But its not good because something serious happened. We , my spouse and I got surprised by a flash flood on Friday 23/08/2016 we where surrounded by a river within minutes after the rain started. The car died as I tried to manoeuvre my way out of this sin flood. Had it not been for a strong truck that moved me to safety my wife and our two dogs all panic stricken would have died of a heart attack. As the car did not start and the battery old I bought a battery next day and installed it. No success. I subsequently had it towed to Vamsa Nissan in Mazatlan.Where it was diagnosed to have water in the motor and asked if I had any insurance for mexico that would cover the cost. Yes , indeed it dawned on me, I had bought an insurance policy from Don Smith covering such events but since I thought it was my battery I didn't think big and call in the claim . But it was and is a big deal. The insurance adjuster told me since the car was moved from where the incident occurred I was not eligible for coverage. I even have Photos of the water surrounding the car. and the testament of a seasoned mechanic pointing out the water to he adjuster Figure that, I didn't even know I had been damaged to such an extend and had it not been for the truck that pushed me out of the water I might still be stranded. Remember its Mexico, not Canada. Thereafter I called the office of Don Smith where a clerk told me that Don would get back to me writing to my email. Jwolferl@gmail.com. I am still stranded here in Mazatlan and there is no help from Don's office not even an email to suggest help. I can't believe what happened here under the guidance of an expert

So I decided to go with Ms López. I have been with them for about 2 years now and to this day, I have never met the woman. Ms Aguirre has always attended me, and she has always been gracious and cordial with me. This morning I had a letter from ADOT dated from 2 weeks ago that my insurance had lapsed and my vehicle registration was about to be revoked. Unhappily I wanted to learn why since I always make my insurance payments with my credit card on "automatic pay." Turns out that no payments had been made since December. I knew not since I have a busy schedule and I only know when payments have not been made when the telephone company or the water company or the electricity company inform me. State Farm NEVER informed me. They just dropped me. I was dropped because I received a new credit card, of which, I DID make the changes online. But because a payment had not posted as it should, the following month's payment, and succeeding ones, were NEVER charged. And I was just dropped. No e-mail, no snail mail, no telephone call, nothing. I will be actively seeking a new insurer because perhaps the local agent's employees have been cordial with me, corporate has not. If you deal with them, caveat emptor.
