First off, I used to be a regular at their location on Vermont in Los Angeles... I'd say I was there at least once a month if not more and started going there when I was in High School about 20+ years ago... So, take my word for it when I tell you the food here at the BGC location is pretty damn close to home. I certainly understand ingredients are going to be substituted simply because of logistics, but from my experience here over the weekend, I have found my comfort food in Manila! I was very happily surprised the food turned out so well compared to their overseas counterpart.
I've tried pretty much everything on the menu at this restaurant over the years and have for the most part stuck to their S1, Thai BBQ chicken. There's just simply nothing like it, together with the rice and the 'orange' dipping sauce, I'm already drooling typing this review! The menu here is the same as in California (Cerritos), from what I gather, the owners of the Cerritos location are the same owners of the location here in BGC. The spring rolls are not exactly as I remember, yet they we're quite good, and I do love their Thai tea. Kudos to the owners for nailing this one!
The prices are quite reasonable, I would say about the same as in Cali, around 500 for the S1 which is a half chicken with rice. Their description says it's good for 2, which it is, yet I'm used to eating one myself, so whatever you fancy, just know it's a big dish.
So happy Thai BBQ has landed in Manila!! What a wonderful unexpected Christmas treat! read more
