We enjoyed lunch the other day. Customer service was warm and excellent. Everything was great except for the ice. There were consistent black specks in the ice cubes which indicates that the ice and/or fountain machine is long overdue for cleaning type maintenance which is truthfully gross and not appetizing. I have to give this place props. It is in the small town of Ephrata, WA, which is just a stopping point for most people. My buddy and I were out photographing ghost towns for my upcoming book, and we got back to town at about 9pm. I had seen the good reviews about this place so we decided to give it a go even though they were only open for another hour. First of all they never made us feel like we were there close to closIng time, which is a huge thing for me. I am sensitive to people wanting to go home, but they were so sweet and accommodating. The place was still bumping, but we were the last to leave. My friend ordered the chicken fajitas and I ordered the beef. These were some of the best I have had, and I am from the southwest. The marinades were flavorful, and the pan literally stayed sizzling for about ten minutes. That being said, we both had leftovers even though we were starving when we arrived. Plenty of food! If you are looking for spicy this isn't the place, but I think they know their clientele. Spicy does not always mean good. In fact, it sometimes means they are hiding the lack of flavor. I deducted a star because the salsa was a bit watery, but it was not a deal breaker by any means. My only complaint is that I most likely will never have the chance to return because I don't see myself coming across this little town anytime in my future. My loss! read more

I go on a lot of weekend trips and often end up at small-town Mexican restaurants that generally disappoint. Tequilas in Ephrata was not one of them! I was super impressed by the sunny and bright dining room, quick and friendly service, and delicious food. We were greeted upon entering with a friendly smile and taken to a booth next to a window. Yummy chips and salsa were brought to the table so we got to munch as we browsed the menu. I ordered the steak fajita burrito, and my friends got the taco salad and tacos rancheros. All of the portions were HUGE and the menu was fairly priced. My platter was enough for probably three meals, but it was so delicious I cleaned my plate. Everyone loved their food. We asked for some hot salsa to top our dishes and they were delicious. I loved the fresh peppers, onions, and steak in my burrito. The guac was amazing. and the rice and beans were perfectly seasoned. Awesome flavors. Fresh corn tortillas for the taco dish. This is exactly what I want out of small-town Mexican food! For some reason, this restaurant has a row of booths running down the middle of their seating section, and this is where they chose to put me. It felt incredibly awkward. 1) Why pit a row of booths down the middle? 2) Why would you put someone alone in this spot? After being seated, the service was extremely slow. Granted I would say the restaurant was half full or so, so not dead, but I was there over two hours, most of which was spent done eating trying to flag someone to get my check. People are being way too harsh on Tequila's. This is the BEST Mexican food I have ever had. I've been all over the place and nothing compares. Get the chicken burrito! It's amazing. And for dessert you can get a fried ice cream or flan and they're both delicious and won't break the bank. The customer service is amazing. The food comes out fast and the portions are huge. Ok, there are not a whole lot of options out here so for what it is it's good. I wouldn't stretch the description far enough to call it authentic Mexican food but this ain't no Tex-Mex either. Go with the enchilada because you really can't go wrong. The portions are large and the service is quick. You may feel a little rushed but don't let the servers push you around. Given the size of the area and surrounding restaurants, I think Tequilas is a fine choice for a lunch or dinner in Ephrata. Service was good as it gets anywhere. You walk inside the doors to "Amazing"! Fascinating decor of the majestic wooden chairs to the vibrant colors on the walls! Then there was my entree of two Chimichanga with rice and refried beans. The presentation was colorful and proportioned way over the top... at least for me. Then came the amazing flavor which left the building some time ago. The wrap would of been nice if it wasn't "doughy " but crisp. It just plain lacked seasoning. Will this keep me from going back?... I don't think so! Due to lack of choices, I have been here several times. If flat, flavorless mexican food is your thing, then you won't be disappointed. There is nothing even remotely spicy, rich, salty, peppery....Nothing to promote gastrointestinal distress in any way. Even the drinks are so watery I suspected they omitted the alcohol altogether. Fabulous food. My husband and I both had the Poquito Chimichanga, rice & beans. Soooooo good! Topped with sour cream and guacamole. This was a large plate, nothing small about it, I had to take 1/2 home with me. We eat here everytime we are in town. Absolutely love coming here. We always ask for their 'Wimpy' salsa (ask for it) Yes, we're lightweights when it comes to salsa, just can't handle the spicy stuff. The price is so much lower than anything on the West side of the State. What a joy to be able to have an affordable meal that tastes great. Service was fast and friendly. Worst food I have ever had. Methinks not is correct! The food was old and expired. The guacamole was brown and black. The Carne Asada tasted old. I have never eaten such bad food. The service was good and the restaurant was very nice, but the food was just terrible. I felt bad for the staff to have to serve what they gave us. This was a trip with 8 friends and all of our food was bad. I hope management sees this and straightens out their food quality. I however, will never go back. read more

