Tomahawk INEDIBLE steak
Angela N.

Looks are definitely deceiving. It's a pretty restaurant on the beach but super disappointing. The cocktails were very good - but we ordered the Tomahawk - one word - INEDIBLE. It's as if it was sourced from an old, dying cow that was dehydrated. Couldn't cut it and couldn't chew it, despite being cooked at medium rare temp. Service was terrible - the people that worked there just stood together talking or stepping to the side to smoke. When I mentioned to the server he said it was supposed to be like that?!? Obviously sent it to the kitchen for the chef himself to taste but beyond disgusting. Maybe this is the quality of meat that they can source but definitely do not order. We ordered more broccolini and left. Would not recommend unless you're just going for the view and drinks. Also use copious amounts of bug spray.

They had Amazing service! Ismael, he was our waiter and he was soo great, very attentive, even though he was SUPER busy, he didn't forget us and was timely with everything... The drinks were delish, perfect view of the beach and ocean, the chairs and umbrellas were great and there was plenty for all of us to be shaded even though they were packed. It was a great experience, a bit pricey but we would come again!

Probably our best meal in Cabo! Everything was absolutely delicious with a great view of the beach and ocean. This restaurant is a great place for a date night or romantic night with the sound of the waves and a light breeze. The week we visited was right after the hurricane and it was so hot and humid and flies everywhere we went. Restaurant staff was on top of the fly issue setting up deterrents so we could eat peacefully. So appreciated. Crab cakes were superb, as well as the burger!!

View from our chairs and snapper fillet for lunch.

We were staying in San Jose and wanted to spend a day on Medano beach. Our concierge suggested SUR Beach House and we were very glad he did. The location is lovely - in the middle of the activity, but not too noisy. Our lounge chairs were close to the water's edge and the view was very pretty. We were taken care of from the moment we arrived. Gustavo was our server and was always available when we needed him. We were here a long time and enjoyed both breakfast and lunch. The food was delicious.

F-off Friday starts now, let's go!

It's very rare for a restaurant to go from a 0 stars to a 5 star fantastic experience in 2 hours, but that happened today. Frustrating check in and epic ending due to Gerardo, Freda, Pancho, Ceasar and Juanito. Plus Oliver the DJ who took some great shots. From the bottle of bubbles to great food and skinny margaritas to finish all while enjoying the view and vibe only SUR can provide, turned out great. Thank you all!

SUR Beach House wasn't bad but I wasn't that good either. The oysters were very fresh and probably our favorite thing, the prices here are kinda crazy compared to other restaurants with way better views to justify it. There's Waldorfs spot, cocina Del Mar, and a few others where they're the same price and 10times the better view. Customer service was also really bad we had 2 different waiters.. no idea why but it definitely caused confusion it was just my wife and I and at mid way through our bill is around $300 before dessert no big deal we're on vacation. HOWEVER then when a table of 8 came in we were completely abandoned while they got treated like royalty haha. Went from 2 servers to 0 and completely abandoned We won't be back nothing really screamed special if you do go get the ceviche and oysters avoid the steak

