Soooo the thrift store has had a few upgrades. Everything has been rearranged so it's harder to find things. There are self check outs now which makes no sense if the workers still ring everything up. The rest of the workers are just walking back and forth throughout the store leaving no room for the customers. I'm used to just going to the sizes that I need and leaving but now everything is out of place. There is still a huge selection of items but it seems like the prices have went up as well. New management, new registers, and still no dressing room. With the new No refund or exchange policy, you would think that they would at least get two dressing rooms. Me and my young daughter woke up very early this morning for the sale. Please do not come here if you have young children. Because Texas thrift Killeen does not accommodate individuals with children. At Texas Thrift Killeen customers with young children WILL NOT be prioritized when it comes to the larger carts. I brought blankets and everything so my daughter could be comfortable while I shopped for both of us. Not one of the employees were willing to ask that customers who don't have young children, exchange their larger carts for the green carts. I almost gave in and gave this place my money but if an effort won't even be made to accommodate young children then this store is not truly for the community. I won't be back. This used to be a good place for deals...whomever is pricing needs to seriously get mental help because the prices are ridiculously high for resale of donated items. I have been in this store several times in the past 2 years and had good experience until today that definitely made me don't want to come back no more. This morning at the front door a lady that is always there giving you flyers asked me to leave my purse on the floor behind the door because the new policy says that "not big bags at the store " I explained her that was my purse and that my personal stuff was in there (phone, wallet, female stuff, AirPods, etc..) even with the explanation I decided to respect the policy and follow the rules because as a business owner and a store owner I know policies and rules are importan to follow. So I decided to take my purse "bag" to my car and carried my phone and my wallet on my hands. When I came back to the store at the front door was a lady wearing a big backpack and the lady by the front door didn't say anything about it... and I questioned her why she didn't ask her to leave her big bag as she asked me and she said that was because it was her purse... really? . Here the problem... when you have policies and rules, make sure to apply them to everyone, because if you don't do that the only thing that you create is a conflict. I'm sorry but I can't keep quiet when something like this happens, this is discrimination. I asked the lady and mentioned her that this was discrimination because her explanation was just keep saying that my purse was a bad and the backpack was a purse. She threatened me saying that she will tell her supervisor and I encourage her to do that because that could help to explain me why the policy was just applied to me. The supervisor thought that the problem was me complaining about the policy, I had to explain in several times that the problem was discrimination. I had to walk outside with him to show him my purse... he basically said that my purse was considered a grocery shopping bag and the lady big Backpack was considered a purse. I just told him that I won't come back to this store and he agreed. Very bad attitude, not problem solving skills, bad presentation, this is the people that represents this company. STEER CLEAR!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. This place has jacked up all of their prices to retail prices. Some shifts are $150. Normal shirts on the rack are $10-$20 now. Appliances are $8-$20 now. They DO NOT match sets together, they MAKE you purchase them individually at $4 a cup or plate. They have gone down hill and are stingy GREEDY OWNERS FOR DOING THIS. You get all of this stuff donated to you for free. They pull the 50% and 75% items they day the new color comes out so people don't get a chance to get discounted items. They stopped rotating the colors how they used to, it's different now. The new items now WILL NOT be on sale next week it's 2 weeks now, then it goes to 25% off. They will not sell you items without a sticker and will not sell it to you bc "it has to go in the back to be processed again". read more

When I say this was by far the most ignorant and lazy staff I have ever seen that would be a understatement. Everyone aimlessly wanders around looking like they hate their jobs. Furthermore, the prices are not sales and pretty much retail pricled. A beyond pathetic , pitiful attempt at customer service and if you can avoid Texas Thrift SAVE YOUR SELF THE TIME. Not only is it completely dirty and dusty , management definitely needs to be re- considered. If you value good customer service I would not recommend. If I could give a lower rating I would. I'm not sure the company's mission statement or values but if the manger of Texas Thrift is a direct reflection of what the company standards then the entire company values taking advantage of the clientele that creates the stores inventory. I've been wanting to check out this thrift store since moving here (last June), and was finally able to today. Some reasons for the 3 star rating: - the prices aren't terrible, but some of the items are just dirty. Really dirty. Not even, IMO, worth putting on the shelves. - I see some photos, and the place looks organized, but today when I went in everything seemed to be disheveled, out of place, and it was hard to find the sizes because of these reasons. - it wasn't clean. Like, floors; shelves; ect. However, I will say the things I found (which was maybe 8 shirts) were pretty clean, worth it for the blue tags .99 cent Monday sale. I really wanted to stay longer, but because of how disorganized everything was, I didn't. Also, I will say the employees I interacted with were very nice! read more

Good for clothing shopping. Not so good on other things. If you're looking for clothing of all sizes go for it. If you utilize the half off tag color you can get a lot for a little. Bought two big bags for my baby and it was fifteen dollars. The store does need a good cleaning, it's always a mess. The toy aisle is utter chaos but I have a feeling that it's not entirely the staff's fault. I've been in there and have seen kido destruction at its worst. They are much better than Goodwill though. The items besides clothing can be a gamble. They are scratched or in bad condition sometimes. Sometimes the prices on used items are hilarious. Other times you are looking at a great deal. I've never bought anything there but clothing. All the staff that I have dealt with have been all smiles. Although, if you're looking for something in particular you're kind of on your own. They try to help but it's a giant second hand shop you can't expect the staff to remember much when the inventory constantly changes. read more

