What business do you know that allows people to come on their property almost an hour after their…read moreposted closed time? These people allowed it and then kidnapped my wife to give her a tour of the place. Hensley Produce, just go ahead and take this 5 star rating! Obviously these are very friendly people. You see all the farming that is taking place as you drive into the property. This is family property and the oldest couple (Larry and Shirley) are the farmers. You see dogs relaxing around the property. You see kids fishing around the property. These mid 70s couple have their children help them sell stuff for them. The kids put in sell equity to ensure their parent's sweat equity also makes it to their households. I'll say this about their produce - if they don't think it's good, they will not sell it. They guarantee satisfaction with their watermelon. I've never heard of that before, but they do it. They are that confident about their stuff. I saw a Facebook live post with all their goods, and they were almost completely out by the time we made it there. I saw potatoes, 1 tomato, corn, watermelon, yellow squash, purple hull beans, and onions. I also saw cantaloupe, but they refused to sell it because the sweetness was not consistent from fruit to fruit. Bring cash to make it easier on everyone. Oddly enough, they do checks as well. Supporting local farmers is easy when the farmers are this friendly.

It's a family business down to the china the meals are served on. The tea room is beautifully kept and inviting. Loved the sampler lunch with pimento cheese, chicken salad and cucumber dill sandwiches and great tomato basil soup too. Next time I will make sure to save room for dessert as well. I had iced tea but they had a very nice selection of Ahmad tea for hot tea. The owner and staff were absolutely lovely and even arranged a comfy little place next to our table for my friends baby boy to lie and play on while we ate. We enjoyed browsing the cute gift shop in the front of the building as well. Such a nice place to enjoy lunch and I look forward to going back!

Once you get to the back Tea Room you'll be given a simple menu to choose from and nothing on it is less than delicious. The hot tomato basil soup was served in a teacup. So cute!! With a generous portion of quiche for my main course, the side dish stole the show. The best broccoli salad I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend stopping by for a nibble and a shop. I would also recommend the peach tea and buttermilk pie. The menu may change as they repair their food fresh daily. You won't find food processors here, it's all done by hand with love.
