Then again, a pub where the regulars are more than willing to include you in their conversations is one of those pubs that I do tend to like, not that there are all that many of them around. Sure, this is a country pub, which means that their beer selection really isn't all that great, however they do have a pretty awesome games room, and the beer garden out the bar, while particularly spectacular, was quite large, which I also really liked.

At the time of this writing, it was $18 for adults, and kids under a certain age were free. It was basically the stuff you'd find at a good hotel breakfast bar, but it was all really fresh. They also pride themselves on using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. We have also had lunch there, and I can vouch for some seriously delicious onion rings. And their ham is out of this world. At the risk of sounding a bit older than my years, I also appreciate the comfortable chairs with nice lumbar support which make it more enjoyable to sit back and finish your coffee while overlooking the birds at the sanctuary of Lake Apex right outside the windows. There's also a walking path around the lake which is a leisurely 15 minute walk. It's a nice stroll if you're not in a hurry. (Though depending on the time of the year, it can be a bit odourous as a result of all the birds that congregate there.) For my money, it's worth the drive every now and then to get a hearty meal at a reasonable price. *Edited to add that it is located inside the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre building.

In same building is the library, the info centre and a transport museum (fee to enter but you can look thru glass walls while dining!
