I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover. I come here pretty often for Yum Cha and I usually enjoy my time here. They offer majority of your traditional dim sums and carts frequently pass by (this can depend on where you're sitting though). This place offers relatively good food, it's nothing extraordinary that you would remember- but its definitely enjoyable and satisfactory. I've been here for dinner too, but I find their Yum Cha to be better. It's not that their dinner is bad, it's just that it quite standard and average. In a suburb where one can find ample Chinese restaurants, average sometimes just isn't good enough. That said, if you have a large group- then this place could easily accommodate you. It has a large dining area with big round dining tables at the back. Overall I would suggest Imperial Kingdom only if it is local to you, I wouldn't go out of way to eat here- but if I'm in the area, I'm more than happy to.

I don't see how anyone could eat here just by 'passing by'. It's located near Springvale station in a little parking area. You enter a door and go up the stairs to find yourself in an out of fashion restaurant that has a 'dance floor' clearing in the middle with a small stage for wedding receptions (I assume). The food here is large and in your face. Most dishes are spicy and packed full of tangy flavor. Make sure you order the 'Da Pan Ji (big plate chicken)' this is a traditional Xingjiang dish of chicken, potatoes and noodles in a curry-like sauce. My favorite thing about Xiangjiang food is their noodles, handmade, thick, uneven an unlike any other noodle. If you've never experienced the food before, make sure you order something with their noodles. Another infamous dish here (and at all other Xingjiang restaurants), is their lamb skewers. They use a special spice (chose either spicy or not), and serve chunks of tender lamb on metal skewers. This is as famous as dumplings are to Chinese and pasta is to Italian. You MUST order the lamb skewers. Overall I find this place can be a hit and miss with certain menu items. Best to ask the waiter which ones are the most popular/common.

Always hits the spot. The rice is very plain and simple the only ingredients i see and taste in the fried rice are carrots, sultanas, spices and oil. Yummmm! I also love the lamb skewers from here also as you can get them super spicy to your liking. The owners are always at the restaurant and are really friendly. If you're a regular they just know what you want to order. Super helpful and will always have a chat. Prompt staff. Highly recommeded place if you've never tried mongolian food

Newish springvale eatery that specialises in local dishes from Hue Vietnam. I've had a lot of viet…read morefood and thought I knew it all. I guess not!!! It took me time to go over the menu as I had never heard of some of the things / variations offered. I guess it is the regions take on some of the popular Viet dishes... There is a section on the menu for Kitchen's Specialisation... As I was going through this, the owner who looked like a reformed viet gangster came across and started talking to us. Nice guy.. :) Went for #137 (Bánh t), #5 (Banh Loc) .. and the broken rice on a hot plate. cus the dude suggested it. I told him that there is no where in Springvale that serves good Com Tam anymore.. and asked whats so special about his broken rice... he said try it... you wont regret. serving it on a sizzling plate tastes better he says... I couldnt agree more. The sizzling plate also makes the broken rice a bit harder at the bottom, almost like a claypot. Which was an interesting twist. The Pork.. I haven't had this good in a while. Not the best I have had as it still lacked the flame grilled flavour. But great all the same. Banh Loc - I've not tried this before... very similar to most of the "banh" style dishes but wrapped in banana leaf and not heavy. Banh Uot - is very similar to the normal banh cuon (translucent rice noodle rolls) that I am used to however this variety... the "uot" (opaque rice noodle rolls) which means wet banh uses a thicker noodle sheet as wrapper and the filler used was small amounts of pork. I think marinated grilled pork.. the 'cuon' uses those ear mushroom / fungus thingies. and the pork is finer. Arrrggg .. Anyway... bottom line... its frekn YUM! just go try it! :) and no I dont have shares there and the reformed gangster owner has not threatened my family or anything!! PS: the observation of the dude is in jest only! please dont track me down. :)