First time in Cabo! SUR Beach House is right next to The Sand Bar, where you can expect great massages. My recommended itinerary is to get massages by the beach in the morning and then come here for lunch. SUR Beach House ended up being the best meal of the trip, and I had tried a fair amount of places in the area. FLAVOR (4.1/5): 1. MANGO SMOOTHIE: The mango smoothie was delicious and refreshing. Comes with dehydrated pineapple on top. 2. EEL ROLL: The eel roll was good. 3. SOFT SHELL CRAB ROLL: The soft shell crab roll was yummy. It's served differently than in the states - they don't include the crab legs at the ends of the roll, but it's still decently filling. 4. SALMON ROLL: Also good, but overall the rolls were not my favorite. The sushi itself is fresh, but don't expect out of this world flavor if you're used to the high quality sushi of the states (Yunomi, Sugarfish, etc.). 5. CRISPY RIB EYE TIPS: Best dish of the entire meal. The rib eye tips were so flavorful and crispy. The guacamole helped round out the flavor of the tomatillo sauce and the dish comes with blue corn tortillas to help bring it all together. Everyone couldn't get enough of this one. 6. FRIED CALAMARI: The fried calamari was yummy! Can't go wrong. 7. HANDMADE PASTA: The handmade pasta was the weakest dish of the lot. The pork belly we added was good, but the flavors of the curry butter and bonito flakes felt out of place. 8. ZARANDEADO RED SNAPPER: The red snapper was delicious. Cooked to perfection, with a little bit of zest from the quinoa salad. It had a strong flavor from the sauce compared to the Grilled Totoaba, which is on the lighter, creamier side. I prefered the Red Snapper, although both were good. 9. GRILLED TOTOABA: All the fish dishes were hits here. The chard and verjus vinaigrette brings a lightness to the dish that complements the fish well. 10. KAMPACHI TIRADITO: The fish was very fresh, and the garlic chips, ponzu, and avocado mousse were the perfect combination of flavors. Definitely recommend as a starter. 11: MATCHAMISU SAKE & YUZU: Onto desserts! The matchamisu was super creamy and delicious. Texture wise, it leans more into cheesecake territory, although I'm not complaining. Often times with matcha tiramisu, the matcha can get too overpowering and bitter, but that's not the case here. The yuzu adds a nice citrus to balance out the heaviness of the cream, although maybe a little less of it would have been nice. 12: BLACK TEA CREME BRULEE: The black tea creme brulee was the more avant garde dessert. A little sweeter than the matchamisu - maybe too sweet. The tapioca pearls were super fun to eat, but not your usual tapioca pearls you expect in boba. They're firmer and smaller. Between the two desserts we ordered, I preferred the Matchamisu, but I didn't mind the creme brulee (I still finished it all). SERVICE (5/5): Service was amazing!! Super accommodating and they remembered who had food intolerances and who didn't. AMBIENCE (5/5): Beautiful spot by the water. You can see how blue the ocean is from your table. If you make a reservation, I think you can get a better spot outside, closer to the water, but we still had an amazing experience from where we were. TAKEAWAYS: Having been to Mexico City, it was hard to find a place in Cabo that could compare food-wise, given that it's more known for its partying and beach scene. However, SUR Beach House exceeded expectations with its amazing service, beautiful view, and delicious dishes. The standouts for me were the Crispy Rib Eye Tips and Zarandeado Red Snapper. I also recommend the Grilled Octopus for those who like octopus.

Navigator of the Seas

The Mrs. and I spent yesterday at SUR Beach House on what was the second stop on our seven day voyage on the Navigator of the Seas. We originally had a reservation to enjoy the beach club at 11 a.m. but we arrived shortly before 10 and were able to get seated on a beautiful spot right on the front of the beach. We were provided with two beach chairs, towels, two small tables, and umbrella for some much needed shade. We were given a breakfast menu and the Mrs. ordered a pastry and coffee along with orange juice and water. Lunch wasn't available until 11:45. Meanwhile, we enjoyed the cool beautiful water and scenery of Cabo San Lucas. Shorty before 11 our server, Renzo arrived and said he would be taking care of us. We ordered Margaritas, which were VERY STRONG. We started with the Black Aguachile which consisted of Bay Scallops, shrimp, Mango, cucumber and a spicy ceviche sauce. What made it black was the tortilla ash that was mixed in with the sauce. It was a very well composed and refreshing dish. The second dish we ordered was the Fried Calamari served with Sambal Aioli and lime. The calamari was tender and crispy. The Aioli had a nice kick to it. Now to why I'm giving Sur Beach House four stars..... It came time to pay our check. Renzo brings it to me but it wasn't an itemized receipt. My fault for not asking for one but in my many travels in Mexico I've never had to ask for one. All I got was a small receipt with a total of $284.28. Renzo asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. Again, my fault for not asking for an itemized receipt. I told him to add 20%. That brought the total to $341.13. After I signed the credit card receipt my wife questioned the charges. We started looking at the menu, converting Pesos to U.S. Dollars and arguing quite a bit. Making a good day turn bad. When we left we asked the hostess for an itemized receipt. It turns out the tip was already added to the $284.28. I'm a good tipper. In fact, I over tip. Especially for great service which we did receive from Renzo but for him to not a.) give me an itemized receipt, and b.) not tell me the tip was already included was incredibly upsetting. Had he been honest and said the tip was included I would have actually tipped him more. The service we received from Renzo was that good. The hostess ended up reversing the $341.13 and charging the $284.28. She provided us with a receipt showing the reversal.

