It's been twenty-two years since I've ridden a motorcycle and while I have maintained my…read moreendorsement I felt it would be wise to take a riding class and boy am I glad I did. Brooke at the Naples Motorcycle Riding School is nothing short of awesome. The course is all about being safe and avoiding being in an accident. Anyone can hop on a motorcycle and go at high speeds in a straight line, but how many know what to do and what not to do when someone pulls out in front of you? The difference can life or death. The first night of class Brooke explains the rules. If you do a wheelie it will be your first and last one, as you will be asked to leave. If you show off in any way, you are gone. It's all about riding safely. Then he goes through the course handbook materials teaching the course. Day 2 and 3 are spent on riding technique. How to properly perform a high speed stop, a high speed weave, slow speed turns in a tight radius and combinations of all of the above. Brooke demonstrates the proper technique before you try it. Some riders had never been on a motorcycle before. Brooke gives them the special instruction they need while the rest of us continue practicing until my the afternoon of the last class we are all ready to do our riding test so Brooke and his assistant can score our skill level. I highly recommend that anyone currently riding a motorcycle or thinking of riding a motorcycle take this class. It is well worth the $250 and the time spent. Once I get my motorcycle and refine the skills that were taught I will return for his advanced classes. What you learn may just save your life!
