From…read morethe moment we pulled up the staff and owner were outside helping us bring in food and get kids in the video game room. The setup is a gamers dream. From high end gaming chairs, a selection of Xbox, PlayStation and PC gaming devices to individual monitors, headsets and games projected on the walls, my kids and their friend had an amazing 2 1/2 hours of gaming fun. Our host (Mr. Reilly) was so knowledgeable and so patient. He stayed in the room helping get everyone setup accordingly and even shared some tips and tricks. The cherry on top of the day was the owner and his hospitable spirit that started from the time we arrived. He even put the NCAA tournament on the big screen so we parents could relax and check our brackets :). If you have a gamer in the family and want to do something fun, we highly recommend getting a dozen or so of their friends together for a battle royale at Escape Kings!!!

We booked the only room that was available and just our luck, it was the most difficult room (besides Aztec Ruins, which is difficult because you have the chance to win an Xbox). We did the Ghost Hunters room where you are set in a scene where you are trying to set a ghost's spirit free. Definitely spooky! You are allowed three clues, so use them wisely! This experience was different for us because there were a lot of locks but not all had to be opened, so pay attention to the story line. The location is conveniently located near Carowinds so if you are out of town and need some other activities to do besides the amusement park, this is a great option! The staff here is SO friendly. You can tell that they are all so smart and love what they do. The game maker even added personal touches to really make the birthday boy special.

They seem to be open only two days a week and for a while I think it was just simply closed. But it was open this past weekend so my family and I went. We got to see the museum plus weapons demonstrations, cooking demonstrations in an historic cabin and more. It was a lot of fun. Plus there was the chance to learn a bit about the history of the region. From pre-colonial native history to revolutionary war era and beyond. It was fascinating.

The 2017 Charlotte Food Fight did not disappoint. Another great event at Stumptown Park…read more I arrived right at 3:00 when the event kicked off and the crowds were already lined up in front of food trucks, which was great to see. This year there was a larger group of trucks, which I was happy to see. The secret ingredient this year was coffee! So each truck had to have one item featuring coffee, which made it very interesting. Fresh Med by far highlighted the coffee within their lamb and cous cous dish, amazing! I had the ability to taste several other trucks options and will say King of Pops had a great coffee popsicle! Overall, love the food, entertainment and beer selections from D9 Brewing. Definitely looking forward to 2018..what will the secret ingredient be???

All sorts of foods, from sandwiches to hot dogs to fried potatoes. Each of the food trucks had a Food Fight special and you were expected to try the special and then vote. Sadly, I only managed to eat six different specials (hey, I tried!) including Wings and Chips from Wingz on Wheelz, a Dirty South Bowl from New Wrap Order, a dog from JJ's Hot Dogs, a Half Italian from What Goes Round and then some tasty Chicken Thighs from Tiger Yakitori. Oh, and three beers from D9. Music was quite good. The first gal I heard was okay, but the Charlotte School of Rock kids were awesome. That dark haired girl rocked it with Helter Skelter, but it just seems like an odd choice from a teenager. Bassist was spot on. Maybe some more seating would have helped, but it is a park. I just forgot to bring my lawn chair. So I "accidentally" ran into the Yelp table and borrowed a corner, socializing with our lovely CM Nikki and Kate T. and Christi K.

This was my first official Beerfest and I cannot tell you how excited I was to attend. We even purchased our tickets in January to ensure we were not sidelined. We got to Baxter Village early and got pretty good parking. Our first stop was Six Pence where we headed for a bite to eat. After filling our tummies with some Irish fare we strolled over to Grapevine around 1pm. There was a line already snaking the building but after the VIPs entered, we were among the first dozen in line. Two o'clock came. Armed with my husband as the photo/camera man and my red notebook, we eagerly entered. I was like a kid in a candy shop. It was pleasantly overwhelming. We hit the rear of the event first thinking most partakers would try brew vendors at the front first. Considering that 1,300 tickets were sold, it didnt seem all that crowded. In fact, the long lines that some spoke of from previous years were really maybe five deep: MAX. I hit over two dozen breweries, talked beer and even took a slight break in just under 2 hours. People are friendly to the extent of wanting to be in our pics and those manning the taps were knowledgeable and willing to engage in beer convo! With my redbook, pencil, and eagerness to know MORE.... there was a moment at Bell's Brewery while I was asking pertinent questions that my husband backed up to take a pic. It must have looked important because some of their employees pushed the crowd just a little farther to allow him to take the perfect shot. Maybe, they thought I was a reporter; I'm not, but I do review beers with a passion. Overall, great time. Definitely a must if one is a lover of quality beer. No bud light, heineken, or Corona fans please. Next beerfest: Wear a necklace of pretzels, recon the event, and select a dozen brews to try and rate. Otherwise, one will go crazy. Craft beer should be enjoyed not chugged.