Went during slower season. Staff was phenomenal, and drinks tasty. View and vibes were overall good. Oysters weren't my favorite but still tasty, and the red snapper was divine.

Great passion fruit mocktail and view but those were the only things impressive about the place. Calamari was all breading.

Not an experience nothing special about the place nothing like the other locations this location is very bland and the prices would be ok if the restaurant was more elevated , but left me unsatisfied.

Lovely place to watch the boats come and go at Medina. The owner is a great guy na d his staff is first rate. I asked how many employees he has and he said just over 300 in his three businesses. Crazy but they are all solid and will take care of you. The saxophone artist was awesome and played along with the house music for a nice twist.

Salmon truffle roll and salmon nigiri.

Over the course of my week-long solo trip to Cabo, I had the pleasure of dining at SUR Beach House three times, so I wanted to share my experience. To start, the customer service was impeccable. I arrived without a reservation and was still seated promptly, even during peak season. The fact that they accommodated me on New Year's Day without a reservation speaks volumes about their dedication to excellent service. My server was fantastic! He spoke Spanish with me, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always poured me more Fiji Water to keep my hydrated as the restaurant is outdoors. He even remembered my name during my subsequent visits--a thoughtful touch that made me feel welcome. For drinks, I tried the Aperol Spritz and the Jamaica mezcalita cocktail. Both were strong. The mezcal drink stood out--especially with the sage they burned for New Year's. It was a cool and memorable! I'm a sushi fiend, hence why I ate here three days in a row for lunch. It was their salmon truffle roll that became my obsession and kept me coming back. Trust me, do yourself a favor and order it. Be warned--you might end up ordering two back-to-back like I did! I'm not usually a fan of tempura or shrimp, but I still find myself thinking about that roll TO THIS DAY. Hands down, it was the best thing I ate in Cabo that week. I also tried the Lydia Roll, which was decent but a bit heavy on the soy sauce for my taste. Beyond the food, the overall vibe of SUR Beach House was exceptional. The house music, stunning ocean view, and upscale yet relaxed atmosphere made every visit special. There is a lunch area where a large group gathered to watch an American Football game! What a fun afternoon. When I think back to how I spent New Year's Day 2025, I can't help but smile. Sitting in their white-and-wood high-top chairs, enjoying the salmon truffle sushi, soaking in the view, and vibing to the music made for an unforgettable experience. Only negative: I paid $81.33 USD for a lunch.... I had two drinks and two sushi rolls. This is not Nobu. They charge that because they can.

Laurel Z.

The best spot to dine or relax on the beach! The food is incredible and you have a choice of dining inside the restaurant, on their terrace or in one of their comfortable seating options on the beach itself with towels provided and umbrellas for shade if desired. The service is top notch and very friendly! The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

I was confused when I got there - the website shows an overview of the ocean and their beach house - which is on the beach, but the actual hotel is a few blocks inward. They offer a golf cart ride down the street to drop you off. When you are at the beach house you let them know you're staying with the Bahia and entitled to certain discounts. So the staff is attentive and courteous. The pool looks good but it was primarily empty. The food looked good - we had breakfast there and it was very good. The beach house has an open area to sit down inside with shade, and there's a small sectioned off area on the beach in the sand. You get waitstaff to get drinks for you. At times it can get really crowded, but then again it was busy there - right after Spring Break. It is quite loud and noisy there - with music and crowds. The rooms - were very nice. The bed was king, it was firm, it was comfortable, it was clean. There was also an extra small bed aside for guests - we never used it. It is spacious. The bathrooms were nice and clean too. The doors are heavy and secure, so make sure when you leave they are completely closed and locked because one night we thought so - but it did not latch. We came back and the door was open, we freaked out, but all was good and safe. We were lucky. Just make sure the door is secure and latched and you'll be fine. But overall I thought this place was great and I would recommend them. The rooms are very nice and clean. Staff was accommodating. If you're okay with it not being exactly on the beach then you'll be fine here.

