Okay, so I didn't give this business 5 stars, only because I hate going to the dentist...but my…read morerecent dental experience here was really good. So first off, I asked my wife what dentist we use because I have had a tooth ache for three days now, and she says "Paxton dentists." Okay so I look in the phone book and call them up, because my tooth hurts pretty bad and when they answer, I tell the woman who answers the phone I have a tooth ache and is there any way they can get me in today. And she says, "Can you get here by 11 Honey?" I like it when the girl on the phone calls me Honey...it kind of reminds me of my Mom, and so I said, "I'll be there." She asked if I had been there before and I said, no but my wife has...because as I said, I hate the dentist, so I don't go a lot. So I plug the address into my phone GPS and its located at 852 S 16th Street, Harrisburg, PA, and I drive over. As I get close I am thinking, "is this an okay neighborhood?" But as I pull up I think, I guess it's an okay neighborhood and the building looks nice. So I go in and the woman who I spoke to on the phone who called me "Honey" is sitting at the front desk, and she looks just like my Mom, except that she is black and my mom was white and she is a little bigger than my Mom was (in certain areas), but I just want to go over to her and put my arms around her and get a big (and I mean big) hug from her because I am a little nervous about being in the dentist's office and this woman just looks like she would be good to hug! So I fill out the necessary paperwork including the form where you tell them who is your next of kin in case you die in the chair, and then in minutes, I am sitting in the chair and a nice guy comes in who looks like he may be in his late 50's or early 60's introduces himself as Dr. Patel and then he takes an x-ray of my tooth and in a few minutes he is showing me that a filling I had when I was a kid is cracked, and there's a little decay. I ask him if I am going to need a root canal, because I had one of those about 30 years ago and it was the worst pain I have ever had in my life. In fact, I think we should do away with water-boarding and just give terrorists root canals and they will give up any secrets they know. Dr. Patel says he likes to take the conservative approach first and we'll see how that goes and so he's going to drill (Ouch!) out the old filling and any additional decay and put a new filling in (and I will feel like I just got a root canal even though I didn't. because I have never had a cavity filled, with the Novocain, that I could not still feel the pain right down through my jaw all the way to my toes). So Dr. Patel starts sticking me in the gums with a needle that looks like a prop from an old horror movie, and in a few minutes, I am drooling all over the front of myself. Then Dr. Patel starts to drill and I'm thinking, "hey wait a minute, something must be wrong" or "he must not be doing this correctly" because I am feeling no pain???? And I have to say, that is the first time in my 57 years of life that I have had anything done to my teeth, involving Novocain when I didn't thinK, I don't know why we even bothered with the Novocain... Oh, and here's the funny thing. So I get back home and I am telling my wife about how well it went and I said about the neighbor being okay, and she says, "Where did you go?" And I say, I went to Paxton Dental Care, just like you told me," and she says, that's not where I told you to go. I said to go to Paxton Family Dentistry." Well, maybe I didn't go to the place she said for me to go, but I have a different dentist than my wife as of today. So, to Dr. Patel, I say, thank you for taking such good care of me, and to anyone reading this review, I say, go here, it's a good dentist and to that wonderful woman at the front desk I say, I'll be back again and would still like to have a hug from you. Dr. Arya patiently answered my questions and even drew diagrams to clearly explain what was happening in my mouth and what needed to be done. I want to especially call out the fantastic care of the recovery nurse Ray Fettrow. I had an especially difficult time recovering from the anesthesia (My body also didn't do well from anesthesia after surgeries at some other doctor's offices and hospitals.) What is different is the way Ray worked with me to help me recover, and ease my fears. The anesthesia nurse, Judy, also came in to help and comfort me. I highly recommend Wood and Meyers Oral Surgeons.

My experience with Dr. Siordia was excellent. However, this practice is not patient-friendly. The…read morecall center is impossible to access; prolonged hold times followed by "leave a message" which may or may not be returned for days. My referring dentist never received a follow-up report of my surgery by this practice; even he could not get through to the office for information pertinent to my care. The Camp Hill office reception area is luxuriously appointed, but don't get comfortable; it's all for show and mostly benefits the staff, I imagine. You will wait in a cramped area full of other patients awaiting their procedures with no visible air filtration system in site. The office manager has been unavailable to meet with me despite requesting to discuss scheduling and patient safety concerns with her twice. Buyer Beware! Go elsewhere.

The place is modern inside; it feels new and up-to-date. The office staff were friendly and professional and got me out of the waiting room and into an exam room quickly. After my X-rays, the dentist did my teeth cleaning. This was new for me because I've only ever had cleanings from hygienists, not the dentist. I was impressed--it felt like she was really getting to know my teeth, not just swooping in after a cleaning to look for a few seconds before swooping out again, which has been my typical experience at other practices. Two things I really appreciate: 1) they have early morning appointments so patients don't have to take off work every six months for a cleaning. 2) they have a prize box for adults at the check out! I got a weird little eggplant charm from the prize box! Overall, this seems like a great dental practice and, so far, I'm really happy with the care I've gotten.

You would think they would automatically reschedule it asap since you know they cancelled it last second. But hey, if you cancel on them 23 hours 59 mins prior to your appointment, you better believe you are still getting that bill. Also, my other dentist says my filling doesn't need replaced..... interesting. At least they got a vibrating chair and tv in the ceiling lmao
