Bergen Storsenter - So quiet... most people already went to the countryside for the summer.

Bergen Storsenter is a good shopping center in Bergen, Norway. Not a large mega mall, but it is…read morenot tiny either. Fine mix of retail shops ranging from grocery stores to snack kiosks to clothing shops to pharmacies, and everything in between. Get ready to pay more than in the United States. Norway is an expensive country to live in. Clas Ohlson and Meny were my two favorite stores here. My only complaint would be the tight parking spaces. Be very careful when opening your vehicle's doors. Overall, though, Bergen Storsenter is a nice place to browse and pick up a few items.

Esthetically speaking, Bergen Storsenter is not beautiful, but this multilevel mall area is a nice…read moreplace to escape any potential bad weather you may find in Bergen (since it rains a lot here) and maybe grab a quick lunch or buy something you didn't know you needed. The stores here are the same as you'd find in any mall I've been to in Norway so nothing really impressed me or wow'd me in terms of variety, but it was easy to navigate around and was overall pretty clean. In keeping with Norway traditions, keep your 10 Kroner on you so you have it ready in the event you need to use the restroom. It's connected to a Ton hotel which is convenient if you're a guest there. Honestly, nothing really blew my mind here. I stopped in because I had an entire day in Bergen and the city is pretty small so eventually you just find yourself at places. Okay overall, but there are so many beautiful sights to see here in Bergen that if you're a tourist you don't need to rush here.

I've been wanting to go to an ice bar and I can't think of a better place than in Norway! We had so…read moremuch fun! The bar is really quite amazing. The ice sculptures and creativity is just stunning. Everything's made of ice and is a work of art. I definitely recommend dressing warmly because the coat and gloves just aren't enough. It's freezing! Your body does adapt after some time but it's a lot more comfortable if you come prepared. The seats are also made of ice but are covered in furs to make you a little more comfortable. There are little seating sections, separated by walls, giving you a bit of privacy with your party. The lights are dimmed and the ice is lit up in beautiful colors. It's truly an experience. The bartender pops in and out, so that he doesn't freeze to death, so be patient. This was definitely a one of a kind experience. There are a few packages to choose from so you can tailor the experience to you and your desires.

So cool!!! My local friend had never even heard of this place! I happened to see a flyer for it…read morewhile in the visitor's center and mentioned it to all of my friends. We went late one evening to try it out, as none of us had been to a place like this before. Since they were in the process of carving new ice sculptors, admission was half price. For 100kr, we got a huge warm coat, gloves, and 1 drink. We had a blast inside. It was SUPER cold, but the attire kept us warm. We just couldn't take the gloves off for long. The bartender was really cool and hung out with us for a bit as it was really slow. There was a party of 3 when we first entered, but ended up being the only ones in there by the end. They had a pretty good drink menu, however the drinks were EXTREMELY weak. To the point where I didn't taste any alcohol and didn't receive any buzz. It was like drinking kool-aid. Other than that, it was a lot of fun, and we got some great pictures. They have music playing, so you can dance too.
