According to the locals, this is a bigger store than the regular ones. If I get a chance to visit a regular store, I'll confirm, lol. This one does have 2 levels, and you can take the lift (elevator) or the escaltors escalators. The escalator going down wasn't working the times I've been, but just walk down anyway. They have cashiers for check out as well as self check-out lanes. Prices here are awesome! I'm a huge fan of their bakery bread and the snacks. Their sparkling water game is pretty strong, too. Don't be shocked if I check in here again, lol!

If you're around Liverpool, Tesco's of all versions are dotted around places: metro, local, express, superstore. If there are any more, you'll have to let me know! The Liverpool One branch of Superstore is not actually the most super I have come across in Liverpool as there is one in Litherland which is gargantuan in comparison. However, Liverpool One Tesco is certainly what the town needs. You still have plenty of choice here, a variety of sections such as deli, clothes and international foods to keep you adding more to your basket! I find this place more of a relaxing and enjoyable shopping experience as opposed to the Metro version by the big screen, because its more spacious and offers an abundance of products. The location isn't great if you're driving there as it'll cost you pounds to park somewhere nearby but certainly convenient when you have other chores to do around town.

    Tesco - It's orange-y & cakey, not "Twix-y" like I thought! Good, though!

This store is a fairly small size, as is most Marks and Spencer Simply Food stores, such as branches closer to me in Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria train stations. This branch is slightly old-fashioned in parts, and perhaps in need of refurb, in some parts, the store also feels like a tight squeeze to get around. The staff didn't seem too friendly on my visit, yet the store seemed a little busier, perhaps it could have been down to the time of my visit, being slightly late on a weekday, where staff might be tired from rush-hour and wanting to go home from work, but still this isn't an excuse for service to lack. The selection was average, it wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad either. Due to the overall feel of the store being slightly poor for me, and other issues mentioned I don't feel this store deserves a high rating, but due to the fact of the quality of some products sold here, despite the slightly higher price-tag, it makes it one of the better places to get quick food in the Train Station to take on a train with you, it is also worth noting this is a train station without brands such as Starbucks, with the only main coffee shop being a stand from Caffe Nero, so I feel this store deserves a two-star rating.

It's a pleasant change from a boots meal deal if you're looking for lunch as there is a better selection here and the food is much better quality. They sell a range of sandwiches, baguettes and pastas in their lunch section, along with a range of M and S crisps and drinks. They also have part of the shop devoted to tea time meals and often have deals on. As I said, it's perfect if you've got off the train and can't be bothered cooking anything from fresh when you get home, as it's all here. The prices are slightly over average for what you'd pay in a supermarket, but this is reflected in the quality of the food. The shop always has a few tills open to avoid queues for those that are rushing to catch a train.

The store inside isn't as modern as other Sainsbury's Local stores in city centres or even railway stations (compare to Manchester Piccadilly), but it gets the job done... well sort of. Selection of most items was small, especially the Free From section which was pretty much non-existent. Staff around the store didn't seem too helpful, I was told they didn't have a particular item, they didn't make as much effort as other stores have in the past to help me find it, taking one glance and just saying no, which was disappointing on both levels of service and stock. Location wise it is convenient if you are getting the train to get something for your journey or to take home, while not being the nicest convenience store in terms of overall feel and stock apart from that, considering service factors too which let the store down, I feel only a two-star rating saves it, which is mainly for providing a basic level of services to serve Liverpool Central station.

If you are like me living in the moment, or as some would say the last minute, then the opportunity to fuel up right now or buy your evening meal on the way home can be fundamental to your function. What is really good in Central Station Sainsburys is the surprising range of fresh food which amongst the fast food options give you a real choice to be healthy and cook up your evening repast from scratch. When I am feeling a bit inspired I will do just that with my favourite feasts. I confess there are times when the comfort of convenience food is just too tempting and a microwave cannelloni and a prepared salad is about as adventurous as I can manage. There are many manifestations of convenience and we all recognize that if we were perfect people with a thought and a plan perhaps stops like a Sainsburys at a station would have short and inglorious lives. Good news for Sainsburys though that, for me at least, no such carefully thought out planning has yet emerged.

There is always an excellent mix of stall here selling produce such as sweets, plants, coffee, cheeses, specialist sausages, specialist meats, beers, smoothies, cakes, black & white pudding and much much more. Many of the stalls have free samples to try and the smell that emits from the market is delicious. The produce on sale is often more expensive than you would find in supermarkets but this is to be expected. The produce is of an excellent quality and you wont find many of the specialist items in supermarkets at all. This is a great addition to the Lark Lane community.

Drinkers mill about with students - presuming there's a difference between the two - and "dedicated followers of fashion". What a perfect place for a farmers market. This market, held on the last Saturday of every month, is bigger than its counterpart in Woolton Village, although it does suffer slightly in comparison as half of it is on the edge of busy Aigburth road. A great plant stall selling lovely and unusual bushes at very decent prices greets those who enter the market from Lark Lane. The kind of stall Woolton is missing out on. There's myriad cake and bakery stalls selling pasties, pies, pastries and bread and the ever present Savin Hill Farm meat stall, which sells sausages presumably butchered in Heaven. Last time I went, today (28 August), there was a fantastic flower stall with some of the sunniest sunflower bouquets I've ever seen for a mere £3. A very good place to visit every now and again, but it rarely changes, which is a shame.
