Soft interior with the right amount of powdered sugar on top. Forget about the ones in New Orleans. You have to come here. The waffles? Oh so delightful. Crispy on the outside and delicate fluff on the inside. Even better than the ones in the Grand Place in Brussels. Although my family likes another place for ice cream better, this is my favorite in Koksijde. The right amount of cream and well flavored with more bits inside. So it's not a dining locale. Don't come here because you think you'll get fine food. It's fried, Belgian style. Maybe a quick bite at lunch. But for gouter or after dinner tasting, it's worth the trip.

The stew has a yummy base, I could pick out the beer flavors (Belgians truly have the best beers in the world). Meat pieces were tough, which is a shame given this is a stew. They should have use a fattier cut of beef like chuck. Meme Gusta has a similar but much more flavorful Flemish stew. The no-bake cheese cake was light and refreshing. Good for 1 person, small to share between 2. Service: 2/5. They had no English menu. At this point I have come to Belgium enough to pick out a few familiar terms, but I would have liked to be able to see what other dishes they had. Had to aggressively flag down waiter whenever we needed something. they also charge €1.80 for tap water. This place is popular enough even for locals that one can't get in without reservations. There are many choices for great food along the Belgian coast. We decided to have an outing to De Haan for dinner. Everything was great from start to finish; and by "start" I mean the quick email response to our inquiry about hours and availability. We got an almost instant reply to our email. Within a few minutes, we made a reservation with ease. The restaurant is right on the beach with wall to wall windows overlooking the North Sea. Staff are welcoming and very helpful.
