I found this Exchange on Yelp! They are inside the Rivercenter Mall not on Commerce street. They gave me a quote over the phone for Euro's. It was quick and easy (less than 10 minutes). The gal gave me the 50% off transaction fee and then noticed I am military and waived it all together! Just you know know they don't take US DOLLARS in Greece. read more

Was waited on be Marisela at this location. Very positive experience. She was very patient and pleasant. I had currency from multiple countries and she had to go through each denomination. I highly recommend Texas Currency Exchange. read more

This is good for buying foreign currency but the buy back of unused currency is quite unfair.

We are heading across the Pond in two weeks and needed to exchange USD to GBPs. Things couldn't have gone smoother. Lealoa was a pleasure to deal with. She explained the details about exchanging the money back when we return, what denominations we preferred, etc. Also mentioning that coins aren't accepted except by the pound. Whenever we're traveling internationally again, we will be sure to stop at the currency exchange. read more

I need Euros and Swiss Francs for our European trip. I went to the North Star Mall location. The transaction was quick and painless. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. read more

I did a little research before going to see about the rate of exchange but did not do enough research. I changed $100USD for Costa Rica Colon which yielded me 48,000 in Costa Rico Colon. I did further research when I got home because it didn't seem right and after checking multiple exchange rates, including several banks I did not check before, 48,000 in Costa Rican Colon is only $82.00 in USD. They claim to have the best exchange rate, but they clearly rip you off. Just plan ahead and order from a reputable bank. read more

Edit: thank you for the response. It was not explained that these are out of circulation. A list of denominations that can be exchanged on the website would be very helpful. The website does not list the currencies that are accepted or the denominations that are accepted. So after standing in line for 45 minutes, they could not accept the denomination above 50 and the one I had was 100. So I could exchange multiple 50s, but not a single 100. They said the only thing they could do would be to buy it for $.25 for a bill that is worth $250 USD. This is incredibly frustrating after large local banks no longer exchange and the Texas Currency Exchange was not helpful. Please add to your website on denominations and currencies that you will work with. read more

Wish I'd known they moved to North Star before heading to river center mall. Once I found it, getting some yen as a creative birthday gift for my anime obsessed niece headed to Japan for graduation was quick and easy. I paid a $3 fee and another fee was waived because I'm retired military. read more

I visited these guys last year. Wanted to warn you guys that these guys don't take Euro coins. Strictly a paper bill only place. Can't really hold this against them since handling coins can be heavy. read more

Called ahead to make sure they were open. It took me a while to find it once inside the mall and when I did, same as other reviews, lights were off and sign on the door said they would return. The door was open so I walked in and the guy working there told me he would be free in 30min as he was taking lunch at 6pm. Business hours are a suggestion here. I paid $2 to park and wasted my time. Will never return to this place and highly don't recommend. read more

Easy to buy Euros (or any other currency). Safe, convenient and the rates are posted up front.

Currency exchange can be tricky business for the traveler, but here at TCE you can have a quick and easy experience! The goal rate I went in for was 1 EUR = 1.18498 (today's going rate from www.xe.com) As you can see I received 1.2572 ... all in all that is a good margin and something that when you walk away with fresh bills in your pocket you don't feel ripped off. I hate that feeling especially when you are forced to exchange overseas in less than savory conditions. The great draw is that they are open later than most all banks in town and offer no exchange fee for military with proper ID! Definitely worth a pre-trip visit if you need cash exchanged on good terms and with nice customer service! read more

Texas Currency Exchange - Travel Services Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Great experience! I exchanged for Yen's and everything worked out perfectly while in Japan.

Quick and simple, had South African Rands. Easy to get to in the mall with validation of parking. Recommend

Thank you so much for all of your help. Your service was great when our bank was of no help.

