They go the extra mile by giving good customer service, having a cash point and photocopying and faxing service (even though nobody uses fax much these days) The Items are well priced and I think in many cases they beat the supermarket prices. This is more common in the fruit and veg section. However they don't have a wide choice of products as their products are just the basic. If Select Xpress was closer to where I live I'd definitely be going here more often.

In addition to the varied stock here, there are usually some bargains: 1.5 litre bottles of Diet Pepsi for 99p last time we visited. Highly recommended. It says something about the range and diversity of goods here that the entire village seemed to be in the store when Tesco was closed for refurbishment.

Never mind I thought! I returned to the shop today on one of my twice weekly visits, only to be approached by the very rude and clearly gready owner asking me for £1 yes you read that correctly the owner of the shop felt it fit to ask me for the money for the split milk that he believed to be my fault. I have been in a couple of times when I have been in Harborne. The chap who works there or who owns it seems really friendly and chatty. Several times he has made small talk with me, which is nice as it makes me want to pop back in here. I have always found what I needed in here, which is usually just some chocolate and something like milk to take back home. The prices are fairly reasonable for a convenience store and I have been to more expensive stores in the area. Open from early morning until at least 10pm every night this isn't somewhere you'd travel miles to visit but if you live nearby it's a great place to purchase things like compost or barbeque briquettes. They are also notable for stocking a good range of real-ales, an extensive selection of doggie treats (which get the seal of approval from Dave the greyhound) and the man who runs it is a really nice chap who often compliments us on how well Dave is looking and very much lives by the adage 'the show must go on'. If you find that your first choice of shop/supermarket is closed be sure to always give this place a go.
