Somewhere central so you didn't have to get in your car everytime you needed a loaf of bread or some oranges. So congratulations to Waitrose for meeting that need. It took Waitrose a while to settle into their market. For a while, they tried to be more like a deli, with little discounting and not many customers doing a weekly shop. Either the credit crunch or a sensible reappraisal led them to introduce price commitments and reductions. While not there yet, I am sure what all local residents really want is Waitrose quality at Tesco prices, and if that's how we keep buying maybe Waitrose will start to provide.

Also loved that this store really gives back to the communities, listing its 3 local charitable groups that it provides funds to, and encourages shoppers to do so as well.

Even better was their entire aisle (yes, a WHOLE AISLE) for 'free from' food which forced me to accept the fact that I'm a gimmicky salespersons wet dream as I walked out with a box of Gorrilla Crunch cereal just because it had a gorrilla on the front....the fact that about half the money per box goes to the rainforest was something of an after thought.
