Our family has a history here too as Gayle's Parents stayed here years ago, and one of the couples that operates the Guest House stayed with them when they visited the United States and Canada. So of course, the Lida Guest House would be Gayle and my first choice as a place to stay in Prague. The Guest House is located in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood, yet a convenient walking distance to the Vyšehrad Castle or trolley ride to central Prague. Actually we walked that distance as well and enjoyed the scenery and exercise along the way. The the main part of the Guest House is an Art Nouveau building constructed in 1922. The family has added on a 2-story modern wing where Gayle and I stayed. There's also a small private garden, the dining room area, and a small common space that contains a PC. The Lida Guest House has good WiFi, is Non-Smoking, and is Cash Only. Gayle and I didn't have any trouble paying our bill in Korunas, as this place is very reasonably priced and ATM are readily accessible throughout the City. They also simply added the extras that they prepaid (transportation, reservations, etc.) to the final tally. Gayle and I had a nice stay. Our room was nice and comfortable, and with plenty of space to stretch out and hang out. Our breakfast was tasty and generous, and it was fun comparing notes with fellow travelers. They also maintained a selection of snacks, including beer and wine, which we could access at any hour. What we appreciated most about our stay was what I call our personal concierge service by family members. What to see a concert at the Spanish Synagogue? We'll book it for you. Need a train pass? Here's one. Need a Lunch recommendation? No problem. They also picked us up at the train station and dropped us off when we were ready to travel on to Vienna. It's a great feeling to be an independent tourist, but at the same time knowing someone has your back.

Hotel at the Big Boot - Looking out the window towards the German Embassy

It's housed in a 17th century home that spans several floors of rooms, offering all the old world charm you'd expect with lots of modern conveniences tossed in. The owner/operators and their staff are extremely friendly and exceedingly helpful. They arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport to relieve the pressure of navigating cabs in a foreign language within minutes of arrival. Upon arrival, we were welcomed, checked in and escorted to our amazing room within minutes. The room featured two windows surrounded by vines and flowers that opened to overlook the square below and the German Embassy. The furniture was older, but extremely comfortable. The bathroom was refurbished with modern fixtures, including a nice glass shower and rain shower head. Breakfast each morning was an informal affair with the staff spending time with each guest. The offerings included cereals, pastries and other items on the table, as well as cooked-to-order eggs and breakfast meats. There was lots of coffee and juice as well. Overall, a wonderful breakfast option until we learned our way around. The staff helped with tour bookings, cabs, restaurant recommendations and reservations and even some cultural conversation over a glass of wine on a cold, rainy night. When we were ready to depart, they arranged for a car to take us to the train station and offered water and fruit for the trip. We can only categorize our stay at House at the Big Boot as wonderful and would recommend this hotel to anyone without reservations.

The check-in/out was done in the same building which was very convenient. The apartment was on the 4th floor and was huge by any standard, with separate bedroom, separate huge kitchen cum dining room, separate living room, separate bathroom, separate washing machine room, and a separate foyer. We hardly used the living room since we preferred to use the dinning table as a work area, planning our next day's itinerary. The apartment was clean and bright and had all the amenities. There were countless lights everywhere. The shower had good pressure and flow and the hot and cold water regulation was easy and efficient. One thing lacking though was the closet space in the bedroom. But we made do with the one in the foyer. The bed was firm and supportive to our liking, although Pillows were too soft. The apartment was serviced everyday although they changed the towels every two days. The bedroom was located away from the main road and was very quiet. In fact, the building location was in a quiet part of the town but was close enough to the major attractions in the old town area. On foot, 8 mins to old town square, 16 mins to Powder tower, 12 mins to Charle Bridge. There are several small and cosy restaurants nearby the apartments which remained open late till the nights. There are two mini-markets nearby which provided all our basic breakfast needs. The apartment provided complimentary coffee capsules (expresso machine provided), sugar and tea bags of various favors. All in all we had a very satisfying stay in the apartment. We shall definitely stay in this apartment again on our next visit.

We choose vacation rental apartments, and have stayed in them across the USA and in 4 other countries. PCA is the best group of people we have ever worked with, hands down!. They rent quite a few places in Prague, so email them with what you are looking for( how many will sleep there, balcony, extra quiet area, location, etc),and they will find you the perfect spot. Residence Masna was a block from Old Town Square(best place to stay, for us, close to everything), yet on a quiet street, and close to many of the small restaurants, bars and stores, found in this area. It is a 5 minute walk from a great market for souveniers, fruit and more, and less than 10 minutes' walk to the subway station and the grocery store, drug store, and mall that is located there, too. The apartment was spacious, so clean and very comfortable. Wifi was included in the great price, and also daily maid servicem which we have never had, at a vacation rental of this kind. It is safe and secure, and on the inner courtyard. We could open our windows in the morning, and enjoy fresh air ,as we had our coffee and breakfast. With a full kitchen, coffee maker, fridge, microwave and oven, it was so easy to have a snack, or glass of wine, at night, too. The building is 17th Century, but has been totally refurbished, yet they kept so much of the original charm. Loved the hardwood floors, marble bathroom and great shower, and even had a washing machine. Beds were comfortable, with quality, cozy bedding. I would suggest using their airport transfers, as the drivers were waiting for us with a sign, after Immigrations at the airport; the cars were large and clean, and the drivers were friendly and helpful. The cost was about $17.00. When we arrived, the driver took us to the PCA office, which is in Josefov, waited for us, and then a PCA staff member came to the rental With us, to show us around. 110% customer service!! A few days later, we walked the 7 minutes to the office, to print our boarding passes. Communication with PCA is beyond rapid, and I never waited long for a reply, even though there is a 7 hour time difference, in the States. Every staff member we met, everyone I emailed with, was ready to help me with anything; nothing too large or small; they will do their best! Amazing staff, immaculate properties, and comfort makes your stay in this beautiful city even better. Book Now!!
