I wanted to leave this review to tell how they went above and beyond with customer service. So lately I've been trying to get my hands on an Ezone 98. It was sold out everywhere, even online. I called Tennis Ace to see if they had it in stock. They did not but I was told they would call me back once they checked their stock. I expected to not hear back at all. It was my first time at Tennis Ace and I can tell you...certainly not my last. I walked in looking for a new racket and Bruce immediately came up to me and assisted me in selecting one. He provided me lots of information, his recommendations, and explained everything in detail. Although there were so many good ones to choose from, I finally made a decision. Great service every time! My last visit I had to restring my racquet before my next match but was not aware of the Rainy Day hours. So I came back the next day and was hoping to get my racquet same day but understood that they were busy. Next day it is! I went into the store and there was a single guy stringing some rackets. I can't remember his name but he was super helpful! There's apparently only two of them, on was Bruce whom I met when I went to pick up my racket and the other one was a tall white guy. Very professional, very helpful! He asked me what kind of rackets I generally prefer, my play style, and my skill level. Through talking I went with the Head Radical, but I went in looking for a babolat product. I've hit with enough head rackets to know that I generally like their rackets and the way they normally build their frame and string patterns to give an adequate balance of control and power. As an intermediate player I prefer control over power but I wanted something that would also give a nice explosive power if needed. I thought their recommendation was perfect. They helped me choose my grip size based on my hand grip, and they had my racket done the next day. Great service! Also look at the nigiri string dampeners they sell in store! Suhweeeeet! read more

I have been coming to Tennis Ace for a few years since I moved to Los Angeles and usually only review restaurants but felt compelled to comment on their excellent service today. My son bought his first Junior racket with the help of the owner Bruce who took extensive time to help us pick out the right one but being nine years old my son changed his mind after he played with it. We had no business asking for an exchange but Bruce was very kind to help us out. There is a fine assortment of products and unlike a lot of other small businesses, the prices are as competitive as online products of the same sport. In a time of everybody ordering through the mail it's nice to go in to a small business and get service from the actual owner. I would not buy anything from here simply bc of their return policy. I bought a pair of sneakers that I wore for 20 minutes inside and they ended up being too tight. Sometimes that happens. I went to store and they wouldn't let me return. He told me to call adidas and adidas said they have never heard of a one of their vendors not taking accountability. Never leave Yelp reviews but I felt compelled to after my very frustrating and strange experience. Had two rackets strung here. I play very casually and after about a half dozen light hitting sessions one of the rackets' strings broke. I came in to ask if that was typical and the employee told me I had the cheapest strings and they would be lucky to last an hour. THE STRINGS HE SOLD ME APPARENTLY LAST LESS THAN ONE HOUR. What?? I was so shocked by his rude behavior and dismissiveness - he did offer to restring with better strings at their regular price - that I asked for the manager. Then things got weird. He asked me my name and I told him it was Andrew. Then I asked him what his name was and after a brief pause he said... Andrew. Then he told me the owner of the store was Bruce but he wasn't in. So I called a few days later asking for Bruce and the employee who answered passed the phone to him. Bruce sounded suspiciously like "Andrew." But when I asked if there was an employee named Andrew who worked there he said there was. I even asked, "Are you sure Bruce and Andrew aren't the same person?" To which he said, "No." A very quick google search led me to find some videos of Bruce and his father and sure enough he was the same person who I had spoken to at the shop. TL/DR: Store policy is that the $27 synthetic strings last less than one hour. Also, Bruce (Jr) pretended to be someone named Andrew and then lied about it when I called. read more

Tennis Ace is a family owned business in Studio City that offers mostly competitive pricing on tennis racquets and gear for all levels of players. Bruce, the owner is very knowledgeable about the game and will happily recommend equipment to match your level. The store is not the biggest so their supplies aren't high, but I've never had a problem with that as Bruce has been able to located equipment for me in a timely manner. His prices in general are fare, but as always do your research as there are options online that will give you better. I wish I could give a zero. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! Recently I had my racquet restrung here and had a horrible experience. I told the associate my playing style and what I was looking to improve at. He suggested a new string and I also wanted new grip on my racquet. When I finally get my racquet, a week later mind you, still had the old grip on it, that's strike 1. Strike 2 is when I inquired about a pair of Nike shoes a week prior, he told me they were $90, as I pay somehow the price magically jumps up to $120. I barely play one set with the new strings and they were sounding like they could snap at any moment. I called immediately and told him, he says "bring them in and I'll be able to tell if they were used in 1 set or several". Basically you're now implying that I'm a liar. I take the racquet in and he continues to be rude and talk down to me. This could have been a simple fix especially since I paid $36 per racquet and bought a pair of shoes. I will never come back here, terrible customer service. This place should be called "TENNIS FAULT" read more