It's a an okay store but as an ex former employee I was givin the supervisor position but they didn't want to compensate me for the position after asking them over and over about it the manger constantly avoid the question every time. And also even when working there everything comes right out the bags from which it was donated in. And put right on the store floor where's been plenty of times when we had got bags and it was filled of bed bugs after tell the manager she then told us to shhh and just to throw the bag away not knowing bed bugs are small and can hitchhike to anything. The employees are treated as if they are Inmates. There is to be no talking of the sort as the manager says every time when she would here us talk. And I guess it's okay for the manger to talk crap to the workers to stating something that came out her mouth saying she was gonna rip the employees a new a$$ hole if we didn't speed up the process and young black single mothers/workers getting fired just for asking the manager a question that she didn't like and that's not right at all no human should talk or be treated like that from another human that way just because you think your big and bad because your the boss there's something called RESPECT and people wonder why no one stays. Great thrift store. Lots of choices to choose from and everything is organized & color coordinated. Shirts in the front, pants/capris in the middle and other house hold items + handbags at the back. Today's Monday and it's 99 cent for anything white. I got a nice V-neck for 99 cents. And also got a vintage Harker heights tee that I can cut into a crop top. Lastly I scored a bag for 5.89 and it was similar to a MK bag :) I'm very happy with my purchases and I can't wait to come back! The workers are nice as well, but the cashiers need to smile. I buy almost everything I wear at this store. The colored tag sales are awesome and military Wednesdays are a great perk for those serving. The Good: Everything. Seriously. The music doesn't stink, the employees are friendly, the selection is awesome and the prices are unbeatable. The Bad: I never have enough time! It takes a long time to comb through all the stuff to find exactly what I never knew I always wanted. The Skinny: I'm in the middle of massive weight loss and am going down a size every few weeks. I absolutely love this place! I've been here four times and have always left happy; both with what I purchased, and with the experience. The staff members are sometimes a bit curt, and they run around a lot, but the store is fairly big, so I imagine they have their hands full there. It's never been a bother to me, and when I smile, they smile back. I've purchased several dresses, a jacket, and a few old VHS tapes. Each item was in great shape and clean, and I love the diversity among items in-store. The entire middle section is a vast display of clothing, ranging from tops, pants, jackets, and shoes. The left side appears to be baby clothing, and the far back and right side of the room is usually comprised of used household items, antiques, collectables, china, and other such things. A small display in the very front entrance usually houses a nice little arrangement of furniture that they change out quite often. The floor plan is a bit odd, and can get a bit crowded on busy days or weekends, making it awkward to maneuver around others looking to score big. But for the most part, there is plenty to look at, and you can take your time looking while you wait for the sections to clear up. They managed to make a great use of the space they have, and there's just enough room to house everything in its own little part of the store. When I first visited the store, I thought it looked dirty. Upon closer inspection, I realized it's not so much "dirty" as it is simple run down. They run a thorough upkeep, and everything is tidy and manages to stay where it's supposed to (unless you have those special brand of people who like to change their minds and leave stuff everywhere), leaving the store looking decent and easy to navigate. I will continue to come here for the great finds, excellent prices, and wonderful deals! As far as I know, Mondays are Yellow-Tag 99¢ days. Wednesdays are Military Discount Day. I'm not sure if they have any other discounts or deals, but I do know about those two. read more

Dirty, disorganized, and discriminatory. Was in there today with my service animal looking around. Two of their staff were talking loudly about how I shouldn't be allowed to bring her with me and how it didn't look to them like I needed a service animal. When I spoke to the manager her response was "Not everyone likes dogs". Really? That's your response to discrimination by your workers. So I can go in there and do the same thing right? This is the best thrift store I have found anywhere! I live in Austin but my boyfriend lives in the country halfway between Killeen and Austin so we normally go to Killeen for dinner and shopping. We both have a lot of luck finding clothes at Texas Thrift. Their prices are great and their tag sales are amazing. I also end up spending over $50 and leaving with a dozen different things. There's no thrift store in Austin or Killeen with a better selection of clean quality clothes. And certainly no store anywhere with better prices! read more

They missed the 5 stars for me because their bathroom is the worst I've ever seen. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months! I've been shopping here regularly for a year now. It definitely is the best thrift store in the area. It could stand to be a little cleaner + better organized though I've noticed they're trying with more racks recently - sometimes there's so many hangers that there's no room to slide them, items jam packed makes for near impossible browsing. I can only advise to shop Wednesday if you have a military ID to take advantage of 30% off. Any other day, most things are very overpriced. I've noticed that their prices have increased in the past year - today I picked up a pretty used pair of kiddo Crocs at 14.00, a pretty used pair of Old Navy little boy pants for 8.50 + an expired bottle of Dollar Tree lotion for 1.50. I can go into a Ross or Marshall's any day + find a new pair of kid Crocs for 14.00, if not less. And Old Navy has frequent sales + clearance. I don't even have to explain the Dollar Tree item, I mean......even if you are military + got 30% off, that's not a good deal on any of the items mentioned. I understand marking up to account for sale days, but it's a thrift store. The clientele depend on low prices + everything is donated - why are costs so jacked up? If the store was in line with say, the quality of a Saver's then I can understand, but the shopping experience is no where on par. And absolutely under no circumstances would separate the incomplete sets.
