Fresh fruits and fixings

If you like something that much, it only means you would like to come back again for more. And, so we did. We returned to Hotel Tesoro! My partner and I had been at Hotel Tesoro a couple years ago, right around the time when travelers were still skeptical about traveling to Mexico (or wherever around the country), but it didn't stop us. We took advantage of flight deals to Mexico each month. So, we chose Hotel Tesoro in Cabo and why not. We liked it then and we liked it even better in February. Our long time friends had joined us in Cabo and had the best birthday Cabo 3-day trip ever. We arrived at Hotel Tesoro around 7pm, mid week. We were welcomed by desk staff and got checked in no time. The lobby was open setting, very spacious, nice decor, over all, a pleasant atmosphere. I liked that there was a little mini market at the lobby area. I did not recall seeing it before. Our rooms were nothing to brag about (basic, no balcony, nothing fancy), a little out dated but it was okay for us because we rarely stayed indoor. We were out and about throughout the day and didn't come home until midnight or so. We had some pool and jacuzzi time. It was perfect for the several hours we spent hanging outside, taking in some not-so-heated sun and simply enjoying the view of the marina...sea of Cortez. It was definitely good day for roof top lounging. The Vista Roof restaurant offered complimentary full breakfast buffet. It was exceptional. A nice variety of fresh and delicious foods. The servers, on the other hand, were not so exceptional. What we've experienced and have compared to other all-inclusive full buffet restaurants, the servers at Vista Roof do not have that friendly welcoming attitude. I thought that maybe at least one of them would be a stand out. But no. They have however, approached us only when it was time to sign our name and room number on the check. Nothing more. On that same note, the pool servers weren't exceptional either. From what I recall, there were about 2-3 male servers huddling around the pool bar area. It did not appear that any of servers were concerned or paid any attention to guests in/around the pool unless they were summoned by one of us. They were friendly but not at all attentive. Not sure if that's how pool servers conduct business but from my experience at other resorts, pool servers should always be "working the room" ...there will always be someone at the pool or lounge chairs in need of something. It was annoying having to flag down a server(s) from afar. House keepers were all friendly and polite and would ask if there was anything we needed. Unfortunately, opposite that of the roof top servers at the pool and restaurant. Special shout out to Jose the lobby bartender. Friendly, caring, attentive and fun. He should train roof top restaurant and pool servers on how to become exceptional customer service staff. We liked the Light House restaurant the last time we visited. However, preferred the full buffet at Vista Roof for our breakfast needs instead. By the way, the omelette station staff were exceptional. Despite the unexceptional staff members at Hotel Tesoro, I still feel it deserves an overall 5 star. It's walking distance to the marina, the restaurants, bars, stores, pharmacies, activities, etc. All nearby. We didn't need a rental car during our stay in Cabo but only to get to and from the airport. We will definitely return to Hotel Tesoro. Hopefully by then, the unexceptional staff have already been trained in becoming exceptional

Avoid the Misrepresented Tesoro Los Cabos - Overrated as a 4-Star Resort** Travel Dates: Christmas 2024 Expectations: advertised as 4-star all-inclusive resort with multiple dining options, modern rooms, and a family-friendly vibe. Reality: Falls short of 4-star claim, Dining Issues: - Advertised dining restaurant closed. - Remaining 2 restaurants had similar menus - Friendly staff, but clearly understaffed and slow service - 2+ hours Serving times, - Missing ordered items. Had to leave the resort multiple times to find food Room Quality: - Room window faced public hallway, with "no privacy" forcing window coverings always closed - room had no balcony - Room Safe was broken and unsecured- Safety Concerns: - Multiple solicitations for drugs and prostitution, including in hotel restrooms - Felt uncomfortable walking around the resort in the evenings Management Response: - Management was in denial was dismissive and unhelpful - Management refused to accept responsibility or take actions despite other guests similar complaints Final Thoughts: Staff tried hard, but the resort struggles with poor service, outdated rooms, and safety concerns. More of a 2.5 - 3-star experience and not recommended for families.

I went to Tesoro Los Cabos for gradweek and had an amazing time. Great food and great drinks. Loved the staff, super friendly and welcoming. Especially Noé! He was by FAR the best staff member there. Give him a raise now.

