Absolutely LOVEE coming here!!! Their deals are absolutely amazing (after 8pm, they have 50% off all of their sushi and hot bar!). The only con I would say is that at that time, there is a bit of inconsistency with the rice being a tad hard on some of the roll pieces (not all!). However, if you're here, definitely get yourself an onigiri! They're less than $2 for each after 8pm, and as I was checking out, the guy next to me went crazy on them and got about 10 of them. Because they have the seaweed wrapped separately, it's still crispy and tastes super fresh! Wish I could gatekeep this place, but everything tastes absolutely great here, especially because of the value! Their teriyaki/donburi bowls are also super affordable (~$5 for a nice bowl of salmon teriyaki that comes with rice, and a little side of seaweed salad!). Folks start claiming dibs on what they want even earlier than that, so if you want the best selection and the deal get here early to claim your spot. Ambiance wise it's very much a Japanese grocery store, very small but absolutely packed with products and food. I went with a miso soup and three different rolls of sushi, and my total came out to well under $20 which was absolutely shocking. I walked out of there feeling like I'd robbed the place or done something wrong. The sushi was decent quality, and the miso soup was tasty as well. Admittedly I came here recently for the late hours discounted sushi, onigri, and chicken Katsu and it did not disappoint. Obviously the sushi is not on par with restaurant sushi but all in all pretty good. I would definitely come back to try it again. The store itself has a pretty good selection of Japanese food products ranging from candy to buns to ramen to ice cream. If you're in Manhattan and looking for ingredients to make an authentic Japanese meal, I would definitely recommend going there. From what I've been told it doesn't compare to 7-11s or Lawson's in Japan in terms of hot food selection but it's good enough for New York City in my opinion. Smaller Japanese market located in 5th Ave between 22nd and 23rd Streets. They carry a broad mix of groceries and a slightly different selection of Japanese and Asian products than I've seen in some other similar stores, for example some drinks and snacks produced in Taiwan which I appreciated since you don't see them commonly. The main sections are: a wall of snacks directly to your right when you walk in, ramen and dried foodstuffs as you walk further back to the right, opposite to which are more dried ingredients and condiments. Turn the corner to a smallish display of fresh produce (mostly vegetables), pickled veg, and the center aisle shelves stocked with a variety of snacks and candies. Against the wall are a frozen food section, chilled condiments, sauces, drinks, followed by a couple sections of prepared foods to go. The sushi and sashimi looked reasonably fresh at 3pm when I walked by on a Saturday afternoon. (For those reviews mentioning 50% discounted sushi that's not fresh at the end of the day, I imagine if you're waiting for sushi anywhere that's been sitting even in chilled conditions for more than 7-8 hours it's probably not great though personally I've seen visually worse-looking discounted sushi at other places.) Service was at checkout was prompt though I didn't have much interaction with the staff. They have a large selection of goods imported from Japan. Do not expect to find fresh produce from here. However, you can get plenty of snacks, candy, canned goods, noodles, jars of sauce, drinks, and more. They also have an area at the front with premade food. The selection is actually very good and reasonably priced. You can buy onigiri, sushi, gyudon, teriyaki, etc. A typical bowl here is $12. It makes for a quick and affordable lunch or dinner. There is one elderly male cashier who I'm afraid if he is actually the manager. Not to mention ZERO English proficiency, he doesn't have a standard professional courtesy to say hi or even nod to what you have to say (I'm not asking to talk about feelings, just kindly asking for a steamed bun please). I am liking Ten Ichi Mart prepared foods. There are sushi rolls as well as bowls and other small plates! The place looks small but it packs a lot of goods inside. Had the Chicken Karagi and I liked the cooked eggs, and pickled red daikon and seaweed salad in the mix. There is sticky rice too and at a good price. On another try, I got the shrimp shuimai eight pieces with a sweet sauce for $6.95, I also got the chicken teriyaki to go. I found there was a sweet glaze on it but it didn't have as good a flavor as the karagi. Waiting on line, I spied Pocky cookie sticks with green tea and lots of drinks and bottled teas. During lunch hours the place can be tight because of all the lunch seekers. If you want to look around at a more relaxed pace, try before or after lunch. How cute is this little market. It reminded me so much of going into the Family Marts in Japan. It had a ton of yummy food to pick from and many Asian staples throughout the store. I have been seeing this market on ig reels and I've been meaning to stop by. I finally got the chance to see their premade produce section and there were more options than I thought. I wish I was able to take advantage of the 50% off after 8PM but I'm rarely in this area that late. I picked up a spicy salmon and scallop roll set for $11.50. Keep in mind they have a $8 minimum for credit card. The fish was fresh but the taste was nothing too special. I love how each roll is 8 pieces rather than 6 pieces. I went to this Japanese style convenient shop when it first opened, which is a welcoming business for affordable sushi without forking over $10 for a sushi meal. While I was never out late enough to take advantage of the 50% discounted food, what I ordered during the day is always fresh and I do see a kitchen with cooks making food in the morning. People complain food not fresh, well, that's because you bought it at the end of the day...at a discounted value. Sushi is meant to be eaten fresh anyway, so just be more lenient and understanding when the purchase is done few hours after being made. Staff is always courteous and helpful. read more

