I am sure most people do not realize how unstaffed the police are and how much their hands are tied by the rules of engagement placed on them by those in power and the main stream media who refuses to do real journalism, they just say what they are told to say. We know this because you will hear the same message on each one of them even using the same wording...do they really think we are that stupid? Our brave officers deserve respect, remember they are people just like you and me except they run to the fire instead of away from it. Stop and think. Why has Memphis been short of police for so many years? Why are they held back from doing the job they are trained to do and to do it with force. They are not backed up by the powers that be and some of the people are not raising their children to respect police or teachers, no one. This is no favor to their own children nor their communities. Wake up and realize we need our police and our military. They are providing for us all doing a dangerous job that most of us couldn't do for a single day without falling apart at the seams. Thank you to our men and women in blue!!!

This is an open letter to the black security man at the entrance with the salt/pepper beard:…read more Dear Sir, I came in today, and you were nice to me. Thank you. I sat down on the bench by the office door like you told me to. I was next to a 20-ish black male. He and I both witnessed you absolutely verbally abusing the people that came through the door. At first I was amused...but then I realized you were unhinged. You called a white couple that merely questioned where to go "aggressive" several times. We saw the whole thing go down. No aggressiveness, except for YOU. We saw you talk down to a Hispanic male, telling him you KNEW he knew English and that he needed to take a seat and stop playing. (Are you a clairvoyant? How do you know the linguistic capabilities of people who just walk in the door?) We saw you berate a woman, a man, and another couple. Finally, the young man next to me addressed you: "Hey Security guard - I'm calling your supervisor. You're talking crazy to these people". You bucked up to him and challenged him to do so. And THEN - I witnessed you use some self control. You acted a little more professionally. This tells me that you are capable of being in control of yourself and that you were aware of your actions. There was NO excuse for how you behaved today. Even if I was not the recipient of your verbal abuse, I was extremely troubled with how you handled the public as they came in to do their business today. If I spoke like that at my job, I would promptly be fired, and rightfully so. You, sir, need to retire, find a different job, or go through some therapy. You are obviously too comfortable in your job, you don't like the people you serve, and you don't fear ramifications of your behavior. Oh, and the information you spat out at me like it was the Gospel was wrong. You are not God. You need God.

I arrived 40 mins prior to opening and there were 15 people ahead of me to get into the building. The security officer opened the door at precisely 9am and was cordial in guiding everyone through the metal detector. I pulled a number for new vehicle registration and only 4 people were ahead of me. I received my registration and tags and was out the door within 19 minutes. All of the customer service representatives I observed were pleasant and helpful with customers. I'm glad this was my experience and wish the same for everyone else.

This library is far from being comfortable but it's at least functional. Its kind of loud and more family orientated.Maybe because its just Saturday. They have an adult fiction, childrens, young adult, adult non fiction section. The printers are located up front near the check out. Also up front is the computer sign up which is more towards the middle. The information desk is next to the computers and everything else is around in the front or the behind..Basically you wont get lost anywhere in this place. The people seem pretty nice I guess. My cousin called me twice and this old lady gave me a look like I was disturbing the peace. She chooses to ignore the others talking and the rowdy kids earlier but I guess that didn't matter. This isn't really the greatest place to study or think but I'm sure they do have some info in here. Its a library afterall.