I was all prepared to give these guys a good review, until I got home and checked my balance on my pre-paid Visa card. Even though I gave them a $5 tip for a to-go order, they tacked on an extra $5! I signed a receipt, so I don't know how they think they can just tack money on like that. Nice folks running it but I'm thinking they might be better suited for a burger joint. The food is quite spiceless even for the Mexican American food. Salsa tastes like it comes from a jar and chips are served cold. If you want a margarita with dinner this is not your place. Taco Bell tastes more authentic then this place. We've been here a handful of times, our experiences have ranged from okay to so bad it's funny. I waited to review Tequila's until we'd been in a few times, I know restaurants are sometimes hit or miss depending on the season, how busy they are etc. The restaurant itself is pretty clean, although visibly run down (duct tape on the seats etc) Our most recent experience was okay. We were greeted pretty quickly, and sat quickly as well. Within minutes of sitting down we were given water and chips and salsa. The menus were really dirty like absolutely covered in old dried salsa and other old food. Our server was nice, she did check back on us a handful of times and brought us everything we asked for (water, more chips, sour cream) in a timely manner which was good. The food is pretty bland. I've had a handful of the vegetarian dishes and haven't been impressed by any of them. Today I tried their Veggie enchilada, which was okay. The sauce was good. The enchilada was stuffed with carrots, celery, onions and green peppers. It came with whole beans which were bland, and rice which was really crunchy(?) either left in the container used to heat it for too long, or underdone although I'm not sure which. My boyfriend got the verde burrito. It was served with salsa verde, rice and refried beans. It was stuffed with pulled pork, and he wasn't impressed either. He actually salted his rice and beans to add some flavor to the meal. The experience was over all okay, but not really worth the price. This is how most of our experiences have been. A few months ago we came to Tequilas and my boyfriend had and actual rock (probably about the size of a dime) in his burrito. I cracked up laughing, and when our server came back after we told her he had a rock in his food they gave us 30% off which didn't really feel like they were fixing the issue. No management member stopped by to do a table touch or anything. Overall, we haven't had any experiences here that were great, or even good if I'm being honest. After our lackluster experience today, with the accumulation of poor experiences we've had in the past we'll probably end up at one of the many other Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

Literally waited 5 min for someone to come and when they came completely ignored me until i asked for a menu, i wanted to order to go, the guy there took my order and just left, as he left I asked if i should pay now, he said no its ok, didnt say it wil be so and so minutes or ill be back, nothing!!! I waited and waited 15 minutes and nothing no one said anything to me of how long it will be for my food and just disapeared. I eventually left at 20 min waiting..... Chile Colorado was cooler than room temperature as was all the sides. My plate must have been sitting around for a while before serving. Water glass had black grease on the inside. This place deserves 1 star due to horrible service. We walked out after waiting about an hour. It was mildly busy and took the waitress over 15 min just to bring our water, chips & salsa. No opportunity to review food because after the waitress walked by our table 4 or 5 times without taking any order from us we walked out. Tequilas will not be on my recommendation list. read more
