Once they opened the concert space, they let the rest of the people who were outside waiting, in the venue. We immediately went to the bar and ordered some wine. We hung out there a while while we waited for the show to start. It was comfortable and a nice place to wait. The show space is very unique and had amazing sound. Even though we went in to the show space later, we could still see the stage really well. The Amazons were awesome and I'd definitely return to this venue.

And by food I don't mean dirty water hot dogs but rather, nachos, burgers, peri peri chicken sandwiches and even a portobello and goat cheese sandwich (all of which were grilled to order on a BBQ.) OUTDOOR TERRACE Better still, we were able to consume said food outside, with beer. A concert venue with a terrace? Two words: hell yes! SCREENS The camera work during the concert was excellent and beamed up on two large screens which helped me to feel almost as if I were on the stage. ACOUSTICS You'll definitely get awesome aural at Roundhouse! SEATING I know, I know, all the kids are on the floor spilling drinks all over one another, jumping up and down, swapping spit and whatnot, but at this point in my life it is terrific to be able to take in a show from a seat with an incredible view! Now, if only I knew someone with an extra VIP pass to: The xx on 12 July and Florence + The Machine on 13 July Le sigh, a girl can dream...

However, there is a shining beacon of light in this grubby little place - the Hackney Empire. This place features a variety of music and comedy performances. The venue itself is really beautiful. Hosting a variety of events from such fields as music, dance, comedy and family entertainment, it is sure to have something for everyone. I went to see a band there a while ago, and the interior of the theatre blew me away. I always thought it would be nice to go, and it is great to know such a culturally rich theatre exists in Hackney. I obtained 'Orthello' tickets for a young persons rate of 5 pounds. I suggest trying to get your hands on some, as seeing the Royal Shakespeare Company perform at Hackney Empire will be magical.

Didn't think so. Retro environment.. Reminds you of school, yep, the Grange Hill version not the Breakfast Club. On the plus side, the lighting & sound system is great. Awesome venue! I…read moresaw Joey McIntyre of the New Kids on the Block perform both nights of his Solo Joe Summer Tour. Great floor seats the first night but the view was even better from the balcony the second night. No A/C (which I don't think very many UK buildings have) so the 75-degree evening translated into a hot & sweaty show for both attendees & Joey on stage. Especially uncomfortable on the balcony as heat rises; a small price to pay to see one of my favorite performers in one of my favorite cities. Good times!!

Then I realised…read moreit's attached to Islington Town Hall, and (I think) used to be the borough musuem, before it moved to St John St. We went to see a jazzy electronic act, and the sound crew recommended the balcony for the best sound. Seats were reasonably comfortable, staff was friendly, there were clean toilets with loo roll (and no queue for the women's, although that might have been the demographic of the gig I was at, more than the venue). Bar is indeed pretty basic, a 250ml red wine was £6 in a plastic cup, and they have a carafe of water on the side at the upstairs bar if you just want tap water. Overall, it was a civilised evening with great music, so I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

It is free of charge, you will find objects there that you can't find anyplace else. And it won't take up more than an hour of your "London time". The closest Underground station is Baker Street. When you're at street level, turn left from the corny Sherlock Holmes statue in front of the station - just as you would if you visit Madame Toussaud's. Pass by all the stupid tourists in the queue and head straight on a little further, then on the next corner you will see the Royal Academy of Music to your left. On the ground floor you will find a temporary exhibit (Last time I visited it was about classical music and WWI) - and some historic documents, photos and scores from the RAM library. Go up to the first floor for a selection of magnificent string instruments (violins by Stradivari, Amati, Guarneri etc) - though some of them may be on loan for a concert). Just terrific - there's even a luthier on the same floor. On the top floor you'll find a delicious selection of keyboard instruments, from harpsichords to modern grand pianos. Usually, there's a RAM student nearby to guide you through the exhibit at no extra charge. If you're interested in classical music AT ALL, go and visit the RAM Museum.

Firstly, it's very cool to wonder past real-live music students (actually maybe this is only the case if you not-so-secretly desperately wish you'd been one). Secondly, it's incredibly cool to be able to wander into a free concert of some of the top up-and-coming musicians playing Beethoven (the focus of this year's Chamber Music Festival). I really want to come back to more concerts, the museum and also they allow the public into masterclasses! Thirdly, their cafeteria has ridiculously cheap food e.g. roast beef & yorkshire pud for £3 (didn't have time to try it which was mega disappointing). Conclusion: rockin.

Last night's was a Joaquin Phoenix double bill, showing Walk The Line followed by Two Lovers. While we ended up skipping the first film and just having dinner, the price is still very reasonable. We shared a lovely bottle of wine outside on the terrace (had to sit on the wall though as all the tables were full) with amazing views of the river and Hammersmith Bridge. Back inside for dinner, which we shared: a large mezze platter and some mushroom bruschetta, both of which were delicious and just enough. The cinema itself is what every cinema should be: small and dark, with the seats on an incline so everyone can see. They showed the previews and ads WAY before the start time (PERFECT!!), even drew the curtains in between the previews and the film itself (DRAMATIC!!). Riverside has much more to offer than just a restaurant and a cinema... it also shows stand-up comedy, has a fully functioning tv studio where they film live shows, a theatre for live music, and art exhibitions. A wonderful space with quality at every turn.