While the theft itself was extremely concerning, the most disappointing part of our experience was the response from front desk staff and management. Rather than demonstrating urgency, empathy, or accountability, we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong. Our concerns were not taken seriously, and there was little effort to investigate, provide reassurance, or offer any meaningful resolution. Due to the lack of trust that followed, we no longer felt comfortable allowing staff into our room and declined housekeeping for the remainder of our 4-night stay. This significantly impacted our comfort and overall experience. For a property of this caliber, both the incident and its handling fell far below expectations. This experience left a lasting negative impression and raises serious concerns about guest safety and how such situations are managed. We would strongly encourage management to take this matter seriously and address both the incident and their response to it, as it significantly impacts guest trust and safety.

We heard nothing but raving reviews from our guests about the rooms and cleanliness of the entire resort. I already had family and friends asking when we can come back for our anniversaries lol. Now for our wedding: The planning through Casa Dorada's wedding coordinator, Katherine Anaya, was seamless and so easy. I can't express enough how amazing she was to handle everything for my husband and I since we are from California. The location of the resort is perfectly on the beach with nearby bars and restaurants. Yes you can hear the music from the bars but it stops at 9:30/10pm. Didn't hear any complaints from any of ours guests (ages 25-83). The wedding ceremony and reception was at the 12 Tribes Terrace and they really transformed the atmosphere to be exactly how I envisioned the wedding! If you're hesitant about doing a destination wedding in Cabo, I researched about 20 resorts and landed on Casa Dorada because of the value, location and how beautiful the resort looks. We are so happy with how our wedding came out and how amazing the staff is at this resort. We want to highlight our amazing wedding planner (through the resort) Katherine Anaya who handled everything for us and made sure the whole wedding experience was stress free and seamless for us. Her first impression through email with me truly made me feel her hospitality and kindness. Meeting her in person for our pre-wedding trip January 2026 just solidified that we have an amazing person helping create our wedding vision and bring it to life! She even went as far as having a custom wedding slideshow playing in our hotel room that had our pictures from our wedding website. The attention to detail Katherine gives is beyond what I could've ever imagined from anyone! Another person I want to mention was Rene at the 12 Tribes Restaurant. We met him during our pre-wedding trip and he handled everything with ease for our signature His/Her drinks and our food tasting samples. Right away his great hospitality and kind spirit could immediately be seen and felt. For our wedding in April 2026, Rene remembered us and gave nothing short of excellent service during our entire wedding week when we saw him or ate at the 12 Tribes restaurant. Rene was actually a server during our wedding and was making sure everything was going smoothly and made sure we felt at home. Two more people who are worth mentioning: Heriberto at the swim-up bar and Michele at the B Bar. Two awesome people who love what they do. They remembered us each time we came back to them. They remembered our drink orders and truly made us feel like family there. If you're thinking about a wedding at Casa Dorada, my advice to you is do it and you won't regret it. It truly felt like our home away from home. Muchas gracias Casa Dorada!!! We will definitely be back! This isn't goodbye, but see you soon!!

