The best English speaker gave me recommendations based on food amounts. This place is a full meat market, bakery, kitchen, and offer a lot of Hispanic novelty and spices. The bad: I truly hate spending a lot of money on Mexican food! My frugal meter does not like this place when it comes time to pay. Did I just spend $10 on 3 mini tacos? Did I just spend $15 on beans, rice, a hot dog, slim ribs, and one split chicken leg quarter? They have yet to put up a menu and pricing, so sticker shock definitely happened once I was verbally made away of pricing. I know Taco Bell isn't real Mexican food, but I could have fed 4 people, with drinks, for the amount I paid here. I am aware that the likelihood of visiting the porcelain crown is a lot lower eating here instead of Taco Bell! The ugly: I was expecting a flavor explosion. The flavor was light fizzle at best. I wanted my tongue to do a dance, but at best, my tongue just did a quick head nod to acknowledge the food presence. All in all, I have to go back because their are several sweet breads that I wish to try. I may even turn off my frugal meter and by the freshly made pork skins. Ox tails are expensive per pound, but at least I know they have them.

The chicken breast was very fresh and very superior to what I have purchased at any local grocery store. The service was great and the individual who helped us was very knowledgeable. Every item you purchased is shrink wrapped so it can go directly into the freezer. The prices are reasonable and we will definitely be purchasing from Ainsworth Meats again!

Fortunately, Stone Cold Meats recently took over this space, and I was really excited to check them out because their other locations were highly rated. And it turns out: I see why. I came here to stock up on Super Bowl food: steaks, burgers, sausage and some sides. Almost all of it was a home run. Or, a touchdown, I guess I should say. I ordered 3 bone-in ribeyes and they turned out to be really great. I was a little concerned because they were not nearly as pricey as they are at some nicer butcher shops, but my concerns were unfounded. Great steaks, great prices. I also ordered some brisket mac-n-cheese, two different kinds of potato salad, some brisket burgers and some sausage stuffed with mac-n-cheese. The potato salads and sausage were a big hit. The burgers and mac were just okay. But that's okay because the important stuff was awesome. When I purchased my stuff, the woman asked me if I wanted to sign up for their rewards program. Normally I hate giving my information out, but I was happy to do it in this case. Apparently, you can get some really good deals once you earn enough points. I foresee a future with many points earned.

For my birthday I asked for a Prime rib roast. The buying experience at the store (in Conroe) was so much better than other options in the area that it's almost not a fair fight. The butcher was super friendly, listened closely to what I wanted, and gave me multiple choices. He brought out two entire rib racks, trimmed them down in front of us, and gave us a choice of which one, and which end. After enduring the barely helpful butchers at larger stores, this was like a breath of fresh air. The piece we chose was exactly what we wanted, and when it was finally time to eat we were blown away. The texture and the flavor of the meat was better than anything we've ever had, comparable only to the finest steakhouses like Vic & Anthony's or Pappas Brothers. It was amazing. See the last two pictures, below. To say that SCM will be our butchers from now on is an understatement. For a little extra you not only get better meat than elsewhere, you get a truly fun and engaging shopping experience. Last Review (October 2024) This is my favorite new store of any kind in the entire county. The assortment and quality of meats is amazing, but I most appreciated the owner's knowledge and enthusiasm, and especially his willingness to spend time discussing his various products and his favorite way to cook them. We've been back several times since our first visit last week and their mild Italian sausage that we cooked this week (with peppers and onions) was truly outstanding. Then we tried their brisket burgers and THEY were amazing! This is a very welcome addition to the area and we'll be regulars.

Well it wasn't and my hubby ended up not being able to have salsa on his tamales. Hence the 4stars for the review! The fresh and marinated meat department is 5 Star! It takes up the entire back side the grocery store. It's also very organized and the gentleman spoke English :)! Much of the marinated meats are also cut up in the marinade ready for grilling/barbecuing. They have a smaller bakery section where prices fluctuate on whether they or Arandas Bakery has better pricing. Their Tres Leches cakes don't look made on location either. Great pricing on veggies. Plus everything looked fresh! Good sized poblano peppers. They have the typical taqueria section section to get a quick snack or meal like their other grocery stores around the Greater Houston Metropolitan area!
