay in hotel rooms for far longer than expected and spending all the extra money we did have for deposit and being able to comfortably live our lives on top of having to pay 200 just to go through the hassle we needed a place fast so we just dealt with it. 2. The whole application process was the most complicated and convoluted I have ever done. I've never had to jump through so many hoops to get it done. First 200 dollars is insane just to try and be approved. Then not only do they require check stubs but also the email to you HR/Payroll department which, read above didn't go so well. Would have been easier for them to take the extra step and just call if they couldn't get an email. I get there is typical procedure. As many places I've lived I've never had so much trouble getting approved. Typically in one day and within the next day or two signing the lease and moving in. This ended up being a two almost three week process. 3. The apartments are decent but expensive. It's clear why all their leases are for such long periods of time. No one wants to stay and it's overly expensive to do so. Especially after all the fee's are added up. Me and my SO travel so much for our work we basically pay extra for water we don't use and a trash valet fee's that we don't even get to benefit from. 4. The first apartment they tried to put us in was absolutely disgusting and trashed. Roaches everywhere. Fridge, cabinets, out in the open. The fridge itself was nasty like it had never been cleaned out from the previous tenants. The bath tub caulking had not been replaced with open spaces for water to get in behind the wall and hardware, What had still in needed to be replaced. The washer and drier was just as nasty but videos can't be posted. They barely worked anyways. So our first move in after all the complications and frustration was one they didn't even bother to check and make sure was suitable for the premium rent prices being charged. We ended up just deciding to upgrade to the two bedroom because it was what was available and livable. 5. They basically wouldn't make any budge or work with us on moving out because we ended up getting another transfer for work. Basically wanted 6 months worth of rent to move out. Yea I get it is typical but, it just shows that the strategy is create a situation where they won't work with you and we will try and make it a hell to just move on with life. If it were possible to give negative star reviews I would this was not a good experience for living in Virginia. For a premium apartment complex the whole process was a mess and not worth the almost mortgage level rent you have to pay to just live there. No apology or offer of compensation for not only wasting our time & money, but for also trying to rush us into an unsanitary unfinished apartment. Their only response being well we did you a favor by pro-rating the rent. I wish there was a way to post videos as well.

Paintball that has been on the building for over a month, as well as unraked leaves.

Forget about getting things fixed, getting your deposit back, or getting a parking spot. My opinion...do not rent here.

Horrible staff. They make you pay extremely high prices to move out even though you are not actually living there. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Warning...This review is lengthy. Read at your own risk!!!…read more Lakeville Townhomes is a clean, quiet community. Ideal for single living or families. It's also conveniently located near shopping, entertainment, and grocery stores. I'm impressed at the square footage to price comps and hope rates remain reasonable and affordable! I can also appreciate the lawn care team and individual water meter readings. Ms. Pat & Parish make a great team! Always kind and just friendly people. Most units are updated with material comparable to the design era and area. Overall low maintenance which works for me. Lakeville is nice but it can be better. You can stop here or read on for some of my thoughts about the community over a 8+ year residency. Lakeville, let's step out of our comfort zone and show our residents we appreciate their residency outside of sending yearly contract renewals with the occasional rent increase to include the introductions of the next fad amenity that's nice to have but not a got to have. While I adore my community, I do have some dislikes hence the 4 star rating. For instance, can we have some adult, kid, and furry baby friendly amenities (i.e. dog park, grilling station, swings to accompany the playground). A stop sign at the inner neighborhood intersection would be great seeing how the speed bumps are not a deterrent enough for folks not to mindlessly speed. A kids playing sign at the points of entry in the neighborhood would be wonderful also. I'm not sure about most but it would be nice if the laundry facility could be converted to a fitness center. Let's think of creative way to reuse the sq. footage available!!! Valet trash is nice but it's not worth the monthly fee when you have no use for it. Why do I have to pay an admin fee for a service the company decided to use to making billing easier administratively for the front office??? Long story short, I can do without all the extra fees. Community appreciation events would be nice especially seeing how the mature trees in the courtyard were removed 2 year+ ago for the worlds smallest playground and nothing more. We had to increase our renters insurance from $100k to $300k for what??? We're still waiting on the plans to come to fruition but I digress. Let's also consider back to school events, school supply drive, block party, neighbor meet and mingle, holiday events like costume competitions, pumpkin carving contest, card decorating, kid crafts, egg hunt, cookies and cocoa morning rush, pizza party, Sunday sundae event, breakfast on the go...the list goes on.

We've only lived here for 6 weeks but so far we're very satisfied. Kim Edwards in the leasing…read moreoffice, with whom we met via FaceTime and via voice and email, was personable, professional, and expedient in processing our paperwork etc. We actually rented sight unseen but were happy with our building upon arrival. It was clean, odor free, and well appointed. The seating area on the ground floor is currently closed due to COVID. We are hoping that within the near future it will be re-opened. Unfortunately, the roof top deck access available for all the residents is also closed. This is disappointing but I'm sure that they're complying with the governors directives and it will be made available again soon. Our 8th floor flat in this circa 1904 building was as expected. Nicely laid out and spic and span. Dimensions not exactly what we had calculated but we were able to move our furniture around a bit and made it work. Since we've been here we've a couple of minor issues. We were extremely impressed by the way they were dealt with. Literally, within hours which was greatly appreciated. The system that the leasing company use has a multitude of capabilities from submitting work orders, to paying for rent and utilities. Since COVID-19, and until recently, the gym was shut due comply with the governors recommendations. The gym is now open, albeit at a smaller capacity, the leasing company is making a concerted effort to re-open it. It's necessary to book a gym session for the moment and that can be accomplished via the app. So, thanks to KimEdwards and her colleagues, so far, we're happy with our little flat. We hope that the roof top desk on the Virginia Building will be open soon so we can see the sites offered by this lovely city. The location of this building is incredible. Surrounded by water, parks, shops, restaurants....Who could ask for anything more. As I said above, we've only been here 6 weeks and hope that things continue to be very satisfactory.