Pro - Good location and plenty of places for entertainment. Nice bar and good ambiance. A lot of good eateries nearby and plenty of night life. Con - bathroom was kinda dirty and had some stains. I was a bit surprised and I took photos below. This is definitely not a 4 star resort. While the rest of the room was clean, I was a bit surprised by the lack of cleanliness in the restroom. I typically judge the quality of the hotel by the tidiness of the restroom and this was definitely subpar

For my three-night stay, this place was perfect. I highly recommend including breakfast with your stay--it was absolutely delicious! Dinner was decent, depending on what you order. Overall, the hotel staff, especially the maids, were incredibly friendly and convenient to have around. I truly fell in love with the view from our hotel room!

Great time here! The Lighthouse was great and Noé gave us great service both times we came. Super welcoming staff but Noé was the best!

cute and clean hotel (rose not included)

Stayed here for a few days for a long birthday weekend and am so, so happy. Staying at a hotel with mixed reviews can be scary, especially as I look through some of the reviews for this place, having had my fair share of nightmare experiences with overnight stays. Maybe they had major renovations during COVID (looked very updated when I stayed in Sept 2022) or got lucky with my room (original booking ended up being unavailable and was upgraded to a huge room with double king sized bed and direct pool/restaurant access from our "balcony" space. View was also amazing! Our room was updated and we had the AC blasting as we binged George Lopez on Peacock (included on our TV). We also got breakfast included with our room -- BEST DECISION EVER! Please do it. There's a breakfast taco lady and she is the sweetest lady and her tacos are amazing. The omelette lady was also great but I think I got food poisoning from the bacon being slightly undercooked. Still, giving this place 5/5 stars bc that's how great it was and the bacon definitely looked sus (some parts not completely cooked) and I ate it anyway so.... It also has a great view whenever you are because it's right between the pier and downtown/main hub. We saw soooo many seals from the pool deck! It was also perfect walking distance to a bunch of places, including Solomon's Landing (a must) and a bunch of grocery stores (thanks for hauling giant liters of water back to our room, @ bf)! Would 200% stay here again when we come back, and hopefully that is very soon! Also, in case anyone is stressed about getting to the airport for their return flight, the hotel offers a shuttle service for a fee. I think it was around 20ish per person? Uber/taxi is cheaper (we taxi'd from the airport to the hotel) but if your flight is at a weird time, I wouldn't risk trying to find an uber/outside taxi).

Good food and good views

Loved staying here for five days four nights. We got the all inclusive package that included booze and food. I recommend doing that, it was a great deal. Currently, there are three restaurants you can choose to eat at. The food at the breakfast buffet was good but they also have a la cart at the lighthouse restaurant. The food at the vista roof was my favorite for lunch and dinner. The food at the lighthouse was good for breakfast and I liked the atmosphere there. They had the birria tacos for breakfast and those were so delicious. Everything comes well done. Specify that you want something coked rare. They like it crispy here! Service is slow at all restaurants but especially lighthouse. Skypool is soooo much fun! They have a swim up bar, sushi, and really good tacos. They have drinks in the fridge inside your room as well. You get two refills of everything per day. The room was awesome and perfect. We had a huge balcony and everything was clean. The showers were really nice with glass doors. Not all the employees speak English so touch up on your Spanish! WiFi is horrible but it was kind of nice not being on our phone all day. Not the best if you're planning to work. Covid testing available on site and very convenient. Security is on top of it and we felt safe our whole stay.

Salads

Excellent ceviches, salads, tomatoe marmalade...OMG...and service from Jose and staff. I highly recommend it!!