Ten Ichi Mart is an Asian style market/ convenience store with 3 locations, cobble hill , williamsburg, and manhattan (23rd st) . I have found things from green tea kit kats to shrimp chips to kikchi to baby bok choi in the produce section and a variety of fabulous canned boba / milk tea drinks! but what keeps me coming back to Ten Ichi Mart is that every night at 8pm the stores fresh daily prepared sushi and hot foods all become 50% off! max limit of 2 for the sushi, unlimited for all hot / prepared foods (and the onigri's) it is a great value and while sometimes some of the hot food can taste like it has definitely been sitting around all day waiting for me and the long line of others to pick it up its still a meal i didn't pay full price for which makes it worth it! and alot of it taste fine! ive been able to try so many things especially from the hot foods section that I wouldn't even think of otherwise! read more

I'm so happy to have this Japanese market in the neighborhood! They have all the Asian snacks you could want (including various hard to find types of kit kat) as well as sushi and hot foods to grab for a quick meal. After 8 pm the sushi and hot food is 50% off, but a huge line definitely forms of people waiting for this perk. I have only attempted this once and arrived just past 8 pm to a line that wrapped around the store. It moved quickly and there was still plenty to choose from but not sure if that would be the case much later. Decent sushi quality for the value. If not 50% I might stick with the rice balls which are a good deal even without the discount. I often stop by when walking by to grab a green tea ice cream treat from the freezer. read more

Came by for the 50% hot foods after 8pm sale on a Thursday night so here's some tips. Be there by 7:40 the latest, otherwise the store starts getting packed. A line starts forming around that time as well but don't be alarmed it moves FAST. My friend and I were maybe third or fourth in line and we still checked out by 8:03 pm. We got there around 7:20 because we were in the area and wanted to make sure that we got first dibs and the chance to explore the store peacefully. It was definitely more than enough time but also we were standing on line waiting to check out for about ten min so we weren't really exploring for an entire forty min. It is a small store after all but there are lots of options. There's also mini sales happening on random items ranging between 30-50% off. Staff were super friendly and super helpful which definitely contributed heavily to my rating. When I asked if they had any pizza buns left in the hot food (having thought they were vegetarian lol) one of the employees was kind enough to walk me to the back to show me the frozen pizza buns and when I asked if they were vegetarian and she said they weren't she sought out veggie alternatives for me. Really appreciated that. As for the hot food selection (aka what's on sale post 8pm), don't make the effort to come down if you're vegetarian, there's nothing for you to eat lol. If you're pescatarian, there's shrimp, eel and salmon bowls, shumai, and onigiri. I personally don't like shrimp so the only thing I got was the teriyaki salmon and I did take a chance on the shrimp shumai. Funny enough I liked the shrimp shumai alot more than the salmon teriyaki. Salmon teriyaki had a very firm fillet of salmon and the veggies and sauce were relatively flavorless admittedly so not really worth having gotten there so early to grab. But I'm glad to have tried it and don't regret it at all. read more

I had the cha siu kimchi rice bowl, and it was really filling! They gave a lot of pork, kimchi, and rice too! The pork was a bit dry but still very flavorful.
