It came in under time and under budget. My son attended three years under ODS middle. The school, staff and students are like no other at the beach. Rigorous testing is required for admittance and they take only 200 per grade level which is a recent increase. The school houses gifted elementary and middle 2nd grade to 8th grade. The building is spectacular in every way and specifically devoted to gifted learning. Every educator has an endorsement in gifted teaching. The administration led by Kelly Hedrick principal is one of VBS finest leaders. The building offers a big feature that no other elementary, or middle school does. The auditorium seats hundreds and is state of the art in every way. It is is true gem and the VBS system can thank Kelly Hedrick for fighting to have it in the budget. The auditorium is used throughout the district. Virginia Beach is lucky to have a strong gifted program. Many of the students graduate from 8th and move onto the academy system at the beach and are prepared for success in high school.

this school makes me genuinely upset so many kids are disrespectful to classmates and teachers and…read morethen get no repercussions. kids are threatening to do stuff every day like shoot up the school like.. what? and even if they get reported nothing happens. the teachers also VERY CLEARLY care about some students more than others and treat them VERY differently. the food is actually disgusting sometimes and just looking at it makes me want to throw up sometimes. the principals are usually around young girls and it doesnt seem right to me, more just creepy because its ALWAYS the girls. and that one sub/past stingray teacher is really weird. i had to tell him to stop touching my head (repeatedly) and had to hit his hand away to get him to stop. he also used to let kids look at scabs under a microscope, which, ew. but he had to keep the scab after (also gross). this kid tried to stab me and my friends with pencils, no repercussion. people told me to kms, and guess what? no repercussion. the teachers are usually hard on kids for no reason too. the amount of kids with a morale this school are probably very small. i know a whole bunch of kids who have been so stressed out to the point theyre sobbing or physically ill. please focus more on these kids mental health and how people are treating each other. its actually angering how much the staff/the students dont care about each other.

I was going to lie and pretend to be my mother but after the owner responded to what I said and blatantly lied I wish just speak my full truth. parents please do not send your children here just because it may seem nice remember you are not there tou children are! edit: this review is not false if anything its a better review for parents to understand what going on in there childrens heads, also I am one of the children in the photos ive left.

The owner, Kyrah, was so welcoming and very communicative. You can tell she takes much pride and care into the consistency and opportunities her families experience. She also provides very detailed and well laid out expectations for any enrolling students. This facility felt like a family run daycare in a larger and much more exciting and capable facility. The staff has been there for a long time, have emotional and physical investment in the facility and you can feel it. We ended up going with a care facility that was more convenient for us, but I know that should anything change in our future, we would reach out to Kyrah and Honeygrove Learning Academy with joy.

She is thriving. They are teaching her so much! She is loving playing, singing, reading, and running around. She has learned to sit at a table, clean up after herself, say words and sign "more" and "eat". I'm so impressed. They send us weekly newsletters with tons and tons of photos and there is an app for parent updates and so we can interact with teachers throughout the day. They are very responsive. There is also a nurse on staff at all times and the administration (Elyssa and Natalie) are also very responsive and attentive, knowing every single child's name in the halls (I am impressed). The staff for the babies and toddlers are wonderful, loving and caring people. Bianca, Janae, Raven and Marisol as well as now Jaime and Sydnee are all stellar and I am happy to have my baby girl in a location with such attentive and caring people. They are always coming up with creative crafts and fun, letting the children explore with their senses, and teaching them to be kind and caring individuals. My daughter is happy about coming here every day and that is all I need to know. My parents and her other grandparent attended their grandparents day together around the Thanksgiving holiday and were super impressed with the school as well as the teachers. There was a welcome reception and then activity in the rooms where the grandparents got to see their spaces and do crafts with them. They had made each grandparent a thoughtful, personalize gift with photos to keep and my daughter's grandparents are obsessed. The facility, as mentioned before, is wonderful. It's a large building with secured entry and security who take their jobs very seriously - they have everyone scan in (and a photo shows up) and if you don't have your fob you must show ID and be on a list. I know this bc once my husband used my fob and they hunted him down bc his picture wasn't mine. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. The school is K-5th grade and they take babies as old as weeks to care for. A wonderful, wonderful establishment. Well-run and the best I've seen throughout the area. I could not be happier that my baby girl is here.

They learn Hebrew at an early age which will help with language skills when they're older. Violin is taught starting at kinder. Kids of all faiths and backgrounds go to school here. Small class size. Very caring teachers and councilors that care about the kids. Playground, pool, fun gym time and after school activities. I could go on and on but... All I'm going to say is I'm zoned for one of the best public elementary schools in the area and continue to keep my kid in this school. They actually TEACH my kid. Not just plop them in front of a computer. Worth every cent!
