Anyway we walked in, it was a bit weird because everyone and their mom greeted us, asked us if we had a reservation, then looked around awkwardly because we said we didn't, one staff member went to get menus while we stood their awkwardly in the doorway with every new staff member appearing bowing to us, then another staff member asking us to have a seat in their waiting area, and a minute after sitting the guy standing with the menus said, "Please follow me." Remember that scene in "Wedding Crashers" where Vince Vaughn's character goes into a rant about blind dates and he talks so fast and keeps going, until he takes a breather at the end... that my account of what happened upon arrival was just that... in my head that is. Moving on, at an ever increasing rate... (probably shouldn't do this after having half a bottle of red wine) we decided to share some of the veggie eggrolls and I decided to try the dish that I have been wanting to for some time... the battered duck with tamarind sauce and crispy noodles. Work BFF had the chicken pad thai. The duck was wonderful! It was crispy, juicy and the tamarind sauce was beautiful. Forget sweet and sour sauce, this is much better. And the crispy noodles were interesting, but really good with the whole dish. We decided to move onto dessert, despite having parts of our dishes put into takeaway boxes. Work BFF had the fried bananas with coconut and maple syrup. I had the Swirl Toffee Bake. No where in the description did it say that it was just a cheesecake with toffee swirl on top. The fried bananas were delicious, the coconut didn't really come through, but made for a nice crispy topping on the bananas, but because of the maple syrup, it almost tasted like banana pancakes =). Mine on the other hand... it was ok, but as far as cheesecake goes, I make a better cheesecake and so does Morrisons. Service as far as getting more water and the check were really slow tonight. Then after we sat at the table for awhile with the check, we were finally told we had to pay at the desk... hence Siam Garden will stay at the 4 stars for now.

It wasn't long before we were shown to where we were sitting by one of the friendly members of staff. My mum isn't one for eating much so she just had a starter and a sweet. The rest of us had the carvery, you could have as much as you wanted of a good selection of veg and three meats. It's easy for places like this to over cook the veg but everything I had still had a little bit of crunch to it. The pudding we had was amazing! I can't tell you how much self control it took to not order another one! In case you were wondering... It was the Belgium chocolate truffle! It's worth mentioning that they also serve Thai food which I hear is very good although I haven't tried it myself yet. The food and service are more than worth the money, the carvery was around £9 and sweets between £3 and £4. It's a great place for Sunday dinner, who wants to cook anyway?

I'm from The States; so, perhaps I find British food a little bland and repetitive after a few months but their food had great flavor and was decently priced for the quality. After stumbling through the menu after a night of drinking, she kindly joked that I needed some sugar to clear my fuzzy head and recommended that I have a large Thai tea as we waited for our food. I agreed and Boy! Am I grateful I did. You won't find any of that orange, powdered pre-made stuff like you do in the states at this spot. It was so refreshing and definitely the pick-me-up that I needed. The Bangkok Pad Thai with prawns was also delicious. She let me spice it up and cautioned me against ordering the Thai Spicy until I came back haha. I stuck with a level three and it had some good heat to it. I also got eight giant prawns in a medium sized amount of Pad Thai. For me, that's pretty amazing considering that it was only 10 pounds and typically places either give you those tiny prawns or only one or two of them. So, I'll definitely be getting it again. My friends ordered the Drunken Noodles (with rice noodles) and the Panang Chicken Curry. They both let me try a bite of both and they were also amazing. The coconut milk in the curry is phenomenal and the drunken noddles had a nice savory taste. I would also order their meals another time. Other than the food being well worth it, the woman who took care of us and took our take out order was hilarious and I can't wait to go back and get to actually dine in. The restaurant is located on Henley high street and is close by to pubs which is ideal for a pre dinner drink. The restaurant is small and cosy with several rooms and is authentically decorated. The menu is mouth watering and after deliberating for a while I opted for the duck spring rolls and soy sauce. A great start to the evening meal. Next up was Thai Prawn curry with Jasmine rice and I hardly muttered a word to my partner other than mouthing ummmm's and 'tasty'! All of the dishes were presented beautifully with flowers carved out of vegetables. The service was top notch, with the waiters and waitresses being attentive and friendly.
