Kids Are Being SA at Terra Vista Elementary -- Get OUT NOW! I wrote about this a year ago when I pulled my kid out of Terra Vista Elementary because of serious red flags -- a complete lack of cultural awareness and horrifying reports that children were being SA at the school. Now they're in court, and the attorney has filed an affirmative defense, which, in plain terms, means even if they're not denying it happened -- they're blaming children as young as 3 and 4 years old. This is beyond disturbing. Google is now hiding reviews of the school, but I've reposted the one I made last year right here. Even more concerning: the school is now requiring only Black children to check in -- this is discriminatory, period. My wife and I raised concerns about their cultural insensitivity long ago, and their "solution" was to paint a mural. So if the mural is still up, credit to my wife -- but a mural doesn't fix systemic neglect. I'm sharing this to spread awareness. To the families affected by this: I am deeply sorry. My brother hated and refused to go to school when he was only in preschool because of the kids and a teacher. Yes, the school is great education wise, I went there myself, but I have heard many stories where things were let on when they should've been addressed. Stories where kids were clearly uncomfortable but not atoned personally with. Unless you benefit staff or make them look good, their hearts will unfortunately not be there with you. My mother went to the superintendent office after she heard my brother being bullied because of uncooperativeness, but regardless, I hope the morals of staff continue to grow. I was a student at this school 15 years ago, sad to see it's still the same with staff not actually caring about students.

Do not attend this school unless you want you're life to be threatened on campus. These "staff members" sit by and let horrible incidents happen that almost cost the lives of our children. Something needs to change. if you're thinking about putting your child in school do yourself a favor and avoid this school. read more

My kids love this school. Overall, I like the vibes and the teachers they've had. You can tell the principal takes a lot of pride in the school. The only area that I think can use improvement is the front office staff. They're consistently moody and make you feel like you're burdening them. Maybe it's time to retire. read more

Terra Vista has become a second home to me. My children are cared for in such a holistic way. The administration doesn't just look to educate our kids they really invest their time and energy with heartfelt passion. They want to see our kids grow and be confident children. I have been given so many opportunities as a parent to be involved in my kids education and to be involved in so many fun activities at the school. It is my oldest last year at Terra Vista and I know he will move up to be a successful citizen with so many wonderful memories of his time at Terra Vista. I wish I could give a couple of shout outs to individual Staff, Teachers and Administration but I would inevitably miss someone so I will say as a whole to everyone at Terra Vista Elementary, thank you, thank you, thank you!! read more

I came here to enroll my sons into this school. My biological son no problem but my stepson huge first the principal didn't believe that my husband signed my stepsons papers and asked to see him to verify everything. Also my step son is in IEP and just that alone he seemed singled out the principal and I quote said "he is a troubled child" She has never met him nor talked to him judging a book by its cover. Don't assume anything and she didn't even have the right to say that about him. I was so upset that I just decided the school was not the best fit for them they deserve a school that will treat them with respect. read more

Terra Vista is a great place for students!! The faculty is wonderful for the students especially the RSP staff. They genuinely have the best intentions for every one of the students and they want each student to do their best and be successful!! Awesome school!! read more

We love Terra Vista Elementary! We have sent our 5 children to this amazing school. Mrs. Tavolazzy ( our principal today) is very involved with students and parents. The administration are the nicest people ever. Our school does so many activities and programs during the year. My kid is enrolled n a pre-school class taught by Mrs.T, Room H1. The teacher is awesome. The class is great. The hugest concern is that there is NO PARKING at all. The school would close all the entrances for parking from all sides and there is a very limited space on the street. The front office ladies are pretty strict and serious, no smiles when they greet you. The office is really hidden and you need to figure out how to get out from the school once you are inside the maze. :) So I'd give only 3 stars for the school, but 5 for the Mrs.T's class! read more

Wow! What can I say! This has been a wonderful year here at Terra Vista. The kids are great and best of all the faculty and staff really are a great big family. Over the past 4 years this school has continued to get better and better. It has earned the California Gold Ribbon for its outstanding academics. My son has an IEP and was singled out as a problem at this school. He is by no means an angel, but I am an active parent who is myself an educator who holds a MaT in Best Practices in Education. I could write a dissertation on areas that need improvement at Terra Vista. My child was taunted for being a resource student, called "gay," and ultimately physically attacked by students who's only consequence was to miss recess. Did I mention he receive the same consequence as his attackers for splashing water on them after the first attack?! He did not have the intellectual capacity to defend himself from students who were manipulative, mean, and malicious. He was accused of many infractions and spoken to in ways that I would never dream of at my school setting. His rights were violated. He now hates school and we are relocating to home-school him. We can only pray to correct the damage this has done on his trust and confidence. The price we paid to live in that neighborhood was not worth the school. Unless your child is educationally gifted, talented, has high state testing scores, no learning deficits or needs, or is bright complected, steer clear. There was no way I was going to allow my first-grader to go through what my son endured. I thank God for his teacher this year. She tried her very best to help my son. She was caught between a rock and a hard space. This school system, spearheaded by the VP, was noxious to my child. read more

I send both my kids to Terra Vista. I LOVE this school. The teachers are amazing. They are knowledgeable and REALLY care about their students. The administration is fantastic! Most mornings and afternoons you'll see the principal and vice principal outside greeting the kids and they know their names and what's going on with them. They really care too. I just love our school. Oh and Terra Vista is one of the highest achieving schools in Etiwanda SD which is one of the highest achieving school districts in the state of CA! Today I woke up feeling very grateful, and wanted to stop by to write a review. This past week my whole family had been hit with the flu, this included my 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son. My daughter pushed through her sickness last night and really wanted to go to her ballet recital, sadly no family members could go see it. However her teacher Miss Burke showed up, and joined me, this is what Terra Vista is all about!!! Terra vista teachers become more than that, they become family friends and even substitute for family on these special events. This is not rare of our teachers to do, last year her other teacher also saw her recital. My 10 year old son also has had Mrs. Tavill (his former teacher) show up on a Saturday afternoon to his soccer game! Thank You Terra Vista Elementary, thank you for all that you do! Everyone here from campus support, office staff, nurses, speech therapist, principal and assistant principal have made this school extra special!!! read more