It was whale sight - seeing that brought us to Cabo and it was a spectacular day out. We visited Cabo on two separate occasions within a week and called by the bar at this hotel each time just for three essentials: coffees, toilets and WiFi. I did smile to myself as the same two Americans and one Canadian were still at the bar second time around (sing us a song you're the piano man). They recognised us too. The bar men knew their drinks and kept them loaded. The large tv screen at the bar was showing American football that engaged most of the clientele and we sat at the bar with the assurances of tee shirt wearing Americans that we were on the right side of Trump's Wall. The hotel is on the cusp of the pier and it's not at all obvious it's a hotel as you approach. It's quite a low key/low rise place. On our first visit 6 days earlier we literally got cappuccinos served in half pint glasses and second time it was much smaller portions. I cannot explain why on the first visit we were charged about a dollar less than the second visit especially as the portions were smaller second time around. Oh well. The coffee was fairly ok, the WiFi was fast and they provided a code that lasted 2 hours. A code was also needed to gain access to the toilets so maybe the second barman added a toilet fee. The staff were very helpful to us and earned a good tip (yes BC it happens, not a lot, but it happens). The Canadian lady told me that she paid 1200 Canadian dollars for each 7 nights at the hotel for room only. She was not in a hurry to return to her maritime climate homeland. I know how she feels. The town itself is a mix of very uneven and badly cracked footpaths, potholes, there's a light tang of raw sewage in the warm air, restaurants offering food priced for Americans, flea market stores flogging tat from tee shirts to plastic human skulls with gentle hassle to buy, massage/nail parlours and chemist shops. The American health care system must be keeping Mexico financially afloat (Mexico is one of 5 countries that rely on a good world market price for sugar like Thailand). There are a few not very salubrious public toilets at a 50 cent entry fee so if you're a tourist needing any or all of our three essentials I recommend here and you'll likely get a friendly welcome, mediocre coffee and 2 hours of good WiFi.

Check-In Experience As soon as we stepped out of the car, multiple staff members greeted us warmly. One offered welcome drinks, another handled our luggage, and we were introduced to our private butler. The butler took my phone number and let me know I could text anytime for assistance. Another staff member completed our check-in -- we never had to visit the front desk. We simply handed over our passports and credit card, and everything was taken care of. Room & Upgrade As Hilton Diamond members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to 2 Bedroom Resort Casita with Plunge Pool without even asking. ‍ All rooms in this hotel have its own private pool. While the view wasn't the best (we could see the family pool rather than a clear ocean view), the villa itself was huge and very comfortable. Full kitchen, washer, and dryer made the stay extremely convenient. Even the bathroom tissues were scented -- a small but thoughtful detail! Things to Improve * Slippers were not very comfortable * Pillows were very soft -- great if you like soft pillows, but if you prefer firmer/high pillows, you may need to request extras * Didn't see cotton pads or cotton swabs in the room (probably available upon request) * Wi-Fi connection was unstable at times Overall Despite a few small drawbacks, the service, upgrade, and villa experience made this stay very memorable. The personalized check-in and Diamond recognition truly stood out.

Our room was literally right under the Hilton sign on the sixth floor. We had a great view of the whole property from our balcony. It's worth it because the buffet is around $40/person. The property is very nice and well maintained. They have a hot tub, infinity hot tub, an adult infinity pool, and a massive pool right in the center. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great. Everything was really good and it tasted authentic. I opted for the Cook to order omelettes or eggs and chilaquiles. The avocado toast was amazing. They have a Rotating item where a cook prepares it for you on the spot. You must get the nachos by the pool. They're great for two people and they were so good. They have a total of three restaurants which we ate at two of them because we really enjoyed the Italian, called Velas. They had live music the nights we went. We also went to Lena on taco Tuesday, which was their Tacos and Margarita Night. The beach is beautiful, very walkable. There is a lifeguard on duty. Beautiful sunsets. The positives: The food and service were particularly good; they have a Michelin rated restaurant, Manta, on site, which has a 5 course tasting menu I recommend trying. We actually tried every food option (rooftop bar for dinner, pool bar for apps, Sunken Living Room for breakfast/dinner, The Ledge for breakfast/dinner, Manta for dinner) and found them all to be distinct in their own right but uniformly quite good. Most memorable items were the tofu salad at the Rooftop bar, the rice chips at Manta and the tempura fish tacos. Prices are pretty expensive, similar to CA Bay Area pricing. There are 2 pools and the beach immediately in front of the hotel was very nice (lots of surfers!). Some rooms also included plunge pools! The negative: the only issue we had was the constant loud music - from the pool bar during the day and from the rooftop bar at night. I wore earplugs the entire trip to dull the high decibels. The loudness seemed unnecessary to create fun atmosphere as it was deafening. Nevertheless, we would stay again if we are in the area. Though I strongly prefer the Costa Palmas area of Cabo more. Tip: Thompson is part of World of Hyatt; Globalists receive daily free breakfast that runs to 11:30am, which helped reduced food costs somewhat.