He told me that we WOULD get to know each other. He pushed his phone to me with his Instagram. It was full of pictures of naked women. I went to the host desk. The man (Ryan) left with his bottle of wine. Security escorted me to my room. I saw him waving from the balcony of a room above mine, very near. I asked to be moved. I was frightened. They changed my room, but I did not sleep the entire night. The next morning, I spoke to the manager, Francisco Escuer. He told me: "I watched the tape, you were talking to the man and smiling. You smiled at the host stand. Why were you smiling if you were asking for help to get away from that guy?" I said, "Because he was coming after me, and that's what women do, so we don't aggravate men we know are dangerous." He said, "Well, his girlfriend didn't report anything." Again, I said: "Women don't report abusers because they are not believed, just like you are not believing me." Escuer also screamed at me and accused me of recording our conversation. He made physical gestures toward me during this. I told him I needed the tape, his information and the hotel's information. He refused to give me anything and yelled at me. I had to check out, pay for that stay, and another hotel. Escuer/the hotel are not safe for women.

Check-In Experience As soon as we stepped out of the car, multiple staff members greeted us warmly. Another staff member completed our check-in -- we never had to visit the front desk. We simply handed over our passports and credit card, and everything was taken care of. Room & Upgrade As Hilton Diamond members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to 2 Bedroom Resort Casita with Plunge Pool without even asking. ‍ All rooms in this hotel have its own private pool. While the view wasn't the best (we could see the family pool rather than a clear ocean view), the villa itself was huge and very comfortable. Full kitchen, washer, and dryer made the stay extremely convenient. Even the bathroom tissues were scented -- a small but thoughtful detail! Things to Improve * Slippers were not very comfortable * Pillows were very soft -- great if you like soft pillows, but if you prefer firmer/high pillows, you may need to request extras * Didn't see cotton pads or cotton swabs in the room (probably available upon request) * Wi-Fi connection was unstable at times Overall Despite a few small drawbacks, the service, upgrade, and villa experience made this stay very memorable. The personalized check-in and Diamond recognition truly stood out.

My friend was able to get her screen fixed and sent her a copy of the receipt. She has not responded and messages are going green, as if she is blocked. She tried to make up for the damages with her service, and i appreciate her efforts but her lack of acknowledgment of the damages done to my friends property and lying about following up to take care of the situation is disheartening. Management seemed to not care which was also interesting, i understand backing your employees but the level of professionalism and customer service experienced was distasteful.

The positives: The food and service were particularly good; they have a Michelin rated restaurant, Manta, on site, which has a 5 course tasting menu I recommend trying. We actually tried every food option (rooftop bar for dinner, pool bar for apps, Sunken Living Room for breakfast/dinner, The Ledge for breakfast/dinner, Manta for dinner) and found them all to be distinct in their own right but uniformly quite good. Most memorable items were the tofu salad at the Rooftop bar, the rice chips at Manta and the tempura fish tacos. Prices are pretty expensive, similar to CA Bay Area pricing. There are 2 pools and the beach immediately in front of the hotel was very nice (lots of surfers!). Some rooms also included plunge pools! The negative: the only issue we had was the constant loud music - from the pool bar during the day and from the rooftop bar at night. I wore earplugs the entire trip to dull the high decibels. The loudness seemed unnecessary to create fun atmosphere as it was deafening. Nevertheless, we would stay again if we are in the area. Though I strongly prefer the Costa Palmas area of Cabo more. Tip: Thompson is part of World of Hyatt; Globalists receive daily free breakfast that runs to 11:30am, which helped reduced food costs somewhat.

The gym is amazing, they have this awesome stretching machine in there as well as pilates equipment. I would stay here again without hesitation. I could keep going on honestly but the last thing I'll say is this place feels romantic so if you're looking to get away with your partner this is the perfect place. Cheers

BUT......Esperanza is on a different level and if you have the means....by all means I HIGHLY recommend staying here. The ocean view suites are stunning with amazing views. Service is the finest you will find. You have your own concierge who knows you when you arrive. Everyone there is friendly and wants to make your stay the best. Location is the best. The beach is great to swim. The pools are great. The restaurants offer varied options....although we only ate at one and it reminded me of a Luau. Gold courses close by. Pickleball and Tennis courts. Basketball courts. Great gym and spa. With so many options and so many new places popping up...I think Esperanza still is the tops with it's gorgeous grounds and stunning service.
