I'm normally a pretty smart guy, but for some reason, as i approached 69, and had to get off of my wife's medical insurance, i had no clue on how to sign up for Medicare. I was previously a licensed insurance broker, albeit many years ago. With that being said, I was confident that I could navigate the Medicare system and decide what type of coverage would be best for me. I was mistaken. I was left wondering if I was making the right decision for my needs. I am turning 65 in August and I needed to sign up for Medicare. I originally contacted a broker recommended to me by a friend. Teresa is absolutely wonderful. My mother in law was completely lost with understanding her Medicare and Medi-Cal insurance options and was overpaying for coverage she did not need. Teresa did a consultation with her and got her onto a plan that met her needs but was very affordable. She also had parts of her Medicare coverage cancelled due to an old penalty issue that we did not even know existed. Teresa figured this out really quickly, found the root cause and even called my mother in law to go through the appeal paperwork to try and get this resolved as quickly as possible. She talked my husband and I into Medicare Advantage, despite my having asked her specific questions to which she provided vague, incomplete answers. Her email responses, were incomprehensible. Yes, agents get much more money for signing people up to Medicare Advantage. She did not answer my question about different amounts agents get for different plans her customers choose. People have the birthday rule in California but what she failed to tell us was that you can only trade down to a policy of lesser value. I don't believe it's so easy to ever get out of Medicare Advantage. Do your research and don't sign up at the first meeting. read more

I feel extremely fortunate finding Teresa, she helped navigate changing a Medicare Advantage plan to one more appropriate for my 88 year old Mother. I've tried reaching out to other consultants in the Orange County region, particularly Costa Mesa, without a whole lot of success.