Located right on the beach you can either sit right on the beach or on the shaded terrace - which is one level higher and also where the bar is. You can reserve a table via Open Table which makes reservations easy. The service wasn't very friendly. They acted like we were doing them a favor by eating there and our waitress was downright surly! The food was good but weird. Mostly because the menu descriptions did not exactly match what we ordered. For example we ordered the burrata salad and not only did it come with pesto as advertised, but they also put guacamole on it. Weird! We expected it to have both tomatillo salsa and pesto per the menu but not guacamole! Another example was we ordered the salmon tartare which was advertised as having mezcal aoli, tobiko, goat cheese and another sauce. Well when it arrived it is basically a cheese dip like you'd get in the MidWest with tiny (1/8" minced pieces) salmon shavings in the 97% goat cheese covered in a layer of "tobiko" but as someone who eats sushi multiple times a week I can say with pretty high certainty that it was actually the cheaper/smaller/milder masago and not real tobiko - I mean both are fish eggs but I can tell the difference. But fish eggs aside this was NOT a salmon tartare it was a goat cheese dip that consisted of a small 3% of the dish having minced almost microscopic salmon. I mean for a cheese dip it was weird but tasted ok but this dish for sure is NOT a salmon tartare. It's pretty sad my favorite thing I ate here were the sweet potatoes fries that come premade so they are impossible to mess up. Those accompanied the lobster roll that was so over-seasoned and overcooked you couldn't even taste the flavor of the lobster. The second best thing I ate here after the sweet potato fries was the Macho ceviche. That was good - I'd order it again. The grilled artichoke was also overcooked since it was over-charred so I kept getting a burnt taste in my mouth. Overall, the view was great, the service was bad and the food was weird. I won't be coming here again since there are tons of better tasting, better service restaurants in Cabo with just as good of a view.

There are several pools on-site, including a swim-up bar, and they often have live music in the evenings, which added to the atmosphere. The only downside was the on-site restaurant--the food was mediocre, so we preferred cooking in the room or going out to eat. There is a BBQ area available for guests, which was a nice option. Love the friendly staff, especially activities director Jesus, who even remembered my daughter's name from a year ago! Bartenders and servers are all great, too. This year we were in a large one bedroom "garden view" villa in Building 1 (1104A) - which actually had a view of the pool and ocean. It was on the 1st floor, right next to the small pool, and just steps down to the ping pong table, which was certainly convenient, but not very private, and during theme nights, like the Mexican dancing, it was really loud to hear them pounding their feet on the wooden stage, but it was fine overall. Still love the activities - Aqua bingo, movie trivia, ping pong tournament. This year we rented a car, which we made use of almost every day for grocery runs, hikes and day trips. Planned to go to La Paz to swim with the whale sharks, but the dock was closed due to high winds, so we drove up to Todos Santos - our daughter went on a hike/run on the beautiful Cerro Punta Lobos trail, and we walked the peaceful beach near the boutique Hotel San Cristobal, then shopping, matcha lattes and taco stand in Todos Santos (couldn't get a last-minute reservation at Jazamango). Then on New Year's Eve, we did the Forcado 5K by the San Jose del Cabo Marina, and my older daughter came in 1st place of all the women! Hoping they do this again next year. Food and drinks are fresh and tasty - liked the eggs benedict, and nachos are always great. Favorite drinks are still the margaritas (traditional, mango and guava) and mojitos (with whatever berries are fresh). Did the timeshare presentation for some resort credit, and it was fine -- not too informative, not always accurate, but not too high pressure. Already booked our room for next year, and looking forward to it!

This place offered a nice mix of clientele and amenities that you would want to have on your trip. The restaurant options were all very good and their food and service were excellent. We didn't have one bad meal, except for one dish (tempura at the Japanese restaurant). All the staff were amazing for the most part and your requests were met without issues. The one tip, if you're a water person, is to pre-request bottled water to your room early. There was several times we had to seek for our own water supply. Not the end of the world and not to say it was intentional. They were very busy with all the people. The grounds are well lit and well maintained. The staff was always working. The room was good for us with even our own mini bar and stocked fridge. The one downside was the noise from the entrainment and other people in the hallways. The noise carried into the room very loudly. The entertainment normally ended around 11 p.m. The other guests, however went throughout the night up until as late as 3 AM. This is an all-inclusive resort however, tipping was appreciated. So I would make sure you bring enough ones in fives for your trip. Also, you cannot swim at the beach front in front of the resort due to the under toe and waves. You can, however, walk down the beach to an area that is more accessible. Overall, I would stay at this place again.

