Am I really reviewing a Tesco?! Yes...well, I've done it before so why not again?! I must've been in this particular Tesco even more than my own, local one...whenever I am down to visit my family this is the closest and biggest food shop/supermarket to hand so we often find ourselves nipping in here for a few bits and bobs.
I am one of those odd people that actually really LIKES and ENJOYS just wandering around a supermarket...what can I say?! I like checking out the new items and produce in store and looking at what bargains they have on offer. I find it very relaxing and comforting, which is strange when as I a child you would have had to drag me kicking and screaming to get me inside a (dreaded) supermarket! Oh how we change. Anyway I digress (I do that a lot), this particular Tesco store is pretty well stocked and I always find quite a few produce items in this store that I can't find in others.
They have a HUGE pet (food/goodies/items) section in here which tells me that people of Kings Lynn like their animals :-) Also they have a great Bakery and stock cupboard item aisles too. There's a clothes section, a electrical goods section and also some household goods/kitchenware is stocked too.
My Mum shops here all the time and I know she says the staff are very friendly although I have had a couple of run-ins with some check-out staff, hence the 3, not 4 stars. They are VERY strict in here on their alcohol policy...TOO strict as when myself & my boyfriend went to buy a bottle of wine for dinner one day we were asked for ID, which is fair enough (we're both WAY over 18 {and 25 for that matter} but we do get ID'ed all the time...it's a blessing really!) and my boyfriend showed his ID but that wasn't enough for them as they then proceeded to ask me for ID (which I do now carry, but it's only valid in Scotland!) which I didn't have on me...he stated why did I need ID when HE was buying the alcohol and they said 'Well, how do we know you're not buying it for her?!' looking at me as though I was some young hooligan, about to drink myself silly on White Zinfandel on the corner of the street! The cheek! So the long & short of it was they refused to sell us the wine. We asked to speak to the manager but that got us no further. So we left the wine and the rest of our groceries too in protest. Bah! Never heard of a place requiring TWO forms of ID to buy alcohol?! Daft.
So, yes, some of the staff (possibly most...)are really lovely but some are not so. So be warned if you plan to come in here with your darn youthful looks to buy some booze coz you might just go away empty handed (unless you carry ID on you). Tesco, you meany. read more