Super easy, and quick, transaction with knowledgeable staff. Located in River Center Mall. Highly recommend. read more

Very efficient and personable staff. Their exchange rate was exactly the same as Frost Bank's (plus the $5 fee for exchanging 2K today). Their new location in North Star Mall, at the Dillard's end, is easy to find. Have exchanged currency with them before, when they were located in the Rivercenter, and have never had any problems. read more

Well I was going to Costa Rica and needed colones. Even though most places did accept American money. I was returning some euros. Just remember when exchanging change the only give you the weight value. Lady was friendly but they are located in the river center mall so besides the exchange fee you will also have to pay for parking. read more

Dr Buckley and the office staff are the best. He listens and gives me the advice I need.

Very fast (less than 5 minutes), fee is about $4, no line and friendly staff! Great service!

Great service and super helpful! Staff is friendly and informative! Make sure you get there early can get busy during the holidays!

This place was legit, accurate and has a good exchange rate with low fees. I will definitely be returning here for future exchanges.

Awesome service! If you are planning on doing any international travel or are returning from international travel, this is definitely the place to go to buy/sell foreign money. The Texas Currency Exchange is located on the 2nd floor (1st floor if you enter from the street level) of the Rivercenter Mall right next to Macy's. My boyfriend and I have used this location several times to purchase currency for upcoming trips and each time the transaction has been smooth with limited wait time. Today we purchased Japanese Yen and Filipino pesos as a gift for a friend who is traveling to Asia next week. The staff were friendly, fast and efficient. I appreciate that he asked how we wanted the currency broken down and let us know the conversions from USD. Tip: Check in on the yelp app for 50% off your transaction fee ($3.00) or show your military ID to have the fee waived completely. read more

If you are ever in need of foreign currency and don't have time to wait for a bank to order it for you this is the place to come to. It was a last minute trip and didn't have time very glad to have found this place. Easy to find next to Dillard's in River center Mall. Staff very friendly and helpful. read more

Great service, terrific hours and very decent rates. Flat rates for exchage instead of percentage charge. I'm giving 5 stars because their rates beat anything you'd find in an airport like DFW. I dont even think SAT has a currency exchange. It was worth the drive. read more

Today, should I say around 1500hrs I went to exchange with 1,225,000 Iraq Dinar which has a conversion of 0.00084 per US dollar, and ol' dude tried finesse level X9000 by offering me $618!!! Buyer beware!!! This guy was a crook, trying to rip off a veteran right before thanksgiving! Valued at about $1029 US Dollars!!! Go through USAA or a reputable business for currency exchange! read more

I called a few banks around town and TCE was by far, the best rate I found. The tellers were very helpful and provided a lot of useful information such as a "cheat sheet" that showed the conversion rate for my purchases in Europe. Will come back in the future. read more

I originally gave this place lower than 5 star rating due to some issues I had with the service I received from the unhappy cashier at the window, but corporate was quick to respond and let me know they value my service so I plan to use them again before my next trip. This place is easy to get to, easy to exchange money and the rates are very good. I have always used my bank in the past, but this place is a bit easier and quicker to use when exchanging money in my opinion. read more

Super great, super fast. Such an easy experience, and very accessible.

Very quick and easy. The Yelp discount was easy to use. The exchange rate was very good.

WATCH OUT these guys are not the folks to use. Recently stopped by and wanted a currency normally not carried but called ahead and the said the could order it for me I just had to leave a cash deposit. So I went in and encountered an employee who said I could indeed purchase the currency I needed took my $1000 said they would call when it came in. Got the call a few days later and drove across town the next day to find they only had $700 of the $1000 ordered, seems they sold $300 of the $1000 I paid for to another customer. This allegedly by a new employee mistake. No manager to talk to except by phone. Had to pay $11 twice for parking in the area lot. Purchase at an exchange rate which less than posted international rate and there is a transaction fee. I wonder what king of training is given employees and what are the qualifications of the trainers are. Management called all they said is they would discipline the employee, Why if he was not trained and supervised correctly? I purchased the currency in advance it was mine the had my $1000 and yet they sold my currency seems like theft to me, run don't walk from these folks. Kenneth Neal read more