Hotel Riu Palace Cabo, STAT!…read more This was our first time here and we had the absolute BEST time! This all-inclusive hotel/more like a 5-star spa resort was da bomb! While our accommodations were amazing (king bed with an ocean view), the staff - and I mean on ALL LEVELS - were the glue that made our overall experience so fun and memorable! I've never seen employees work harder...always cheerful, kind, professional and some added a whole lot of spunk and enthusiasm (hence the water aerobics and other fun events)...the Riu parties are never-ending if that's your thing! Seriously though, there is something for everyone...including the kiddos! The entire staff was always attentive, professional, cheerful and we always felt comfortable and cared for. Please tip these hard working folks (and don't forget your hotel room cleaning crews). $2 bills + are always greatly appreciated ;-) The restaurants were all so good, but our fav was the Italian restaurant (ItaLiano). The Osso Bucco was off the charts...tender and so delish! Aide (pronounced I-Dee) was our waitress with the mostess! She always took such great care of our crew! What else can I say, but can't wait to come back to this clean, friendly, energetic and fun slice of Cabo paradise!

Staff was friendly and loved the amenities: Pools, hot tub, restaurants, spa, gym, a marketplace to purchase snacks, water, sunscreen etc; an onsite Starbucks... and 15-20 minute walk to el Centro. The area is A LOT quieter with a more "mature" patrons than Cabo, which I prefer. The fish tacos from the pool restaurant (Flora) were deeeelish. Didn't love all of their cocktails, so I stuck to the aperol spritz. They have a calendar of daily events (pool games, movies, activites, like pinata-making) to keep the family busy. For the wedding--service, decor, FOOD was top notch. Some of the best wedding food I've had, as I know catering a seated dinner for a large group isn't easy... food was fresh, flavorful... so many cleaned plates. Overall, great stay. ~$55 USD taxi from airport; paid $700 MXP to airport via shuttle

I'm always blown away at the immediate responses when texting with the concierge - they reply in less than 1-2 minutes. The resort is quiet and relaxing, the food and drinks are top notch - only downside is the prices are really expensive but that's all of Cabo nowadays. We'd rather pay to have high quality drinks then stay at an all inclusive resort with gross food and watery drinks. We'll be back soon! - Kylee T

My first time in Cabo and after a lot of online searching I locked down on the Bahia. Overall it…read morewas a pretty good experience. I was confused when I got there - the website shows an overview of the ocean and their beach house - which is on the beach, but the actual hotel is a few blocks inward. They offer a golf cart ride down the street to drop you off. When you are at the beach house you let them know you're staying with the Bahia and entitled to certain discounts. So the staff is attentive and courteous. The pool looks good but it was primarily empty. The food looked good - we had breakfast there and it was very good. The beach house has an open area to sit down inside with shade, and there's a small sectioned off area on the beach in the sand. You get waitstaff to get drinks for you. At times it can get really crowded, but then again it was busy there - right after Spring Break. It is quite loud and noisy there - with music and crowds. The rooms - were very nice. The bed was king, it was firm, it was comfortable, it was clean. There was also an extra small bed aside for guests - we never used it. It is spacious. The bathrooms were nice and clean too. The doors are heavy and secure, so make sure when you leave they are completely closed and locked because one night we thought so - but it did not latch. We came back and the door was open, we freaked out, but all was good and safe. We were lucky. Just make sure the door is secure and latched and you'll be fine. But overall I thought this place was great and I would recommend them. The rooms are very nice and clean. Staff was accommodating. If you're okay with it not being exactly on the beach then you'll be fine here.

While we initially enjoyed the location and overall property, our stay was ultimately overshadowed…read moreby a serious incident in which $2,000 was stolen from our room. While the theft itself was extremely concerning, the most disappointing part of our experience was the response from front desk staff and management. Rather than demonstrating urgency, empathy, or accountability, we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong. Our concerns were not taken seriously, and there was little effort to investigate, provide reassurance, or offer any meaningful resolution. Due to the lack of trust that followed, we no longer felt comfortable allowing staff into our room and declined housekeeping for the remainder of our 4-night stay. This significantly impacted our comfort and overall experience. For a property of this caliber, both the incident and its handling fell far below expectations. This experience left a lasting negative impression and raises serious concerns about guest safety and how such situations are managed. We would strongly encourage management to take this matter seriously and address both the incident and their response to it, as it significantly impacts guest trust and safety.
